The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread Chapter 2! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

There were hoards of Brazilians there!! I had never witnessed this migration before and was completely shocked by the amount of people. There seemed to be no escaping the groups in the parks (no tour groups stayed at the Pop that I noticed.... I wonder where they stayed?). No one was particularly rude and we did not witness any line cutters. But they were everywhere and took up SO much room!! Also, they would occasionally break into song at the top of their lungs.

Yes, they're usually singing their national anthem. No lie. Check it out one time.

Also, how annoying is it when you get in line for a fast pass and, oh man, guess who has FIFTY park passes to get fast passes for?! Yep! You got it. One of the team leaders or chaperones or whatever, forcing you to get into another line. Very annoying.

Buckeye Gal - First off, this thread is AMAZING! You did a great job and I was so excited to find this after a friend suggested this board to me.....

Awe...thanks! Many people here have made contributions to Post #1, so I can't take credit for all the content! I think the organization and links within have been extremely valuable for many though, if I do say so myself. ;-)

Welcome to the DIS!

Our Pop stay (first ever!) is coming up March 22-28th and I'd really like to have a 4th floor fireworks view. From what I've read the best way to maybe get this is to send a fax 4 days ahead of my check in date asking for that? I need to find the right tone between groveling and sounding entitled. :rotfl: Also we need a pack-n-play for the baby. It should be clear in my reservations but should I restate that on the fax? Any thing I should add to the fax to make it looked upon more kindly? Would an actual phone call work better?

Oh my gosh... so excited.

I faxed a room request over about 7 days prior to arrival. When we arrived they already had my exact room request which was bldg 4-50's lakeside ground floor 4154. We couldn't see fireworks becuase of being on the ground floor & there was a huge plant foliage in the way. A little further toward the end of the bldg & up to the 4th floor would maybe see them. We loved the gound floor....super easy. It was noisy the first evening due to some people hanging outside there rooms but then quiet the rest of the 10 days were stayed there. Close to classic hall & pool.

Any ? Just pm me....
Sue

I'm new here, but I've been staring at the room maps for a couple of days now. It looks like you would be ideal in rooms 4108-4112. I'm not sure if they are king or double though. Rooms 4102-4107 are connecting rooms, so you probably don't want those. Room 4101 may be okay, but it's close to the elevators and ice. Here are the links that I used to determine that:
ht tp :// disneyworldlinks.com/tools/PopCenturyRoomLayoutLarge.jpg
ht tp :// www .disboards.com/showpost.php?p=24421892&postcount=1219

ETA: I don't have 10 posts yet, so I can't post links :( I tried putting spaces in them to get them to post. You can cut and paste, then take out the space if you want to see the maps.

Requesting specific room numbers makes it much harder on the room assigners, so you're less likely to get what you want.

Just tell them the general location that you want. :goodvibes

worked out great thanks:cool1: that was alot of help.

Has anyone done online check in yet and how does that work? Is there a way to make requests when you complete the online check-in? We are a family of five and already have noted on our ressies that we are requesting connecting rooms but ideally I'd like to request our room be a king room and the boys just regular double beds. Is that a possible request online or should I fax a request? I don't care which building.

HI! I've lurked around this thread since we made our reservations.

BuckeyeGirl, you rocked this thread. Good job.

We drive down Friday and check-in the POP Saturday morning. We're INCREDIBLY SUPERCITED! :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:

DH will be arriving separately and will be leaving POP to go back to work. His work requires him to use a ladder, which he has to ship ahead of his arrival at whatever hotel in whatever city. Not knowing yet where he will work after our WDW trip, we decided to see if POP would receive, hold and ship the ladder out for us. So, I called yesterday. CM Hannah was VERY helpful and said that they would receive the FedEx delivery and hold the ladder in bell services during our stay. She also said that they would turn the ladder over to FedEx for shipping back out (with our pre-printed label and on our dime, of course.) This was good news for us. We won't be stumbling over that big, old, heavy thing in our room all week. :cool2:

While I was on the phone with CM Hannah, I asked her about online check-in. I asked her what the status and advantages are to using it. She admitted there had been glitches in the system, but it should be working again soon. The advantage of using it depends mostly on your arrival time. If you're in a hurry to get checked in and off to the parks and you arrival time is typically a busy one for the regular check-in, then you might be happier using online check-in.

We're arriving about 7:30am Saturday, which she said would be "dead quiet". So I'm opting to NOT use online check-in. I want to reserve the opportunity to request different room number, etc. to make sure our room is close/adjoining/connecting with our friends that are going with us.

I hope y'all have a great trip. We intend to!

Thanks for the online check-in update. :)

Thinking we'll probably never use it as we enjoy chatting with the CM and try to find a room location we'd enjoy. ::yes::

Have a fabulous trip!!! :cheer2:

I am at the 10 day check-in point.

I just did the online check-in. You can't reserve much, but that was ok with me. I have preferred reserved so I'm fine with any building/room. The only options you have for requests are :
1) ground floor
2) close to transportation
3) pack n play

The one plus I noticed to online check-in was the ability to use the "online check in" line. So I'm hoping that will make things go quicker as I'm arriving at 3 pm on a Friday and it'll be a busy lobby day.

Message I received after completing my check in online :
Thank you for submitting your information. When you arrive at your Resort hotel, remember to look for the Online Check-In Service logo at the front desk. Simply present your photo ID to receive your Key to the World card and Welcome Folder.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know. I'll probably go with regular checkin because I want 4th floor lake view.

Thanx for the info! I'm just wondering if check in at the on-line desk is really much faster than regular check in. I, too, sort of like to chat with the CMs about my room location when I check in and sometimes change it at the last minute. :rolleyes1 But if on-line check in is a lot faster, I'll consider trying it.

Eager to hear from somebody who's used it when you get back.

I will definitely report back how it goes if that helps u. We'll have our laptop with us so I can check-in here on this thread on March 20.
I, personally, am hoping the "on-line" check-in desk is faster....otherwise, I see no point in checking in online at all ? I'll know in 10 days.........
