Day 2 – 07/20/2008
I just got my photo pass pics so I wanted to load up this one on main street. Sorry, for some reason it scanned in darker???
I wanted to try and make it to EMH at epcot today so I woke the kids up early and we had breakfast in the room (cereal, granola bars & apple juice). Before we left home I showed Tiara all footage that I could find on test track. I love this ride and I knew she would too if I could only get her on it. After seeing it on tv she felt confidant enough to ride. I should also mention that Tiara’s mom is a clothes horse. She must be matching at all times; very different from me. I could care less of I look like a clown. She has unfortunately passed this trait onto Tiara so Chase and I waited while she prayed over her outfits to find the right one. Picking the right shoes (she brought 10 pairs) took another 20 minutes. After many eye rolls from Chase, Tiara was finally ready. (After this I made her pick out her outfits before going to bed). She had on this really cute outfit but I tried and tried to convince her not to wear the matching shoes. Though they were perfect with the outfit, they were a dressier flip-flop with a platform heel. I kept telling her that she wouldn’t be comfortable or able to keep up with me and Chase but she insisted. SHE WILL LEARN!
We arrived at epcot at exactly 8 AM. Chase and I were heading to the entrance as fast as we could……where was Tiara……….trying to walk in her shoes. The wait for soarin was already 20 minutes but I wanted to hit this first. After going through the whole ride breakdown for Tiara, she said she wanted to get on. I have only rode this ride once before and I wasn’t impressed because of where I was sitting. I could see everyone’s feet. We got the front row this time and I loved the ride. We said that we would make certain to ride again later in the trip but due to wait times, it never happened. The kids loved the ride….even Tiara. She was gripping the handles pretty tight but she loved it! I sent my fastpass buddy (Chase) to mission space for a fastpass and we got in the stand by line for test track. Test track quickly became another one of their favorites and they vowed to ride as often as possible. We messed around for a little bit. Each of us taking pics in our choice of cars.
We realized we were cutting it close for mission space. I was anxious to ride as I have never been on this ride. I usually cannot handle motion rides like this and was afraid to get on. I told Tiara that she would have to experience with me the 1st time.
On our way over, Tiara again was dragging behind because of the dang shoes! When she tried to speed up…….guess what happened………YEP—ONE BROKE! Only 2 rides into EMH and we had to go in search of footwear. She was refusing to put her foot down and wanted to hop on one foot all the way to the store. I very sternly told her to get over it and put her foot down and walk. We ducked into one of the stores and bought her some tinkerbell flip flops. Wanted to say “I told you so,” but I was cool and let it go. When Chase saw her though, he shook his head and let her have it about wearing them in the first place. We made it finally over to mission space. I figured since this was probably the one and only time I would ever ride, why go for the wimpy version. I didn’t like this ride at all and will definitely skip it on future trips. The kids however loved it and since this trip was for them, I told them we would try to ride again. Correction, they can ride and I will wait on a bench. We headed over to another first, finding nemo (none of us liked this one). The effects were cool for what they were but the kids said it was just nice to cool off as it was already blazing hot.
Okay……now the sneaky little aunt inside of me started to come out. I had told the kids about club cool and since we were hot, they thought this would be a good time to find it. I told them about the concept and warned them that not all of the beverages were good (hint…hint… BEVERLY). Chase and Tiara, said “come on, we are kids…we like all soda!” Okay, sneaky aunt springs into action (this was my plan all along). I think you have to trick all newbies into this one! Here are their reactions to Beverly. PRICELESS!
We had pretty much gotten all we wanted to out of epcot for the day and decided to head to AKG. We grabbed a couple of waters for the ride and we were off. Tiara started on the bus about how she planned on keeping the glasses off and her fingers in her ears during it’s a bug’s life….Up to now I kept feeling bad and thinking that she wasn’t enjoying herself but I realized that she was and decided not to worry if she missed out on special effects. She didn’t like this show at all as I figured. She kept complaining afterwards about her ears popping. Okay, so I had to give her a little lecture about not keeping her fingers in her ears to avoid the clogging. We were getting hungry and stopped at Restaurantsarus for lunch (2 nugget meals with fries for them and a hot dog with sauerkraut for me ($25). We headed over to primeval whirl. Though there is a lot of jerking, I do really like this ride and thought this was another coaster I could get Tiara on. Afterall it was daytime and she could verify for herself that there were no big drops. While we got in line, my fastpass buddy ran to Dinosaur for fastpasses. When he came back, Tiara quickly asked, “how many did you get?” to which chase replied “3!” Tiara said “why, I’m not riding!” (this became an ongoing theme).
We decided to pretend that we didn’t hear her and just deal with one ride at a time. She was a little anxious when our car was approaching the top but she and Chase soon spent the rest of the ride laughing at my expense. Due to lunch and my stomach, I needed to throw up and they found this extremely funny. They both really liked the coaster (even Tiara) and begged to get on again. I sent them on their way as my stomach was turning from lunch mixed with the ride. While they rode, I called Tiara’s grandmother (whom she is spending the summer with) to fill her in on our adventure thus far. She was excited to hear that Tiara was on a coaster and told me to hang in there.
By the time they got off, it was time for Dinosaur. Tiara said she was absolutely sure she didn’t want to ride so she went to the dino institute to pick out a souvenir for her little brother while Chase and I jumped on. Now Chase has only been on once before (when he was 5)! Yes……….I said 5! His parents and I had never ridden and we didn’t know what the ride was and boy did he freak out. He was crying so hysterically loud that the entire store was hold their hands over their hearts as if they were all heartbroken for him. Needless to say, out of guilt, we bought him anything he wanted in the store which included the biggest dinosaur you ever saw. This time however, Chase is older and I was excited to see how he handled it. He admitted to me that he was scared and spent most of the ride sunken down in his seat. He said that he was so glad that Tiara didn’t get on with us since he was scared he knew she would have been terrified. While we were alone I asked him if he was enjoying himself. I wanted to be sure that he didn’t feel slighted at all since I had to hand hold Tiara a little. He said that this was the best trip ever so I decided not to worry about it.
We met up with Tiara and decided we needed a cold snack. The humidity was killer. We headed to Dino Bite. Chase got the ice cream sandwich made with fresh chewy cookies; Tiara a chocolate milkshake; and a fudge sundae for myself. Chase couldn’t believe how big his ice cream was and remarked that he now understood the name (Dino Bite). He said that you had to be a dinosaur to wrap your lips around it.
It was 4 PM and we decided that we had had enough being in sun. We headed back to POP and enjoyed the pool until about 7:30.
We had dinner at the food court (vegetable lo-mein, parmesan chicken with pasta [x2]) ($24). Tiara wasn’t sure about the alfredo sauce so I asked them for the marinara instead. She said it was really good but after tasting mine, decided to get the alfredo next time. I wanted to head to MKG for EMH (open to 2 AM tonight!) but with our early start, wasn’t sure the kids would make it. They begged to go so we showered quickly and headed back to MKG. Of course they wanted to ride space mountain first but the stand by line was way too long. The fast passes were all gone and unfortunately, I didn’t realize that they would open back up for EMH (live and learn); so no space mountain for now. Tiara still didn’t want to ride BTMRR or splash mountain she we skipped those. Instead to Chase’s disgust, we rode peter pan since there was little wait and buzz lightyear. I wanted to ride the transit authority and told the kids that they had to ride with me. They wanted to ride that space thing above it first though. The line was long and I wanted to get on my ride but since Tiara actually wanted to ride the other ride, I didn’t want to stand in her way and sent them on their way. I spent the next 30 minutes on a bench waiting for them. Unfortunately for me, the transit authority isn’t open during EMH and it closed while they were riding the other ride. UGGHHH! To make it up to me though, the kids agreed to ride another one of my favorites again, philharmagic, so we ran over there. We tried space mountain again but no such luck. I decided to let Chase ride splash mountain since there was no wait. Of course he got stuck on it again and Tiara and I spent quite a bit of time waiting for him. So far, our EMH at MKG was a bust. Tiara and Chase were starting to get fussy so I figured they had had enough. Of course, just like kids…….they perked up when we passed the confectionary on main street. I let them get those tubes that you fill with the powdered candy.
I warned them of their habit of falling asleep on the bus and that I wasn’t holding their candy. 5 minutes into the bus ride, where do you think the candy was?????????? That’s right, on the floor! Another rider mentioned it to me but sneaky little aunt candy in me decided to teach them a lesson…. (I KNOW…BAD AUNT CANDY!) I picked them up and hid them. Chase was trying desperately to get up and look for his candy…I finally gave it back. He fell back asleep and this time hit his head on the seat trying to keep it up! I laughed…….(I KNOW…….BAD!!!!!!!) but I fixed it when I realized I was being bad and the bus was hysterically laughing when they saw my guilt and I spent the rest of the ride rubbing his head. The kids passed out as soon as we got back to the room.
Some how we plan on hitting Typhoon Lagoon in the morning and have our Fantasmic Dinner Pkg at H&V!
