Day 2 – 07/20/2008

I just got my photo pass pics so I wanted to load up this one on main street. Sorry, for some reason it scanned in darker???

I wanted to try and make it to EMH at epcot today so I woke the kids up early and we had breakfast in the room (cereal, granola bars & apple juice). Before we left home I showed Tiara all footage that I could find on test track. I love this ride and I knew she would too if I could only get her on it. After seeing it on tv she felt confidant enough to ride. I should also mention that Tiara’s mom is a clothes horse. She must be matching at all times; very different from me. I could care less of I look like a clown. She has unfortunately passed this trait onto Tiara so Chase and I waited while she prayed over her outfits to find the right one. Picking the right shoes (she brought 10 pairs) took another 20 minutes. After many eye rolls from Chase, Tiara was finally ready. (After this I made her pick out her outfits before going to bed). She had on this really cute outfit but I tried and tried to convince her not to wear the matching shoes. Though they were perfect with the outfit, they were a dressier flip-flop with a platform heel. I kept telling her that she wouldn’t be comfortable or able to keep up with me and Chase but she insisted. SHE WILL LEARN!

100_0349.jpg

We arrived at epcot at exactly 8 AM. Chase and I were heading to the entrance as fast as we could……where was Tiara……….trying to walk in her shoes. The wait for soarin was already 20 minutes but I wanted to hit this first. After going through the whole ride breakdown for Tiara, she said she wanted to get on. I have only rode this ride once before and I wasn’t impressed because of where I was sitting. I could see everyone’s feet. We got the front row this time and I loved the ride. We said that we would make certain to ride again later in the trip but due to wait times, it never happened. The kids loved the ride….even Tiara. She was gripping the handles pretty tight but she loved it! I sent my fastpass buddy (Chase) to mission space for a fastpass and we got in the stand by line for test track. Test track quickly became another one of their favorites and they vowed to ride as often as possible. We messed around for a little bit. Each of us taking pics in our choice of cars.

We realized we were cutting it close for mission space. I was anxious to ride as I have never been on this ride. I usually cannot handle motion rides like this and was afraid to get on. I told Tiara that she would have to experience with me the 1st time.

On our way over, Tiara again was dragging behind because of the dang shoes! When she tried to speed up…….guess what happened………YEP—ONE BROKE! Only 2 rides into EMH and we had to go in search of footwear. She was refusing to put her foot down and wanted to hop on one foot all the way to the store. I very sternly told her to get over it and put her foot down and walk. We ducked into one of the stores and bought her some tinkerbell flip flops. Wanted to say “I told you so,” but I was cool and let it go. When Chase saw her though, he shook his head and let her have it about wearing them in the first place. We made it finally over to mission space. I figured since this was probably the one and only time I would ever ride, why go for the wimpy version. I didn’t like this ride at all and will definitely skip it on future trips. The kids however loved it and since this trip was for them, I told them we would try to ride again. Correction, they can ride and I will wait on a bench. We headed over to another first, finding nemo (none of us liked this one). The effects were cool for what they were but the kids said it was just nice to cool off as it was already blazing hot.

Okay……now the sneaky little aunt inside of me started to come out. I had told the kids about club cool and since we were hot, they thought this would be a good time to find it. I told them about the concept and warned them that not all of the beverages were good (hint…hint… BEVERLY). Chase and Tiara, said “come on, we are kids…we like all soda!” Okay, sneaky aunt springs into action (this was my plan all along). I think you have to trick all newbies into this one! Here are their reactions to Beverly. PRICELESS!

100_0347.jpg

We had pretty much gotten all we wanted to out of epcot for the day and decided to head to AKG. We grabbed a couple of waters for the ride and we were off. Tiara started on the bus about how she planned on keeping the glasses off and her fingers in her ears during it’s a bug’s life….Up to now I kept feeling bad and thinking that she wasn’t enjoying herself but I realized that she was and decided not to worry if she missed out on special effects. She didn’t like this show at all as I figured. She kept complaining afterwards about her ears popping. Okay, so I had to give her a little lecture about not keeping her fingers in her ears to avoid the clogging. We were getting hungry and stopped at Restaurantsarus for lunch (2 nugget meals with fries for them and a hot dog with sauerkraut for me ($25). We headed over to primeval whirl. Though there is a lot of jerking, I do really like this ride and thought this was another coaster I could get Tiara on. Afterall it was daytime and she could verify for herself that there were no big drops. While we got in line, my fastpass buddy ran to Dinosaur for fastpasses. When he came back, Tiara quickly asked, “how many did you get?” to which chase replied “3!” Tiara said “why, I’m not riding!” (this became an ongoing theme).

We decided to pretend that we didn’t hear her and just deal with one ride at a time. She was a little anxious when our car was approaching the top but she and Chase soon spent the rest of the ride laughing at my expense. Due to lunch and my stomach, I needed to throw up and they found this extremely funny. They both really liked the coaster (even Tiara) and begged to get on again. I sent them on their way as my stomach was turning from lunch mixed with the ride. While they rode, I called Tiara’s grandmother (whom she is spending the summer with) to fill her in on our adventure thus far. She was excited to hear that Tiara was on a coaster and told me to hang in there.

By the time they got off, it was time for Dinosaur. Tiara said she was absolutely sure she didn’t want to ride so she went to the dino institute to pick out a souvenir for her little brother while Chase and I jumped on. Now Chase has only been on once before (when he was 5)! Yes……….I said 5! His parents and I had never ridden and we didn’t know what the ride was and boy did he freak out. He was crying so hysterically loud that the entire store was hold their hands over their hearts as if they were all heartbroken for him. Needless to say, out of guilt, we bought him anything he wanted in the store which included the biggest dinosaur you ever saw. This time however, Chase is older and I was excited to see how he handled it. He admitted to me that he was scared and spent most of the ride sunken down in his seat. He said that he was so glad that Tiara didn’t get on with us since he was scared he knew she would have been terrified. While we were alone I asked him if he was enjoying himself. I wanted to be sure that he didn’t feel slighted at all since I had to hand hold Tiara a little. He said that this was the best trip ever so I decided not to worry about it.

We met up with Tiara and decided we needed a cold snack. The humidity was killer. We headed to Dino Bite. Chase got the ice cream sandwich made with fresh chewy cookies; Tiara a chocolate milkshake; and a fudge sundae for myself. Chase couldn’t believe how big his ice cream was and remarked that he now understood the name (Dino Bite). He said that you had to be a dinosaur to wrap your lips around it.

100_0348.jpg

It was 4 PM and we decided that we had had enough being in sun. We headed back to POP and enjoyed the pool until about 7:30.

100_0352.jpg

100_0353.jpg

We had dinner at the food court (vegetable lo-mein, parmesan chicken with pasta [x2]) ($24). Tiara wasn’t sure about the alfredo sauce so I asked them for the marinara instead. She said it was really good but after tasting mine, decided to get the alfredo next time. I wanted to head to MKG for EMH (open to 2 AM tonight!) but with our early start, wasn’t sure the kids would make it. They begged to go so we showered quickly and headed back to MKG. Of course they wanted to ride space mountain first but the stand by line was way too long. The fast passes were all gone and unfortunately, I didn’t realize that they would open back up for EMH (live and learn); so no space mountain for now. Tiara still didn’t want to ride BTMRR or splash mountain she we skipped those. Instead to Chase’s disgust, we rode peter pan since there was little wait and buzz lightyear. I wanted to ride the transit authority and told the kids that they had to ride with me. They wanted to ride that space thing above it first though. The line was long and I wanted to get on my ride but since Tiara actually wanted to ride the other ride, I didn’t want to stand in her way and sent them on their way. I spent the next 30 minutes on a bench waiting for them. Unfortunately for me, the transit authority isn’t open during EMH and it closed while they were riding the other ride. UGGHHH! To make it up to me though, the kids agreed to ride another one of my favorites again, philharmagic, so we ran over there. We tried space mountain again but no such luck. I decided to let Chase ride splash mountain since there was no wait. Of course he got stuck on it again and Tiara and I spent quite a bit of time waiting for him. So far, our EMH at MKG was a bust. Tiara and Chase were starting to get fussy so I figured they had had enough. Of course, just like kids…….they perked up when we passed the confectionary on main street. I let them get those tubes that you fill with the powdered candy.

I warned them of their habit of falling asleep on the bus and that I wasn’t holding their candy. 5 minutes into the bus ride, where do you think the candy was?????????? That’s right, on the floor! Another rider mentioned it to me but sneaky little aunt candy in me decided to teach them a lesson…. (I KNOW…BAD AUNT CANDY!) I picked them up and hid them. Chase was trying desperately to get up and look for his candy…I finally gave it back. He fell back asleep and this time hit his head on the seat trying to keep it up! I laughed…….(I KNOW…….BAD!!!!!!!) but I fixed it when I realized I was being bad and the bus was hysterically laughing when they saw my guilt and I spent the rest of the ride rubbing his head. The kids passed out as soon as we got back to the room.

Some how we plan on hitting Typhoon Lagoon in the morning and have our Fantasmic Dinner Pkg at H&V!

Wow! You had a busy day and got alot done. I can't believe Tiara brought 10 pairs of shoes. Did she care that the new shoes didn't match her outfit anymore?

Wow! Great report! Your DNeph and DNiece are very cute!!! :)

Way too busy of a day. We definitely needed to slow down after this. She picked out these really expensive shoes because they matched but i convinced her that the yellow in the cheaper tinker bell ones was enough to still be matching. She tried to keep the broken shoes. I had to give them to the cast member to dispose of so she wouldn't spend the rest of the day trying to fix them.

Wow! Great report! Your DNeph and DNiece are very cute!!! :)

thank you.

Sounds like you did do alot this day! The Beverly pics are great! It is so cruel, yet fun, to watch unsuspecting people take a sip! LOL!

10 pairs of shoes? Oh my! LOL!

i believe she only ended up wearing 5 of them. the others were extra!

Great trip report! The kids sounds like they had sooo much fun!!

i was worried that they weren't. worried that tiara wasn't because she was scared of everything and worried that chase wasn't because he had to ride things alone and couldn't share some rides with me. i was wrong though. their parents assure me that they had an awesome time and are going to be talking about the trip for a long time to come.

Hey Candice! Lan sent me the link to your report! Now I've gotta catch up! See ya!

Mostly lurker...but had to come out of lurkdom to comment.

Those are some seriously cute kids. Your niece will inherit her namesake some day. She has princess written all ovah her!

And your nephew is so handsome. He resembles his Daddy. In the face of such an awful tradgedy I am sure his Mom takes comfort in seeing his Father in him. You know like the song from the Lion King Broadway musical "He Lives in You".

Okay, enough of the sad stuff...bring on the trippie! I am really enjoying it!

i know that i am bad but...... had to do it! Chase actually kept trying to prove he would get used to it (trying to be strong i guess) and tried it again and said that the taste had changed......5 seconds later he was spitting it out again!

Ok that's really funny. I've never heard of anyone wanting to try Beverly more than once. :rotfl2:

Day 3 – Typhoon Lagoon & Fantasmic Pkg

I hadn’t been to the water parks in years. In fact, I have never been to blizzard beach so we had plans to hit both parks this trip. We wanted to be at typhoon lagoon at opening but last night’s EMH did us in and we slept in. we had breakfast in the room again and finally headed out. We arrived at the park only about 1-1 ½ hours after opening so we were still good. I convinced the kids to hit all the slides we wanted to first and then the wave pool. They were most excited about the wave pool so I knew once they got in there I would have a tough time getting them out and we weren’t staying all day. We made a quick stop at the store to get a plastic case for around my neck for stuff and rented a locker for the big stuff. Of course Tiara was already starting with the excuses. Thankfully she got over any fears she had and got on the slides with us. She and I both skipped the really steep one but chase went on. He said it was a lot of fun but something he only had to do once as he was really scared. The woman who got off in front of him kept yelling “I’ve got a wedgy….i’ve got a wedgy!” and trying to pull her swimsuit out of her butt. The kids and I got a real good laugh at this and the people waiting for her at the bottom walked away from her quickly.

We were most excited to ride crush n gusher but it wasn’t added to the maps well. It took us awhile to realize that we had to go all the way back to the entrance and finally found the right path. We were lucky to get a raft pretty quickly as there were rafts for 3 and many people were groups of only 2. this allowed us to keep our raft and ride again with no wait. Okay……….so maybe it was the excitement of the ride or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention but at some point the lifeguard told us to “raise up!” If you haven’t rode this ride before let me warn you of one thing. There is a conveyor like belt that moves your raft onto the slide over a small hill. If you do not raise your butt up in the air, well………you can guess what happens! YES FOLKS, I HAD TIRE MARKS ON MY BUTT AFTER THAT! Not fun! And as if I didn’t learn my lesson the first time, yes I got on again. BEG AUNT CANDY AND SHE WILL DO ANYTHING! This time I remembered to raise up but the damage had already been done. I wasn’t a fan of this slide at all. I was naturally the heavier of the 3 of us and had to sit in the back and so everytime the jets pushed us up and over, I came out of the raft and bounced back into it pretty hard; each time hitting my butt and limbs on the slide.

We hit the wave pool next. I had gotten the kids so excited about the whole story behind typhoon lagoon and the typhoon that hits. They were waiting….and waiting…and unfortunately, waiting. There was a malfunction of some kind and we ended up just messing around in the wave pool with small waves around an hour or so. We played around and took these photos.

Finally all was fixed and the huge waves began. The kids loved how each wave knocked them all the way back to the beach. I forgot to mention that I had to purchase a new swimsuit before we left for the trip as I had decided to wait until the last minute to get a new one. My old one I threw out as I had lost some weight and was tired of it anyway. I was stuck with very minimal choices on the racks and ended up having to buy one at my original size. Not the best choice I know but I was desperate. Needless to say, a water park with slides and huge waves is not the place to have on swimwear that doesn’t fit. I spent most of my time holding onto my top and holding my shorts up. Sorry if I mooned anyone but water soaked fabric is heavy. We got out for lunch. We ate at typhoon tilly’s. Chase got fish & chips; Tiara nuggets and fries; and I got the pulled barbecue pork sandwich ($25). It was really good but we could have done without the bees that came free with your meal! After this we headed to the lazy river to float around the park. The kids and I got separated and when I got to the end (back at our starting point), I couldn’t find them. They decided to head around again though I had already told them we had to go. The not listening thing was bound to come to a head soon and Aunt Candy would most definitely blow. The kids had this habit of asking me a question, I answer it, and then they ask the question again 5 minutes later. Several times I told them to wait and listen for the answer or just stop talking. This went on and on throughout the trip.

We needed to get back to the resort to shower & change and head out for our Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood & Vine. We rushed out of the room so fast that I forgot our ponchos and it was starting to get cloudy. I sent chase back for the ponchos and after waiting forever for him to return, my patience had worn out. Of course he returned with the wrong thing. This is where I lost it. Sorry folks but the great and powerful oz had something to say. I apologize to anyone within listening range of my rant all the way to the bus stop but Chase had pushed my buttons. Up to now, Tiara was the one that I had issues with; with Chase it was definitely the not listening thing. His response “I didn’t hear you!” HUH!! I tried explaining to him that if you do not hear something, you ask the person what they said. If you do not understand what they said, you ask them to explain. If you weren’t listening as I suspect you weren’t, then you do the stupid thing you just did. We decided not to speak to one another until we reached the studios. In fact, he tried not to even sit with Tiara and I. He got over it and I was able to shake it off by the time we got to the park. We checked in at H&V and waited for our table.

100_0360.jpg

Okay so here is where the trip took a dramatic turn. It started to thunder and there were a few lightening bolts. Tiara started squirming. I asked her what was up and she just started saying over and over again, “is our table ready? Is our table ready?” while rocking back and forth, mind you. I know that some people have problems with lightening; I know my grandmother did; especially if she was outside. I pointed out all the lightening rods on the buildings and umbrellas and assured her we were fine where we were. Then the rain started. She slid as close to me as she could get on the bench and said “oh well, guess the show is out!” HUH! I don’t think so; this is florida; it rains all the time. If the show is on, we are going! Our table was finally ready and we were sat next to the window. Our waiter took our drink order and we hit the buffet. The kids really enjoyed the choices. It wouldn’t be my first choice; especially if I didn’t have kids with me but for them there were lots of choices and they loved it. When we sat back down, the rain started again and this time it was pouring down the window and blowing the umbrellas outside. I look across the table and Tiara was crying into her shrimp. I kept asking what was wrong but she kept saying nothing. Chase lost his patience with her and started to say something but I pinched him under the table and he kept his mouth shut. The waiter kept asking what was up and I finally just told him to ignore her. When the rain stopped, so did Tiara! HUH!!!!!!!!! Was she crying because of the rain? Okay so I am the kind of person who runs in the rain barefoot and sings; what is going on with this kid? Luckily the rain was done for the evening and we went without incident for the rest of the night. This unfortunately was the start of many rain incidents.

We were given our fantasmic entrance tickets and we went off to explore the park a little before heading into the theatre. We were able to hit the Narnia attraction and the great movie ride. The movie ride is one of my favorites but of course Tiara had her nails into my skin holding on so tight. I warned her of the alien section and let her sink down and close her eyes and put those fingers in her ears. I was just too tired to deal so this just seemed easier. There were a lot of people heading into fantasmic already and it wasn’t even 8 pm. The show started at 9 pm and I didn’t know that people without the pkg in the regular section were allowed to go in and sit down early. We decided to head in and not chance that people in our section would take all the good spots. We encountered a cast member who stopped us and started asking the kids questions about year of a million dreams. Thought we were in for some surprises but it was just a jerk playing tricks. The kids were not amused and bummed that they didn’t win anything.

The hour wait was wearing on them. I had almost forgot our glow sticks and pulled them out. They spent some time decided what to make. Chase made handcuffs; Tiara a necklace; and I had on bracelets that ended up in my hair by the end of the night.

100_0381.jpg

The show was so good. In all my Disney trips; this was the 1st time I had every seen it. We just never made it on any other trips. The kids loved it so much. Even though Tiara spent most of it with her fingers in her ears, she loved it and said it was worth the wait.

100_0374.jpg

We headed back to the resort and the kids hit the sack. I stayed up trying to figure out the best way to get to our breakfast in the morning at Boma. By the time I went to bed, I had decided to just take a cab. If we even went; we were still so full from dinner.

Up Next: DHS and my first DIS sighting; and Disney quest.

It sounds like your meal was good.. We've never done the Fantasmic package because I really wasn't sure about the restaurants that were included. Do you think it was worth it to do the package? We went to Typhoon Lagoon also and we loved it. Glad to see Tiarra made it out of the storm OK. :)
