The Great Pumpkin

My DS (9 yrs old) is home from school sick today. Just a cold, nothing serious.

He and I are watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." I guess Halloween is really close now!

Passing these special things on to my DS's is my favorite thing about the holidays.

I bought the book to read to DS. I also plan on watching this with him every year just like I did when I was a child.

My kids like the shows like that very well, but have never understood why they are so very special to hubby and I. We remember when there was only one or two networks available up here. And when something like The Great Pumkin came around, wel,, that was super! It was never Halloween until we saw that one. Or how about Rudpolph? Or Frosty? You only got to see them once, and if you missed it, well, it was heartbreaking!!

I agree. Watching the Peanuts holiday specials has become a tradition for me. It just doesn't feel like Halloween til Charlie Brown gets a rock. And it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving til Snoopy has a fight with a deck chair and toasts his ear....

last weekend. I think now that she is older, she really enjoys it more. Like she appreciates the humor in Snoopys reaction to the songs being played on the piano, and the absolute indignity of the unthinkable...Sally being gyped out of Halloween and Charlie Brown getting rocks and having to model his head!
