The Grand Lady on the Lake: Jan. 2011 *10/26* The Lady's Waiting

Hey Billy - finally caught up with your January plans!

And, to us here in NJ, New Hope is kinda losing its umph. DH and I used to go a few times a year before it got way way overrun with yuppies (we are sooo not like that) - when it was a pufta palace and I still considered it a 'cool' place to check out. Today, I dunno, it seems more of a touristy spot for city folk to come check out. Even my GBFF and his guy don't go there much anymore.

And please, do yourself a favor - avoid the Staten Island men - living so close to garbage heap makes them a little too off-beat sometimes, but considering you have an ex from there, you probably already know that! (SI-ers no flames please, I'm just sayin' it a la Caroline Manzo - if you hang around garbage, you start to smell like it!)

So glad you got the discount & will get to stay at the Grand Lady!!!!
You can still check out CSR in the link in my siggie if you want....I liked it quite a bit & it was very picturesque, but alas it does not compare to the GF but then what really does?:confused3

Well, due to circumstances out of my control, and a whole lotta cash un-flow, I have had to cancel... strike that... delay my trip to the Grand Lady of the Lake. January isn't in the cards, but hopefully we will try again later in the year.

I wanted to add that in addition to some personal circumstances and the cashflow, my thoughts about cancelling this trip were very much in line with my current feelings toward the Resort as a whole. Or rather, what the company has been doing. Minimizing the magic, branding unnecessary things like Duffy, DisneyParksTM, and removing a lot of the individuality hidden amongst the 43 square miles of Vacation Kingdom.

Coupled with the free dining catastrophe, missing dinner menus, the economy, and an overreaching sense of business over experience, you heard it here, folks... I lost a lot of respect for the Mouse. Yes, they're doing what they do to survive, but really. Rising ticket prices and homogenization?

Not that it's the only reason. But c'est la vie. Mama and I are going somewhere else.

:confused3
