Thank you! I'm glad you like it! Yeah I started high school in 2001, so I was in the 7th and 8th grade in 2000! Haha I'm already starting to feel old, though. My incoming freshman class that I will be teaching this year are twelve years younger than me! When did that happen?!

Hahaha I should've done a food rating of the Trix! I'll make sure I do them from now on, including the McDonald's I ate in the next update!

So glad to hear you enjoyed The Help, one of my favorite books (I actually read it for English class, which I kept a solid A in throughout the year, which I told you just because...) and I finally got to watch the movie a few weeks ago, just as AMAZING! Especially when they shove in Emma Stone to play Skeeter But I gotta say, Viola Davis should've won the Academy Award for Best Actress over Meryl Streep (I swear, she owned that movie!) Sorry, rant over. But I swear, more scandalous than all these crazy gossip about Emily Maynard (total crap IMO).

Anyways, your dogs are so adorable! Puppy dog eyes plus Disney blanket... oh, I need to look away (Animal Love k ! Oh and yeah, silly Joni, Trix are for kids! (see what I did there?) I'm feeling very nostalgic today.

Yay for being on the road! I think it's so sweet your mom called you because she was nervous about how getting to Disney would be. First Timers, so precious (Ugh, now you've got me saying it! (; ) to listening to Linkin Park in the car! I had a small little obsession with them last year and their song, Shadow of the Day still remains to be one of my favorites, but Hybrid Theory, great album right there.

Can't wait to read about the rest of your drive down to the World!

Muah ha ha! Getting the songs stuck in everyone's head is my ultimate goal! GOTCHA! That Johnny Depp movie is Benny and Joon, by the way!

The Help was amazing! I'm actually watching the movie again right now while I type this! Emma Stone is amazing, and I agree about Viola Davis. She was perfect as Aibileen. Oh, and YAY for maintaining an A in English! That's what I like to hear!

I'm going to Raleigh/Durham, NC the 24th of August to visit my cousin, it's her 50th Birthday party. I'm so excited... I've never been, It's for a long weekend plus we're going to spend a couple of days in Wilmington too. Really I think somewhere on the beach in Wilmington. I'm just along for the ride... But I can't wait...

Our favorite place to stay in Disney is Beach Club and Yacht Club. We love the convience of walking to Epcot or DHS... Plus the whole resort is just fabulous!!! We have also found that staying 10 days is a must... (even though it doesn't happen everytime) Then you get to spend lots of time just enjoying everything and not having to hurry through it all.

I finally finished mine that I took with my 18 year old daughter and my neice during spring break. We had lots of fun.

Beach Club is definitely now my favorite place to stay! And the Yacht Club is gorgeous too! I agree about 10 day trips...they're exhausting, but it's so nice having lots of time to do everything!

Girl, let me tell you something you got so lucky to find a guy who not only constantly wants to go to Disney but buys you princess notebooks and other fabulous Disney items. That is basically my dream. I can't with guys that don't get my Disney obsession.

I'm already loving this soundtrack idea! So brilliant! I must say, I'm such a fan of this song. Once at school I was procrastinating and flipping channels with my roommate (the one who is practically your neighbor) and we came across a random channel where The Proclaimers were putting on a show and singing this song. Neither of us had ever heard it before and it cracked us up! Sorry for the story, but yeah... I love this song!

I never wear anything but flip flops either!!! However, last time I was at Disney in the summer and attempted to wear flip flops, my feet were burning at the end of the day. No clue why. So now I have to practice wearing tennis shoes. SIGH.

Between the picture of your belly-baring precious dog and John and his nutri-grain bar, I just laughed for a solid three minutes. HAHAHAH.

I'm loving this TR so much already. I hope you update again before I leave!!! (I only ask that you do three or four. Think you can manage??? Totally joking... ish. )

I'm glad you like the soundtrack idea! I remember when I got married we played this song at the reception, and my aunts were really drunk and they starteddoing this weird dance where they just kind of marched in a line to the rhythm of the song. It was weird, but hilarious.

I love flip flops so much. Sometimes I feel the effects on my feet, but I just keep wearing them. I'm a glutton for punishment. And pretty much just a glutton in general.

HAHA John and his Nutrigrain bar are pretty hilarious. He's holding onto it like I'm going to steal it from him!

Life Is a Highway- Rascal Flatts

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way

When I left off, we were just making it to SC! It was 9:23am, and we stopped at a rest area to stretch our legs. John was doing an awful lot of yawning, so I offered to drive for a while. John usually likes to drive the whole way (It’s some kind of man pride thing, I guess. I dunno.) but I think that 6:00 wake up was getting to him, so he was more than happy to let me take the wheel.

As you can see from those pictures, I was feeling pretty positive about this whole driving thing. I had high hopes. I was envisioning John waking up from his nap and realizing I had made record breaking time and we were two hours ahead of schedule. Then he would understand that I was, after all, the more accomplished driver, and he would tell the entire male gender that women are not so bad behind the wheel after all.

Well, that was my fantasy. The reality was that John woke up about an hour and a half later to me raging like a complete lunatic. The traffic was INSANE. If there’s one thing in this world I can’t handle, it’s the sound of styrofoam rubbing together. Oh wait, that’s not right. I mean, it’s traffic. I HATE TRAFFIC. Especially that stop-and-go traffic where people get their hopes up and speed ahead, only to slam on their breaks five feet later. UGH. This had been happening all along I-26, and my nerves were fried. John could see a nervous breakdown in my near future, so he offered to drive. God bless him.

We stopped again in SC at 11:45 to fill up on gas and switch places. I was very relieved to no longer be behind the wheel.

We were both feeling pretty hungry, so we stopped at the McDonald’s next to the gas station for lunch. John got a combo meal, but I just wanted something to tide me over, so I got the spicy mcbites.

This isn’t Disney food, but I figured we’d try out the rating system just for fun, shall we?

Service: The woman that grumbled at us through the drive through window was a little too surly for my taste. Plus, I’m not entirely sure the grunts she was omitting were actually a recognized human language.

Atmopshere: I ate them in my car, so the atmosphere wasn’t much to write home about. Although, I was listening to Disney music while eating, so that helped a little.

Food Quality: The chicken mcbites were extremely hot, which should be a good thing, except they were so hot I burned the roof of my mouth off entirely with them. Also, this McDonald’s did not have the habanero dipping sauce I like, so that was a negative. Plus, the bites were like 90% fatty breading, 10% chicken. Not a great ratio, I’m afraid.

Overall Dining Experience: Well, it was McDonald’s. So, it really wasn’t anything special. All it really accomplished was holding me over until my first Disney dinner later that day!

Overall, this meal receives the following rating:

Category 3- Django

It definitely wasn’t very good. Oh well, there was much better food coming later!

We were back on the road by noon, and at around 1:00 we were seeing this!

Goodbye, South Carolina! Hellooooo, Georgia!

We drove until about 2:00, then stopped at a rest area for a break!

By this point I was feeling pretty tired. The early wake up had finally gotten to me. Unfortunately, I can’t stand to sleep in a car. I don’t know what it is, but no matter how tired I am, I just can’t do it. I was getting pretty grumpy, so John suggested I try one of his Rockstar energy drinks. He loves these things and drinks them pretty much everyday, but I had never had one. I took a cautious sip, and...

YUM. It tasted just like Minute Maid lemonade! Plus, I was happy to discover it had no sugar and only 10 calories! Heck yes!

Please keep in mind, this was the first energy drink I had EVER HAD. At first I was like, “I don’t feel any different. When will I get energy? I don’t think it’s working. I think I’m immune to it. Blah blah blah.” Then, after about ten minutes, I started feeling like I had a hummingbird trying to beat its way out of my chest, and suddenly I had LOTS of energy.

I think that whole plan blew up in John’s face just a little bit, because I started bouncing around like crazy and being super obnoxious. Luckily, the effects didn’t last very long and by the time we got to Florida at about 3:30, I was back to normal!

You see some strange things in Florida, like people driving around with palm trees in the back of their trucks.

We stopped to get gas at about 4:00, and I grabbed a Smart Water!

Then it was back on the road! Before long I saw a very exciting sight- the first Disney billboard! Actually, it was like the second or third, but it was the first I was able to get a picture of!

It was a beautiful day, and I loved these cool looking clouds!

At about 5:15 we saw THIS!

Unfortunately, we would not be checking in to the Beach Club until the next day, July 8th. Originally we were planning to leave that day, but we decided to leave a day early. We agreed, however, that it would make sense to stay somewhere outside of WDW that was a little cheaper that first night. That means that we had to get off at an exit before Disney World, which was quite depressing. Especially when we saw this sketchy Waffle House/cheap gift shop combo.

Always open...but never inviting.

Finally, right at about 5:30, we pulled into our first hotel of the trip- the NOT Disney Springhill Suites!

Great update! I have yet to try those energy drinks as well. I'm beginning night shifts at my work in the next couple of weeks and have been debating them. My only concern is that I've been told you get soo tired after that peak of energy

I recognize that Waffle House and that building! My parents own a timeshare in that area. It does look really sketchy, but usually the resorts in the area aren't too bad. Can't wait to read about your first evening in Disney!

Haha I love your rambling and excessive exclamatory punctuation! Don't feel bad, I did the exact same thing when I was commenting on the fart shoes TR last night. I realized every sentence I had typed started with "I love..." so I had to go back and rewrite some of it!

They're so precious. I agree with ya there. I'm okay with cats. I'll take care of them and all but I'm not a huge fan. I LOVE dogs though.

OMG what happened to you with Monster happened to me with Redline. They tell you not to drink the whole bottle but of course I did. Whew, never doing that again.

Ahh... offsite. Not my favorite place. But it did make sense to stay in a cheaper place. I can't wait til you get to the glorious Beach Club though!

yes I live in Florida! Although I don't spend every minute of my life at Disney so it's kinda pointless Very cute car pictures. Energy drinks are very dangerous things, John was probably regretting giving you one can't wait for more! The songs are going perfectly with the updates.

Hi! So I'm still kinda new to the site and have been a lurker on a few other TRs but I want to be a part of this one. I feel lie I started early enough and it seems like a lot of fun. So first I want to say that I LOVE your pin bag! I love pin collecting and started actually trading on my last trip and I love it. I also am a sucker for diet soda. I drink waaaay too much of it. O well...it hasn't killed me yet. I also love the song titles and your food ratings. Your McDonalds rating was spot on. Definitely a Django meal. Lol. I've ne'er had Rockstar but I've had 5 hour energy before when I was driving down to Fl once (sadly not to Disney) but I swear I drove from Atlanta to Port St. Lucie. I was ready to go! I'm definitely looking forward to reading more and after looking at the titles of your previous TRs I think I will go back and read those too. They sound very entertaining.
