Hi all!

I've been a forum user for years and recently came back after a fairly long break from the US parks after our 2020 trip was cancelled for obvious reasons!

I am currently in the middle of a five year study on Disney fan families as part of a PhD, and I wanted to share this survey I currently have running in case anyone would like to take part. My research is looking at how Disney fan culture and attachment to Disney is passed from generation to generation, and also the role Disney can play in family bonds and family identity.

From reading posts on this forum, I know so many of you will have such fascinating insights in to this topic, especially those that share your love of Disney with partners, kids, parents, siblings and other family members! All the data stays anon and the survey takes about 5-15 minutes, and if you have any other questions feel free to DM me! 🥰

I was going to do the survey, but I am from Ireland and it says only for US residents?

Yes, unfortunately the survey is currently US residents only (or those who have lived there a significant period of time)! Hopefully in the future I may be able to study Disney families further afield

Interesting, considering that UK and Ireland are such a big target market for The Walt Disney Company that there is an official Disney third party travel agency specifically for package holidays to Walt Disney World in Florida. Package holidays to Walt Disney world have been heavily pushed to UK and Irish since the 1990's, so your research question "Disney fan culture and attachment to Disney is passed from generation to generation, and also the role Disney can play in family bonds and family identity." very much applies to UK and Irish families. Disneyland Paris opened in 1992.

It just seems odd that you are discounting people outside of America.

I am UK based myself so I totally agree with you! This study was inspired by watching my own children grow into Disney fans. The decision to stay US based at this time is largely just to keep the data manageable as I'm the only person assigned to this study!

Also a lot of existing Disney research argues that there's a strong link between Americanness and being a Disney fan, so one of the interesting things will be seeing if that rings true in my data! Maybe not.

Just been reading through some of the responses to this survey and they're so lovely! 🥰 Such a privilege to have all your Disney family histories and stories shared with me.

I'm over half way towards my target of 100 Disney fans filling out this survey, so thank you to everyone that has so far. There's still plenty of time to share your family story with me, and contribute to this important research about multigenerational Disney fandom.

I would especially love to hear from more Disney Dads/Grandads/Great Grandpas! 🥰
