Great! Do not be concerned if the bed rails are not in your room - just call housekeeping and they will bring them right up. Would suggest wiping them with Lysol wipes. :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful visit with Mickey! Fingers crossed for the 60's - and remember, ask about your room at check-in and if not in 60's preferred, ask if they might try to find a room there for you. Often they can do this. :goodvibes

We just booked last week a totally last minute, spontaneous, surprise trip for may 16-24th! Last trip was Sept 2008 (wow - it's been way too long!) and we were unable to get the POP and stayed at All Star Movies. Never again.
So psyched to be going to POP again! Since it's been a while for us - does anyone know if they still have the frozen coke machine and frozen blue drink at the beverage station? I hope so, our son really missed that blue drink last trip. Thanks

Unfortunately the frozen coke machine has been gone for quite some time. :sad2: But you can definately get them in the Parks. :)

When we made our reservations last January we requested any building but the 70's. I think we are going to consider changing that to either a 50's room with epcot view or building 9 to be by the quiet pool. When I make my request by phone, should I just ignore the part of Online Check-in about room requests when we do that?

Also, which building is the better building based on popular opinion here?

Super excited!! :woohoo::woohoo:

We will be checking into POP in 10 Days!!:banana:

I have requested a room in the 70s building, first floor...hoping for a great one!

We stayed first floor in the 70's section last summer. It was great, right next to the Mikey phone. My kids loved it. 16 more days for us!!:yay:

We had both 70s and 60s with lake view and both were great. 70s was quieter and the view was beautiful, but I'm not sure how construction of the new resort will affect that. 60s our view was limited, but we were really close to the elevator/stairs and food court and pool.

Going the week before memorial day and when I booked I was waiting for our friends to confirm if they were going and completly forgot to request where I wanted to stay. I called the other day and they told me I could not add my preference until 10 days before my stay:headache:

Now Iam second guessing what to request.

I booked a non- preferred room- and I have a stroller- What should I request?

The online check-in room requests are limited to a few check boxes, such as ground floor, pack-n-play (crib), refrigerator, etc. You can't make specific building requests online.

There is the Bowling Pin pool in the 50s that could also be considered a "quiet" pool, at least if that term means smaller than the main Hippy Dippy Pool. Neither "quiet" pool is going to have quieter swimmers :). I am a fan of the 50s buildings so that would be my choice.

I hope the "10 days before" is not a new development! I would try calling back and see if they tell you the same thing. I called several weeks ago with a room request for August and the CM took care of it...at least, she didn't say no.

If they are still saying 10 days before let us know!

My experience with a stroller is I like ground floor rooms. Just makes it a little easier getting in and out without waiting for the elevator. And my favorite buildings are 1 and 3 in the 50s. Stayed in two ground floor rooms in each building and I like it a lot. Requested building 1 again for next time.

Call back. That is wrong info.

I know I read it somewhere on here but going through this whole thread...well I thought it would be better to ask.

Did I read that you can see fireworks sometimes with lakeview room at POP? I thought I read it was in the 50's and 60's buildings.

Also, how long is the walk from these buildings to the main hall?

I am thinking that a lakeview room would be nice, even if there was no fireworks view. I don't want to deal with listening to people heading to and from the pools but don't want to be in the 70's building where there is no pool. We will have to do laundry at least once while we are there, so since the laundry is by the pool, i figure that is a good thing. Take the kids to the pool while I do laundry.

No need to read the entire thread. The answers to both your questions can be found in post #1 of this thread.

DH and I got back yesterday from an 8 night stay at Pop. We arrived around 1130pm on Wednesday 4/13/11 and had done the on-line check in prior. I had made only one request, for a king bed, and was pleasantly surprised that it had been met. We were placed in building 10, on the fourth floor. We were three rooms down from the elevator, which was nice after long days of touring. Once I upload the photos of the room, I will post them on here.

The crowds weren't too bad for the first four days (Thursday-Sunday). We took Monday off and returned to the parks on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Easter crowds were definitely in full effect! DH and I decided we would come back in April but not during the weeks on either side of Easter. I was amazed by the line to enter MK at 8pm on Wednesday. Although I didn't know it at the time, I was nice that they added EMH AM hours at MK for the week. Unfortunately, when we took advantage of it without knowing it, the Monorail took FOREVER to get to MK. It kept having technical difficulties.

Other than breakfast, DH and I didn't eat much in the food court. The closer it was to 8am, the more crowded the food court was. At one point, Pop only had the mugs with yellow lids. This was the case for several days. We did see several people using old mugs.

We rented a car but did use the bus for our midday break and for a trip to Downtown Disney. At MK, we had to wait for a bus for nearly half a hour before two showed up. This was around 2pm. In Epcot, we waited 10-15 minutes for a bus. At both parks and DTD, the Pop bus stop was the very last one. We personally enjoy having a car. We had a couple of meals off-site. I highly recommend Giordano's. We went to one on Vineland Rd, within 5 miles of Pop. Restaurant.com often has certificates for it.

They were working hard on the AoA resort across the lake. They were doing some outside ground work, where near I suspect the entrance will be. I wonder if it is for the sign. They were working on several (new) buildings and painting the main hall.

Overall, we had a great trip! We did do the new Mickey Meet and Greet in MK. We did not fastpass it. I was so excited when we got to Mickey to see Minnie there with him. According to the CM, Minnie occasionally appears with him but not on a regular schedule. The weather was great - in the 90s and it never rained. It was quite the temperature shock to come back to Maine.

You can't go wrong with Giordano's, especially if you got the deep dish! Every other week we make a trip to Chicago for authentic deep dish pizza..

Anyway that is neither here nor there, I am glad to see you had a great trip, my fiancee and I are going to POP for our honeymoon, I've stayed here before. She has not, so it'll be a great trip regardless. Can't wait to see if they've done any changes to the rooms since I was last there

I bet it was a shock to come back to Maine! we are in NH - snow all day today!:scared1:

I will have to look for a pg lady from Texas, ha ha. We will arrive the day after you I think!

Did you request a certain building??
We will arrive the 29th! Can't wait!

Yay for 16 days for ya'll!! :woohoo: Super exciting!!
Glad to hear you like the 70's...I also requested 1st floor. Let's hope we get it! ;)

Hi there everybody!
Can anyone tell me if it's too crowded in the first two weeks of june?
I'll be at POP from June 2nd to June 12th. We're only adults travelling and we would love the quieter rooms. Seems like the 70's facing the lake is the better option, right?
Thanks in advance:)
