I am leaving in 34 days (WOO HOO!) for our first trip as a family (and the VERY first trip for everyone but me). I have not yet recieved anything in the mail. I had thought that I would have received my Magical Express info by now as I thought it was mailed out at 45 days, correct? Should I worry or not yet? (I've been paid in full since booking so that isn't the problem.) THanks so much!

We are now checked in online, last minute Visa reward points transferred to my reward's card, refillable mugs packed (no lectures please) and we are ready to roll Saturday morning!!

:dance3:

I did online check in today as well!!! :cool1:

I just need to pack, put up the Christmas tree, finish shopping, wrap presents, start making fudge...... :rotfl2:

We are checked in on-line too! Shopping done, presents wrapped...now have to put up the tree and pack!!!

What are the benefits to online check in? I'm assuming it saves time...we will also be arriving on Saturday!

I wouldn't worry yet, but you should call your travel agent just to get it off your mind. I received my ME vouchers about 34 days out, so it's about time for you. We are traveling with 2 other families and they haven't gotten their vouchers at 11 days out! I am a little worried, but I called the TA and she is requesting duplicate vouchers to be sent out. They are a room only reservation, and mine is package with dining, so maybe it's on a different schedule. Good luck to you!

So jealous of all of you going so soon...its a dream of ours to spend the holidays in WDW some day....did in DLR a couple of times!
hope everyone has a wonderful trip!

Officially booked today for a 7 night stay at POP! No kids this time around - just us!

Now to countdown the next 6 months!

So DH and I booked our first value for our first adult only trip to WDW a few months ago for Jan 3-9, 2011.

Two days ago, DH found out he couldn't go :scared1: He didn't ask off and now has a company-wide meeting that week. We wouldn't have booked that week if I had known he didn't ask off. (He works a flexible sales job where his boss typically doesn't care if he takes time off during non-busy times.)

I now changed everything over to do a mother-son trip with my 3 year old so I wouldn't have to miss my trip :rotfl2: Next time, DH will ask off :rolleyes1

I have never made a room request before. I would have booked a monorail resort if I thought I would be alone with a 3 year old.

Is there a better room area for a mom alone with a 3 year old? It seems like every building is fairly close to the bus stop. Are there elevators? From the FAQs, it looks like ground floor requests are honored more than some other requests.

Any ideas? Thanks! I am a huge planner and this has thrown me off :flower3:

--Edited to add that I would have booked monorail for convenience and not to sound like a snob. I'm sure we'll love Pop!!

If your three year old is using a stroller (and my recommendation is yes he should) then I like ground floor rooms with a stroller. Much easier in and out the door and you are not dealing with waiting for elevators. (Yes, there are elevators in the center of each building.)

Requesting a ground floor can be something to add when you call with your room request, plus it should also be one of the few set choices if you do online check-in.

Building wise, I like the 50's although on the map those may seem the furthest away from the buses. Building 1 ground floor, though, you can duck around the front of Classic Hall and I think it's really convenient. There is a path to go around the front near the luggage center vs. going through the center area where the food court is.

While the monorail resorts are convenient, my 8 year old who loves McDonalds and luxury is completely lost on her, LOVES the Pop. She said its her favorite resort. As far as kids go, the rooms and resort is perfectly themed for kids. The food court is perfect for little kids. You will love it. The buses are good, there is only one bus stop not like at the larger resorts where you get on and then have to stop at other stops on the way out or back in. All the decades are close to the main building and bus stop. If you want to remain close, ask for an area NOT near the lake. The lake view areas are furthest. Each building has 2 elevators in the center and they come quickly. Ask for a room close to elevators and you won't need to worry about what floor you're on. Top floor you won't hear footsteps above your head, although as resorts go, this one isn't as quiet as others. What I mean is I swear the walls are paper thin. I never heard any neighbors at Saratoga Springs, but that is DVC and Deluxe, so you really can't compare them.

Have a good trip. And :sad2:boo on your husband for not asking off! Men!

going by yourself w/your DS will be fun! the POP is every easy to get around w/a stroller (bring one from home so you have it outside of the parks)

take the day slow, come back to the resort for breaks or if your lucky and he naps in the stroller, find a quiet area and people watch while he naps (that's what I did when my DD was little)

too bad your DH can't come, but having special time with your DS will be magical!

Thanks for the help, everyone!! I am definitely bringing my little maclaren volo for him. I don't like the rental strollers and can use the strap on the volo to carry it when necessary :thumbsup2 This little guy is go with the flow. He'll nap in the stroller or sit on a bench just to chat. As long as he sees Winnie the Pooh, he is in heaven.

I definitely think my little guy will go nuts for Pop. We stayed at BLT in May and he loved the pool area.... not much else was exciting for him in the hotel. It's pretty bland.

I have been able to switch my Ohana dinners for some character meals. :thumbsup2

So should I call or wait for onlne check-in or both? I am sorry if this has been addressed before. This is a very long thread! It's so helpful :)

I would recommend both actually. Since you know you have room requests call and have them added. Then I have had good success doing online check-in and having those same requests on the ressie honored.

:yay:
Just faxed my room request, which should also be documented on my reservation. I am a little concerned because we have (2) confirmation numbers. The first one is just for one night room only and the second is for a four night package. We had to do this because the free dining was not available on the 9th. I have been told that the reservations have been "linked" together and I am really hoping that we will not have to move rooms after the first night. Has anyone had experience with having (2) reservations at the same resort?

We will not be checking in until 11:00 pm. Considering the circumstances, should we use the online check-in or just wait until we get there?

I am trying hard not to worry about this. After all a bad Disney Day is still better than a day at home in the snow!! :thumbsup2

I will be landing in Orlando for my very first POP stay on Saturday morning at 9:00!!

We always stay at the Beach Club but I am down attending a conference for work and they just wouldn't spring for a deluxe!!

I am actually very excited to stay there. Have looked a pictures of it and have always considered it a fun looking resort.

I am renting a car to get back and forth to the conference. Any advice on what building I should hope to get? Like I said, going solo and have a car so no worries on trecking to the bus stop with my kids in tow each day!

Thanks!
J

I haven't ever had a car at Pop but just based on proximity to parking I'd guess building 8 (90's) or building 9 (80's) (closest to 90's parking) or buildings 1 or 2 (50's) (closest to 50's parking)
