First time at Pop - how important are preferred rooms over standard? We will be using the busses - no car this trip. It will just be me and my DD-10. Will I regret it if I go with a standard room?

I would never pay for preferred - we like the ones furtherest away anyhow!

We leave for POP 3 weeks from tonight. I can't believe it's getting this close :)

We've stayed at Pop 5 or 6 times. We always get a preferred room - with 3 small kids, it makes it so much easier on DH and me at the end of the day. After so much walking, even a few steps saved is appreciated. We also rent our strollers at the parks, so dragging three tired little ones from the bus to the room can be a challenge. A 5 min. walk can sometimes seem like 5 miles...the extra cost is worth it to us, but I realize everyone is different.

It appears we will be at pop at the same time. Our trip starts on the 2nd and end on the 16. Maybe we will run into each other. will be decorating our room window.

I really prefer the preferred rooms! (Sorry – couldn’t resist!) Anyway, the resort is quite small, so you really don’t need to get a preferred room, but we really enjoyed the convenience of being able to just pop over to the food court in the morning or to refill our mugs. We were really close to everything, including the busses, so I felt that for an extra $10 a day, it was worth it! :thumbsup2

Oh P.S. I have been to like 3 different Home Depot's now and every time I'm there I check the paint section for Green Mickey heads - and they are always out!!! LOL... I think thats really funny - the staff there must wonder why the lime green (or any green for that matter) paint chips always run out so fast!

DS always likes to get a couple of those in any color. It's Mickey Mouse, what do they expect???

Anyway, I used my Cricut last year to cut various sizes of LGMH. For each LGMH I wanted, I cut 2 in lime green and then one in black a bit bigger. I layered where it was lime green on both sides with a black shadow. I punched holes in them and used a rubberband to attach to my stoller and bags. However, they fell off or DS pulled them off. I think I'll laminate them this year.

This is close to what I did. I used one sponge, got it damp and soapy (like I was going to wash the table after ice cream:lmao:), then left it standing up on the side of the sink until it dried. I was glad I started early, because it took forever to dry, like 6 days I think. Could be because it was hot, humid NY summer weather when I did it.

Then when it was dry, I cut it into squares and dropped them into a little baggie. Worked GREAT to wash sippy cups and resort mugs out in our room. I looked all over for the wipes with soap, but could not find them here.

That is a great idea! I will be sure to do that this trip.

I'll keep an eye out for decorated windows. We will be doing a POP scavenger hunt the night of 8/7 (Friday) once we arrive as long as it's not too late. I'm getting so excited. We don't decorate - but DH did agree do do some fun video's like the Wolfe's did (with the dancing and lip syncing) - so if you see some silly family dancing around the resort - it might be us :)

I used my cricut too... I actually put the laminating sheets(before heated) on the mat and cut them with the cricut too, then I put the LGMH in the cut out sheet and put thru the laminating machine.. viola perfect fit, no messy scissor work for me wohoo!!!

I also did this with Mickey and Minnie to hang in our window......

I am going in Sept. I am looking for some help in decorating my window. I will be celebrating 2 kids birthdays, 1-10 yrs old and the other 2 yrs old. If anyone can give me suggestions or even help that would be great.

We are going down in November and would like to also hear of any suggestions on how to decorate our window. :confused3

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!!

Thanks for the laminating idea. I don't have a laminating machine so I was planning on buying the clear Contact paper. Have you ever tried that with on the Cricut machine? I'm afraid the adhesive on it may cake up on the blade. I might just have to cover with the Contact paper and then rely on my scissors to trim around the shapes.

Our kids had a Micky Mouse Clubhouse birthday party in March. I got a cute birthday banner with the characters on it. I bought it at the Disney Store but I'm sure Party City, Target, or Walmart would have something similar.

Thank you... I haven't tried contact paper, but I would think if you put it on the mat before pealing away the non stickey part it might just work, maybe with the deep cutting blade? Good Luck!

Thank you all for the replies. Now just for the record it is not me that is "spazing" out about this. It is my "engineer" husband who is a Mr. By The Book person. I have seen those kits with the clear bottles all over the place and they all advertise that they are for carryons. But heaven help us if I am wrong and my husband gets to tell me "I told you so" on the whole flight down to Disney. Yikes! I will check out Target and if they are labelled 3 oz. then there shouldn't be an issue. That way I will just fill a bunch of them up with the sunscreen I already have. I am just mad because I just bought 2 aerosol cans of a new continuous spray sunscreen that I was going to take before we decided to just do carryons. And I know that 6 oz. of aerosol is a DEFINITE no-no. I am not sure what they think I am going to do with spray sunscreen on a plane??????? I will also check on the sunscreen wipes - haven't seen them but we have all the stores here in Rochester (Target, WalMart, K-Mart, etc.) so I can check around. I appreciate all the help you have given me and I am sure that it will work out.

I found the sunscreen wipes at Toy R US, They are made by Blanket Baby and are very expensive. 6 wipes was $9.99. I hade a coupon at the time. They are SPF 45+. I have not used them since I'm saving them for our trip, so I can't comment on how well they work.

When we went in Dec 2008 my Mom made out of Christmas fabric 4.5 inch Mickey heads which we then stuffed with polyfill. We put ribbon through the tops of the heads and hung then from a skinny tension rod. From top to bottom starting at the left of the window I had a row of 4 Mickey heads then 2, then 4, then 2, then 4. We also brought snowflake clings that we stuck on.

It looked really cute!

Check out this thread, post # 342 if you would like to see a picture. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1803865&page=2 Just click on the pic to make it a little bigger.(Someone from the DIS saw my window and took a pic)

I'm a carry on only girl for Disney and CVS sells a 3 oz spray bottle. I bought a few of them and they worked great! I am a "by the book" person too with the 3 oz bottles. I am soooo paranoid that I will get pulled out of line and be told, "sorry ma'am this bottle is 3.1oz and I have to take it!" :rotfl2:

I want to start by saying "thank you" to everyone on this forum. My last vacation was 5 years ago. We stayed off-site, august, with a 5 and 4 year. Not the best of times. I ask them what is your favorite Disney memory and they BOTH say "swimming at night!!!" at the hotel pool. POP sounds like by far the best value resort. No sharing of buses, cool theme.... Except i was lookin forward to a Capt Morgan and frozen Coke. Maybe, a Long Island ice tea would work. I have written down numerous tips and advice from countless posts on this site. Thank you very much everyone!!!
1 question-room requests... How or when do i ask for a room preference? We were thinkin 60,s, top floor, lake view.... But, when i went to online check in at the Disney World site, i couldn't find anywhere to fill in my request....
Thank you again.... Were there 7/29-8/5!!!!!! The countdown is on!!!!

call WDW and add it to your reservation. The CM's are very good about putting it in there. I even called back to check on it because when you do online check in I didn't see it in there. My preference was,

50's building
ground floor/non pool
closest to main building

I got 70's
ground floor
closest to main building

It was MUCH better than I had even hoped for in my 50's building request! :goodvibes If you give them a good idea of what you are looking for they will find you a great room! good luck and give them a call today!:goodvibes

Just got back early this morning~I had requested top floor, building 3 or 4, Lake/Illuminations view and we got the perfect room! We were in building 3, room 3234 and had a view of Illuminations and Wishes every night! My kiddos were able to lie at the foot of the beds and see the fireworks every night that we weren't in the parks to enjoy them. Just thought I would pass along the info about the fireworks! Also~they are re-painting the 50s buildings - exterior walls and bowling pins.
