After the Safari, we took the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. We had no idea once we were there we would have to get BACK on the train. (We thought they tricked us into going there LOL) It was cool though because we met Rafiki, Pocahantas and Launch Pad. They were so excited because Myles knew who it was and they said nobody knew him.
Do you see Owen in here?
Myles gets so shy in front of the Ladies!
After this we headed to Dino Land. We got the fast passes for Dinosaur (it was only 15 mins standby though) and we all rode Tricera Top Spin. This turned out to be one of Owen's FAVORITE rides. He ket saying "More"... I actually rode this with him 3 times- there was no line. I had never seen this section of Animal Kingdom. It was SO AWESOME!!! It was such a fun area. Wayne and his brother and his neice went on Dinosaur, and then we let the kids hang out in Dino Dig for awhile. They could have stayed in this area for the entire day! They LOVED it.
We had lunch at the Yak and Yeti- By this time it was starting to get really hot. We were so grateful to have a reservation someplace nice and cool. We got these HUGE beers while we waited for our table and had one of our best meals of the trip!
We forgot to take pics of the food- I got Pan Seared Pot Stickers, and Wayne and Jeff got Steak and Shrimp Dish- They said it was SO YUMMY - well, they didnt use those words exactly, but it was something like that but more manly! We got the fried wontons and the brownie sundae for 2 for dessert. The brownie sundea was HUGE- OOEY-GOOEY - and Delish!!
After lunch, Wayne, Jeff, and Shannon rode Everest (it was a 10 minute wait) and we hung out and waited for them in the gift shop. After, we headed over, grabbed a beer from a cart, and got a spot for the parade. Animal Kingdom had low crowds. Here is a picture right before the parade started...
While we waited for the parade to start, Myles got picked to entertain the crowd. They gave him an animal to draw and we had to guess. It was really cute. He got a special certificate. He felt so special.
Wayne did some of this (Twittering) while we waited...
This parade was awesome... Tons of the characters touched my kids somehow... Pats on the head, hi-fives, waves, hugs... you name it. It was so AWESOME!
After the parade, we said our goodbye's to Jeff and Shannon (always tearful... we love them so much and only see them once a year- although this year, Wayne's other brother is getting married in August in Chicago so we will see Jeff again soon) We headed to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. We were looking forward to this. We LOVED it last time we were there. Well, it was YUCKY. We sat down right away, had the WORST server of the trip... we asked about the fried oreo's we got last time, and she told us the chef was fired because he was giving away the free fried oreos. Can you believe that!!!?? She came to our table and was like "are you going up to the buffet tonight?" - there was a huge line so we were waiting for it to go down a bit and we had JUST sat! She dropped us the check, never asked if we wanted coffee - just kid of rushed us through and then there was the "Suggested 18 or 20% tip" This is the ONLY place I felt like it really should have been 15%. The lines were so long- most of the food wasnt replaced so we missed stuff we would have wanted to try and the service was bad. I still left 18%.
After dinner, we went back to POFQ. Myles and Wayne met a family from PA (they were on a large family reunion) 4 of the kids and Myles and Wayne played a game of soccer in the courtyard at the hotel. It was lot's of fun.
Getting ready for bed after a great day,
Up Next: Day 6 - Sunday, May 10th - Mothers day!! MK (1900 Park Fare, Plaza, and what should have been Ohana turns out different than planned because of a fire at Ohana!)
