I think I saw somewhere that half way across the bridge it's closed, but I have no proof of this.

We leave a week from tomorrow! :) YEA!!! The boys are so excited and today my two year old said "I go to mickey's house right now!" Ha ha ha!!!

It's hard to tell how far across it closes, but it goes pretty far across the lake. It is a nice walk.

Not sure about seeing Illuminations from there, but you probably can see the top b/c we watched the top every stay from our rooms in bldgs 2 & 3.:thumbsup2

Happy planning!!! :goodvibes

Is it just me, because the words "laundry" and "vacation" shouldn't go together, or do the dryers seem to take FOREVER?

It is not just you. "Laundry" and "Vacation" do not go together. :thumbsup2
And I don't know about the dryers taking forever because DH does the laundry on vacation while I am sitting by the pool...(one of the perks of doing laundry the other 51 weeks of the year;)).

I'm quite sure that you can choose the dryer temp.

I couldn't find a temperature setting in the dryer last year at CSR.

If anyone knows how, I would like to know. I hated having the clothing dry at such a high heat!

My husband does this too....with 5 kids it's so nice to not have to do laundry for 10 days.

If you were going to stay preferred, which building would you request and why? Thanks for any advice. :)

We've never gotten preferred rooms.....while many say it's not worth the extra money, I sure would like to be closer to the buses and food court. We've been to POP numerous times and it seems every year we leave it to fate and reservations puts us in the back 40 LOL Last year we were in building 8 and that was quite the walk, the year prior we were in the bowling pin building....again, quite the walk. Maybe it's a rotational thing and our luck will improve this year.

I am going to have to read the posts about the husbands doing the laundry at Disney for my husband. lol I like that idea.

We have paid for a preferred room and still ended up in the back 40. lol Some of the 70's and 80's rooms are closer to the buses and such than some of the preferred rooms. It is always going to be luck of the draw but I would rather get the farther room knowing I saved $15 or so dollars than paid them and ended up in the farthest prefered room that is farther than some non preferred rooms.

Hello....

This will be our first time at POP, was wondering if Generation Gap Bridge was open to walk on, and if so, can you see illuminations from there?

Yes, it should be open til you get to the very end near the AOA side then there should be a big green construction wall. That's how it was last August :)

I am sure that this has already been asked and answered, but are all the rooms renovated? if not, which sections are? Also, which are the best buildings to catch a glimpse of the fireworks from Epcot?

Yes, rooms in all Pop buildings were renovated during 2010.

Thankyou for this great information. We are travelling from Australia and this is the best spot for info about Pop Century I have seen. Many Thanks

This morning I learned the very sad news that one of our POP friends, Minnie Lor, and her husband did not survive the Joplin, MO tornadoes yesterday. Lorie was a long time DISer and wonderful friend of GKTW. She and her husband had just returned from a WDW anniversary trip on May 21st. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayer are with their family.

RIP Minnie Lor. Your smile will be missed.:littleangel:

Sorry to hear this! The family is in my prayers as they work through this tough time. But I also rejoice for Lori as she enters heavens gates and is now in the happiest place--not on earth!! :littleangel:
