The Goodys go to Disney!! POFQ - May 2009 - 8 Days - Deluxe Dining & 630 Pics!!

Hello!
I saw you on Wendy's PTR and I thought that I would come along for the ride with you and your family. I learn so much from all you guys trip, that it makes planning mines MUCH easier. :woohoo:

Just joining in....your family is beautiful! My husband and I just got back yesterday from a "couples" trip to the Poly (our very first time onsite and first time without our 3 kids)! We must have just missed you - we were there from the 13th - 17th!

I'm going back to get all caught up, but just wanted to stop in and subscribe! :goodvibes

Sara

Now this is what I'm talking about!!!!!! That looks so good. I can only imagine how good this must of tasted after walking around in the heat all day!
--Wayne... Do you remember what beers made up this flight??

I have just caught up. I've been super busy with work(only to get busier!!!) It seems like you were having a great time so far. I don't know if I missed it but how did you guys like PO?? I was thinking of it when I booked our last trip but we ended up at CSR.

OK...so I remember Guinness, Smithwick's, Murphy's, and I can't remember what the fourth one was. Harp, maybe? I just read somewhere they have a whiskey flight too. Wish I knew about that before. They also have another pre-selected beer flight and they have an option to create your own 4-beer flight as well. And yes...it was extremely good after a long day. As were the mussels. And the crabmeat salad. And the bread and butter pudding. And the beer. Yeah, I know I already mentioned it.

As for PO, we stayed at Riverside last time and French Quarter this time. I liked French Quarter better because it seemed smaller and everything was close by, but Nickie seemed to like Riverside better. They had a lot of activities at Riverside that were not at French Quarter (I took Myles fishing at Riverside, for example), but I liked the food court at French Quarter better (Muffallettas and Beignets...schweet).

How awesome...I could never have anything like that happen to us...Lucky Lucky Goody family on a great vacation!!!! cannot wait to hear more...

never say never.. this is Disney after all!!

Those beer choices seem great to me!!!! I don't know if I'll make it there to drink one of those flights when we go in October....maybe March would be my best option! POFQ looks so nice & quiet. PO will have to go on my list of places to stay... along with 10 others. LOL:lmao:

After the Safari, we took the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. We had no idea once we were there we would have to get BACK on the train. (We thought they tricked us into going there LOL) It was cool though because we met Rafiki, Pocahantas and Launch Pad. They were so excited because Myles knew who it was and they said nobody knew him.

Do you see Owen in here?

Myles gets so shy in front of the Ladies!

After this we headed to Dino Land. We got the fast passes for Dinosaur (it was only 15 mins standby though) and we all rode Tricera Top Spin. This turned out to be one of Owen's FAVORITE rides. He ket saying "More"... I actually rode this with him 3 times- there was no line. I had never seen this section of Animal Kingdom. It was SO AWESOME!!! It was such a fun area. Wayne and his brother and his neice went on Dinosaur, and then we let the kids hang out in Dino Dig for awhile. They could have stayed in this area for the entire day! They LOVED it.

We had lunch at the Yak and Yeti- By this time it was starting to get really hot. We were so grateful to have a reservation someplace nice and cool. We got these HUGE beers while we waited for our table and had one of our best meals of the trip!

We forgot to take pics of the food- I got Pan Seared Pot Stickers, and Wayne and Jeff got Steak and Shrimp Dish- They said it was SO YUMMY - well, they didnt use those words exactly, but it was something like that but more manly! We got the fried wontons and the brownie sundae for 2 for dessert. The brownie sundea was HUGE- OOEY-GOOEY - and Delish!!

After lunch, Wayne, Jeff, and Shannon rode Everest (it was a 10 minute wait) and we hung out and waited for them in the gift shop. After, we headed over, grabbed a beer from a cart, and got a spot for the parade. Animal Kingdom had low crowds. Here is a picture right before the parade started...

While we waited for the parade to start, Myles got picked to entertain the crowd. They gave him an animal to draw and we had to guess. It was really cute. He got a special certificate. He felt so special.

Wayne did some of this (Twittering) while we waited...

This parade was awesome... Tons of the characters touched my kids somehow... Pats on the head, hi-fives, waves, hugs... you name it. It was so AWESOME!

After the parade, we said our goodbye's to Jeff and Shannon (always tearful... we love them so much and only see them once a year- although this year, Wayne's other brother is getting married in August in Chicago so we will see Jeff again soon) We headed to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. We were looking forward to this. We LOVED it last time we were there. Well, it was YUCKY. We sat down right away, had the WORST server of the trip... we asked about the fried oreo's we got last time, and she told us the chef was fired because he was giving away the free fried oreos. Can you believe that!!!?? She came to our table and was like "are you going up to the buffet tonight?" - there was a huge line so we were waiting for it to go down a bit and we had JUST sat! She dropped us the check, never asked if we wanted coffee - just kid of rushed us through and then there was the "Suggested 18 or 20% tip" This is the ONLY place I felt like it really should have been 15%. The lines were so long- most of the food wasnt replaced so we missed stuff we would have wanted to try and the service was bad. I still left 18%.

After dinner, we went back to POFQ. Myles and Wayne met a family from PA (they were on a large family reunion) 4 of the kids and Myles and Wayne played a game of soccer in the courtyard at the hotel. It was lot's of fun.

Getting ready for bed after a great day,

Up Next: Day 6 - Sunday, May 10th - Mothers day!! MK (1900 Park Fare, Plaza, and what should have been Ohana turns out different than planned because of a fire at Ohana!)

You guys don't look too hot in your pictures. I think that's quite the accomplishment. We were there the day after you and I think I'm 2 inches shorter from melting.

Sorry about the service at Boma. You should have left less then 18%. My dh says he'll NEVER pay that much of a tip at a buffet. You'll find out what he did at Tusker House in a few days on my TR. SO embarassing!

I just want to add something else that was pretty funny here. So, we went to Rafiki's Planet Watch and, like Nickie said, we were trapped there. We, for some reason, thought it was a shortcut to Dino-Land, but I asked a cast member and she was like, "Oh no. To get out of here, you have to go back on the train..."

But the funniest thing was how desperate everyone seemed to have us there. Every time we would ask someone about what was going on in there or if Jiminy Cricket was coming, they would always end their answer with "but it's really cool in there" or "there's a giant snake in there...you should check it out" or "I really recommend checking the whole thing out. It's really great." It was pretty funny. They were right though. It was a rather large snake. And, yes, the snake was cool.

Oh we melted. Actually the after was Mothers Day and we were at the MK and we MELTED!

I cant wait to hear about the Tusker house!!

Another fantastic day! Your boys are just too cute! I love how they give each other kisses and cuddles - my three boys wouldn't dream of it!:rotfl2:

I have to say that Boma isn't a restaurant that we fancy all that much and that doesn't sound like a very "Disney" server at all! Every cast member we met last year couldn't have been nicer but I suppose there are always going to be some aren't there?:confused3

Can't wait til your next installment!

Just wanted to chime in here...that pin was a "congratulations" pin. I think you can use it for any celebration they don't have a specific pin for. If you go to the will call, just say your niece is having a graduation. Who knows...maybe they will have created some pins for that by now.

Trust me... for as many hugs and kisses they give- they do a lot of fighting over toys.

Thanks!! We are already starting to build our list of places to try next time around... Boma I do not think will make the list.

They live in Sarasota so they drove to meet us at AK. We already told them to plan for October 2010 and meet us at the MK for the Halloween party!!

I was praying for some rain! It is so hot- the rain would have felt great!! When we went in Sept. it rained a lot. We still had an AMAZING time. I know you will too!!

Wow, can't wait to see what happens at 'Ohana! :scared1:

Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow DIS Mom's!! Now this is the place to celebrate being a Mom!!!! For Mother's Day we had a great day planned!!! I got the cutest t-shirt sent to the hotel that Wayne had designed for me. It was a pink t-shirt with Tinkerbell on it, and it said, "Even though I'm a Mom, I'm still a Pixie at heart!" So cute!!!

mothersday.jpg

We started our MAGICAL day at 1900 Park - wow, the Grand Floridian is just beautiful. They gave all the mom's a flower, took our picture and sent us to our table. The room was beautiful, the food was so good, and the characters were great. It was such a nice place to be on Mothers Day and a great start to the day.

Peek a boo!

After breakfast, we hopped on the monorail and headed to the Magic Kingdom!

We went right to Buzz Lightyear rode it and got a fast pass, then went to Astro Orbiter- we took the elevator up and away we went! The boys loved this ride. (we had no wait on anything!!- actually tomorrowland was EMPTY)

After this, we went to Monster Laugh Floor, which was AWESOME!!! They put the camera on Wayne and him and Myles had to Dance for everyone several times during the show. It was hysterical. Owen just thought it was so cool that Da-Da was on tv!!!!

monster.jpg

We headed to ToonTown (Owen fell asleep) Myles had a BLAST in Toon Town. He could have spent the whole day there. They went on Goofy's Barncoaster, Donalds Boat, and we visited Mickey's and Minnie's House!

Ok- it's 5:00 and I need to leave work!! More to come on our Magical Mother's Day at MK!!

isn't it funny how kids love the characters and are shy with the actual people who are just dressed (good sign I guess--not to be too friendly to stangers)...

I love how Myles is like hurry up with the mad hatter and alice and all over pooh and tigger and Owen's face with Mary Poppins is priceless...

Owen's Favorite....Pluto up next! (Isn't this the BEST picture!!!??)
IMG_1757.jpg
That picture is priceless!!!! What a magical first day (except for check in). I stayed at Poly in Jan with my DD(10 on Friday). We watch the Electric Water Parade nearly every night-she LOVES it- but we didn't see it with fireworks-how cool!!!!

While in line, we meet Bernadette (LovesDumbo) and her son and chat with them a little before they let us in to get those great pictures of Main Street with no crowds!!!!

It was HOT wasn't it? That was our 5th day so we were getting used to it by then.

Do you have frost this morning?
