The Grocery Game

A couple of months ago, our local evening news profiled a new website geared to saving money on your groceries. They did their consumer research on it and reported that it really worked. I was extremely skeptical at first, but after doing it now for several weeks, I am hooked. You get the first month as a free trial, and then it is only $10.00 every couple of months. I have saved 10x that already on groceries.

My last grocery bill totaled over $375.00 and I wrote a check for $128.00.

You are right, cutouthunger.org is a great website. In fact, the news report also profiled them as a free alternative.

However, I am more than willing to pay less than a couple of bucks a week for somebody else to do all the legwork of saving for me. Consequently, thegrocerygame works better for me, as I don't like to put a lot of effort into researching deals and coupons. Thegrocerygame gives me a shopping list each week, advises me which coupons to use that week as that particular item is at its lowest price, etc. All I have to do is cut the coupons out of the Sunday paper and then get the list and go shopping. Very little effort with major gains on my part.

Actually, using both websites in conjunction with each other would really maximize your savings!

besides, we only have ONE grocery chain here, so no double coupons and not too much on great/almost free sales.

Oh well! There are still other ways to save.
