Last week I spent 2-3 nights each in a value studio, standard, and savannah at AKV in order to see the differences, pros/cons of each type.
The AKL itself is beautiful, and the food offerings at Mara, Jiko, and Boma were great. A couple cons of the studios-first, lack of closet space-only an armoire in each, with half of it for housekeeping stuff.
Also, a little thing, but I miss the little ledge by the door at OKW and BCV-I always dump my room key there, and I didn't have anywhere to do that at AKL.
My first studio was standard. Nice pool view-
Also, it was the first room from the elevators. Probably the biggest pro, though, was that there was a nice bench area almost right outside my room where you could view Arusha savannah.
Cons-being right next to the elevators made it a little noisy. Also, it was on a corner, and the way the balconies were set up, it wasn't too private.
My next studio was a value. For a solo, I'd judge this a "best buy"
Yes, the biggest con for most people is that it's small. For one thing, next to the armoire in the standard and savannah studios, there's a nice little bench-not so here.
And I tried to take a picture of how there's very little room between the bed and the table, but I'm afraid the photo didn't come out well. The paper is there for size reference.
And I heard the CM tell someone that the sink area is smaller so I took a picture, but it didn't seem smaller to me.
In the value studio, the bed is right next to the slider, which I loved, but it may be a con for a light sleeper, since I overlooked the pool.
I thought the view from the value was gorgeous-
and I loved that I was again right near an elevator that went to the pool.
My last studio was a savannah view, on Arusha savannah. Supposedly, the sink area is bigger, but I didn't notice it-
Biggest con was that I was way out there, it was a VERY long walk to elevators (and some people think BWV's hallways are long? They ain't seen nothin' yet!). Of course the biggest pro here was the savannah view, and Arusha especially-
Oh-another con on all the studios I just remembered-the door to the toilet area is a real tight squeeze. Being solo, I confess I often left the door open! Thanks so much for bearing with me for this l-o-n-g explanation and pictures. If I can answer any questions, I'd be happy to.
