Just added an extra night at POP! 5 nights wasn't enough!
We will be at POP now from December 15-21!!!
We've always stayed at ASMO's and DH wanted to try something different.
We can't wait! We are also taking the train down from SC for the first time!
First trip during the Christmas season!
First stay at POP!
First train ride for all of us!

Let the countdown begin!

We requested 50's too, but with the current refurb, and people's comments about not often getting what is requested, I'm not holding my breath. It doesn't matter... either way we'll be in Disney!!!!!

I think it depends we went the last week of October last year and we got our request. If we don't get it it isn't a big deal as long as we aren't pool side and I would pefer to be in the 60's.

I thought the same thing and DH told me it was b/c of the type of plug they have installed by the sink. I always travel with an extension cord (you never know when you may need it!) so I plugged my hair dryer into that and plugged the extension cord into the wall that faces the bed closest to the bathroom (right under the framed decade artwork) so I could still use the mirror over the sink. That did the trick! It worked just as strongly as it does when I am home from that point on. Who wants to waste extra time drying your hair when you can be in the parks!?!

Thanks for that tip !!! I always bring an extension cord for family trips as I would put lights up !!But I like the hairdryer idea even more !!

Have a great trip! My kids love pop. We are going back for our second trip next month.

I never even thought to try a different electrical outlet in the room!

Will give it a shot when we go next month. Will have a teenage girl with me and if the hairdryer doesn't work....heaven help us.....

I've done a Keratin treatment on my hair and hopefully that will kill the fuzzies this year. It worked well through the last Sydney summer, which is not unlike Florida.

Wow Oz-Kateer, you will be at POP around the same time as us, we to are flying from Sydney. What date do you leave and who are you flying with. Wouldn't it be funny if we were on the same flight We leave Sydney on the 19th Sept arriving the 20th sept to pop.

Refurb update.

I am on the 4th floor of building 3 facing the lake.

They are currently working on Building 3 (50's) 1st and 2nd floors. The noise isn't that bad, and the workers are really polite. There is only one elevator for guests though (as the other is being used by the workers)


When we checked in our room still had slightly we paint.. (as evidenced when i brushed up against the wall and got a blue paint smear on my arm!) so they are filling the rooms as soon as they are completed.

the parls are busy but not overly so, (longest wait was 45 minutes for Space Mountain with a posted wait of 80)..

Daily rainstorms around 4:30 at pop lasting untill 5:15 so far.. plan ahead!

Yay!! Was able to finally find a room at POP using the room only "summer" discount!! I've always wanted to saty here and now I get to! Only preferred was available, but I don't mind paying a lil more to stay here! Requested 70's since its my favorite decade (Love me some disco), so hopefully that'll work out for me! :

We are already booked at pop with free dining for 10 days. But we are still looking into getting a room for my step son and his GF. The live in FL and are taking the train but will only be there for 4 days. We are paying for there room and tickets. But nothing is available. So I nmay have to book threw orbitz.

For those who have gotten refurbished rooms. Did the room smell of paint? If so did it go away in a day or two? Im asking due to I have allergies and smells like wet paint can be bothersome.

We will be at POP 8/14-8/21 and requested a King bed in 50's section building 1. This was where we were last year and we loved the location. Fingers crossed we get our requests but even if we dont, we are still in Disney, woohoo!

Keep trying! I was searching at least once every other day to once a day depending on if I remembered to. Completely lucked out. Sometimes it may open up at the last minute, so everyone kept telling me. Good luck and have a great trip!!

I also stayed in 50s building 1 last year, and I've requested it again. Let us know the state of refurbs if you get building 1! There's reports today that building 3 is being worked on right now, with some rooms complete.

No paint smell in the room (and like i said it was still "wet" enough when we checked in that it rubbed off on my arm!)
