travelbug,
What building did you stay in that you loved?

I haven't stayed there yet. Will be there in May.:yay:

I was asking gocards2001 what building and room she was in. Doesn't it sound like gocard2001 had the perfect room?!!

We're going to POP in May...since you were so happy with your location, what building and room # were you in? It sounds perfect for us too!

We were in 5229 in the 60's. I looked at the map after we got home and I think it was the perfect location. I did not make any requests since the info on here indicated that all buildings were pretty close to the bus and food. I was THRILLED. When we were at ASMu, we were pretty far from the bus and food. I didn't walk up there just to get a drink.

We were not on the pool side, but there was not A LOT of swimming when we were there with the record low temps. I was amazed that there were people in the pool every day though. LOL

I also loved my location. I was bldg 3/room 3261 (corner room and closest end towards the food court). This was the "Tramp" bldg (or as a cute little girl said as we heard her walking by our room : "look mom....it's the "man dog" !). Took me 45 + seconds to walk to food court back door from my room.
I did go over to the 90's section and timed one of the further rooms from the food court (but not the furthest) and it took me 6 min. I'd estimate, from the very furthest rooms, the walk would be around 7 min.

Wow! New mugs. It was rumored that they would be out by the 13th, so I guess it was right. Surprisingly, the two threads on the cups haven't updated, or at least I haven't gotten notice that they were.

Checked out today.....on the way out, ran into maintenance CM. He got to chatting with me. Told me POP was scheduled for a big rehab starting the end of this year. I asked if he knew specifics and he just said, "some new stuff".

Maria

I hope it's not a huge change. DISNEY are you listening!! With everything going on in the world today, CHANGE is the last thing I want. I don't want my Pop messed with. They're perfect the way they are (well except for the eye sore across the lake, but you know what I mean.)

:rotfl: Yeah, leave our POP alone, will ya?! :lmao:

But seriously, as much as I'd like them to do something with that "ghost town" across the lake, do you guys think they'd go over as DVCs? I was sooo hoping they'd turn them into family suites like AllStars.

LOVE the new mugs! :thumbsup2 Thanx for posting the link, Maria!

My first stay at POP is coming up in April and I am wondering if it is worth it to request a room in a certain area? I have booked a standard room, so I know that means that I won't get the rooms closest to Classics Hall, but are the other rooms really that much further away? Is there a building that is just really not that popular because of location etc..? We're not all that bothered by noise and yea, being able to see illuminations would be nice, but it's not a make or break deal. I am thinking of just leaving it to the room gods. Any thoughts? Experience?

Based on your preferences, that's what I'd do. If you really wanted to be closer, you could put "close to classic hall."
Otherwise, let them pick, and enjoy the magic. If they show you a location you don't like at check-in, ask if you can change. : )

Happy planning!

Leave it to the room gods. I've stayed in the far room in the 50's and the other end of the 70's. It's not a far walk. Now, it might be after a long day and you plan on walking back and forth.

If you plan getting the refillable mugs ~ here's how I saved on trips to the room and got bang for my buck on the mugs. Grab breakfast at the foodcourt or if you bring your own like (Pop Tarts - got to have Pop Tarts at Pop) still eat in the food court. Fill mug with juice or coffee. After you're done, rinse mug at the 'clean mug' station (there's hot water and paper towels) Refill with your choice of pop and head to the bus. (some bus drivers don't want you drinking on bus but it's ok to have it as long as lid is on) You can also take it into the parks but usually mine is gone before I go thru the turnstyle. Then I empty the ice out and give it a good shake. Snap the lid on, close it, and clip to my belt or purse with carabiner clip. When I get back to the resort whether it's mid day or late I at night, I fill up with my favorite beverage to take to my room.

Enjoy your trip!

That's exactly what we do, too!! We use the clip to attach them to our stroller handle (I have the HUGE Mommy clip) and they dry out nicely there and ready to go on our way back through later that night.

Good ideas ladies! We did almost the same thing, only tossed it under the stroller!

It's been a while since I've been up here. I surprised my wife with an early Valentines Day gift of going to see the Braves play the Red Sox at the end of March. We're just taking a small trip, only for about 4 days. We decided to save some money and stay at a value this time. We spent our honeymoon last year at Caribbean Beach and it was wonderful. I've really been encouraged by all the posts in this thread. I've wanted to go to POP for awhile and now I get the chance too. Please keep the reports and pictures up!

Cool pix of the mugs !!They re definately diferen from last years!! Wonder how many of the old mugs will still be used !!:rotfl2:

we have 13 more days, anything i need to know before we stay at POP for the first time??:cool1:
