The Great Escape...Pictures, Pictures and more Pictures added 6/27

Just the facts:

-Why the title??? At the least minute the biological mother asked to take the kids to the beach thus we had a few days of peace and quiet to ourselves...what better place to escape reality than to WDW!

-4th Trip to Disney in 20 months (29 days in all after this trip)

-DF 41 , Me 42 We got engaged on our December Trip at HS in front of the hat . Two people that work hard and like to play even harder!

Plans:
-Friday June 18th...fly down, in the evening
-Saturday June 19th...Keys to the Kingdom Tour at MK, Our first Dole Whips, check-in at OKW, Pool time, Dinner at Brown Derby, evening at HS
-Sunday June 20th...Fathers Day...Breakfast at Olivia's, DTD and hot air balloon ride, Lunch at Chefs de France, Afternoon---speciality drinks around the World, Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, Later at Jellyrolls...lots of fun!
-Monday June 21st...Engagement Photo Shoot by Randy Chapman at GF, WL, OKW, then onto MK, Late Lunch at El Pirate, Dinner at Citrico's, Fireworks and Electrical Light Parade and the last ride
-Tuesday June 22nd..flew home and got there just minutes before the kids arrived back at 5PM!!! Whew, we made it...but we did fess up shortly after they arrived home!

And oh yeah, lots of pretty pictures along the way!!!

Yummmo Cako...Glenn's Birthday cake for 1 at Citricos at the Grand Floridian...slightly larger mind you than eazy bake oven cake but totally delicous..white buttercream, chocolate cake and chocolate fudge in the middle...just looking at it...made you gain 10lbs! To the Baker...

Caesar Salad at Yachtsman...errhhh yeah, it had us scratching our head too!

The Best Mango Margarita EVER!!! At Citrico's

And what would an adult only trip be without Grey Goose Slushie's and Grand Mariner Creamsicle Slushies at the counter in France!

And the result of slushies..two very happy people singing in the rain!!!

Seriously nasty coke products from around the world...think I'm kidding, try the stuff from Italy..Oy Vey!!! Glad I drink just gold ole American stuff...

Watch out Glenn...Mickey wants those French Fries...at Chefs de France in of course France..duhhh

And what would a trip be without Grapfruit Cake from the Brown Derby...

Let see, previous trips included long pre-trip planning times, countdown calendars, endless homemade t-shirts, cast member thank you cards, constantly checking and re-checking flight costs, rental cars, lengthy park planning sessions deciding what to see and do ..you name it!

This trip...we just said, screw it, we are going and did it!

Very little pre-trip planning was done and yet we accomplished everything WE wanted to do!

Yes, I say WE. You gotta love it...the Best Disney Dad in the World decided to leave his kids with his ex and head off to Disney for a few quick days of pure Adult fun and excitement...on Fathers Day! What a thought!

So we decided to leave after the kids Mom picked them up on Friday at 5PM. Packed, yep. Changed into Mickey T-shirts-check. Checked the weight of the bag--eeks! 58 lbs..uh-oh! Quick grab a carry on...Okay, now we are ready and off to ABE we go!

Only to find out the plane coming in from Chicago was late..thus we went out about an hour late...that wouldn't be bad BUT we only had an hour in-between to make our connecting at Dulles (you know where you typically have to run accross the airport just to catch the next plane! ) I knew we were in trouble...

We got to Dulles 10 minutes before our flight was to leave...oh lord Got off, ran to check a board and breathe...the connecting plane (coming in from Chicago..notice a theme here) was running two hours late.

So we get to Disney...3AM, check into the Holiday Inn Express for 2 hours and we are off and running, check-in to OKW, and off to MK for the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.

And yes, what would a trip be without a Blue Margarita at Cava del something, something in Mexico!!!
