Just back from a weekend trip to Pop Century. We went for
MVMCP, which was great. We haven't stayed in a value for quite a while, so I was a bit concerned, but it was really quite nice. Below is a quick rundown.
The GOOD: very clean resort, our room was ready upon arrival, nice staff at check-in and the buses were insanely efficient. I don't think we waited longer than 7 minutes at any time. It was quieter than I expected based on my memories of other values. Maybe it was just not that busy right now. The food court was nice, as was the gift shop.
The (sort of) BAD: We did hear the toilets flush and could hear people in the room next door. I will say that this was at times when we were up and about anyway, so it wasn't a huge problem. If you're looking for a quiet resort, the values probably aren't the ones for you after all, right? We wanted cheap this weekend, since it was a spur of the moment extra trip.
The UGLY: This was the only thing that really bothered me. There was no bounceback in our room when we arrived. I called housekeeping and asked for one to be left on the next cleaning. It wasn't. The next night, after returning from the park, I went to the front desk to ask about it. The very nice girl from China tried to help, but didn't really know what I was talking about. She did go and ask her supervisor though and really tried to help me. The supervisor, however, also didn't know what I was talking about and gave me an expired flier for a
free dining plan and said that was it. Giving up with them, I went back to the room and called housekeeping again. It was a little after 10pm at that point. Housekeeping flatly refused to bring a flier that night and said I could call back at 7 in the morning. I explained that I'd asked for one previously and it hadn't been delivered and we were leaving early in the morning for a character breakfast and asked that they have someone just slip it under the door at any time between then and when they could in the morning. She said they couldn't do that and told me to call in the morning. Ok, so the next morning, promptly at 7, I called housekeeping again and explained again. They said they would bring one, but couldn't promise when. By 7:30, we had to go for our breakfast and since it was our check-out day, we weren't coming back. So, no bounceback for me. Now, this isn't a huge deal for us, since we are FL residents, AP holders and coming back next month to the Grand Floridian for Christmas anyway, but I couldn't help but think that it was sad that someone wanted to return to Disney and was having such a hard time of it. Lets me know that I should find the BB code and number here before I go down!
None of that is to say anything bad about Pop Century, really. It was a nice resort and value for the money can't be beat. We would definitely return and had a wonderful trip.
