The Goodys go to Disney!! POFQ - May 2009 - 8 Days - Deluxe Dining & 630 Pics!!

I just read your last update and am sad your report is over. It sounds like a nice last day though and one that was filled with magical moments! I love that Mickey took your little guy around with him during the parade - how sweet! And Remy looks adorable! How fun!

I'm glad you already are thinking about your next trip!:banana: I have to say that staying at the Contemporary has always been a dream of mine as an adult (I stayed there as a child, but don't recall anything), but staying at the Poly this last time with just my husband really has me wanting to take my kids to stay there - it was just beautiful! Either way - you will be very happy, I'm sure!! :goodvibes

Great report!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with all of us! :)

Sara

I was just going through your whole report. Great pics, the boys look like they had so much fun. I love your ticker....check mine out.....I'm so excited you ,me and Wendy are planning our trips to go back next year around the same time. I hope they all stick, we'll have alot of fun planning again together next year, i'm so excited.

Hi Nickie! -I am fairly new to the DIS boards. I love, love, love to read dining reviews and did not even know this forum existed (I landed here last night by accident). So I thought wonder if these trip reports would be helpful - so I picked one and it was yours.

I could not stop reading!! First let me say what a beautiful family you have! You and your husband are just precious and your boys are adorable. It is so awesome to see in their pictures how much they love and enjoy each other. How fun that they want to share a room now!

Thanks for your review!! You did such a great job!:thumbsup2 I truly enjoyed it and learned a lot! I am planning to have Mickey call my boys the day we leave for WDW (did not know that was even possible). It was exciting to read all the "magical" experiences that you had on your trip. I think it is so fun that you and Wayne are both on the this board. My DH loves that I am a type A planner because he just gets to show up on our all our trips. ;)

I also enjoyed your side trip report to Cape Cod. We went there about 10 years ago while we were in Boston (my BIL's family lived there two years before being transferred back to TX - actually Franklin and he worked in Boston). We did not get to enjoy Cape Cod as it was winter,r but I would love to go back someday. I want to tour the Cape Cod chip factory (my fave). :rotfl: We also can not wait to get back to Boston - we really enjoyed our two trips there.

Thanks again for your review. Your review has me "hooked" to the trip report forum now. Off to read another one! :surfweb:

Take care!! Jenn

I love your final update. So cute that your son got to see his pal Remy up cloase and in person.

Thanks for sharing your great trip report! Your boys are adorable and it sounds like you had a wonderful trip. How cool about Remy! I haven't seen that before.

I also enjoyed your mini trip report to the Cape. I lived on Cape Cod (Hyannis) until I was 7 and we have gone back most years for vacation. Love it!

What a magical last day!!!! Glad Remy came back around to see Myles!!!

Loved your Cape report too-looks like you guys had a great weekend.

I love the dress. It's so cute!! I am glad to hear you liked the contemporary. I think that is where we will try next time... I would LOVE the Poly, but I was running the numbers and it would be $500 more than the Contemporary and we could use that $500- to upgrade to deluxe dining!!
I have stayed at both and really prefer the Poly. Do you unpack on vacation or live out of your suitcase? The CR rooms have very little drawer space. The rooms are beautiful but I didn't find them very guest friendly. I hated the very low/glass sinks.

It is nice to be able to walk to MK from CR but I find Poly more convenient overall because you can monorail or boat to MK and then walk to TTC for direct Epcot monorail.

I also like the pool at Poly better. Captain Jacks is nice too but when I stayed at CR they were in transition so I don't know they have for quick service now.

I only stayed at CR for 3 nights so I don't know how well you watch the fireworks from there but I love the fireworks from the beach of the Poly, love the tiki torches, love the music.......

SO sad it is all done. Can't wait for the TR. We are also planning to go back fall/winter of 2010. Maybe Sep would be better. I also really want to stay at the Poly or Contemp.

I absolutely loved your trip report! You all look so happy all the time (except for the melt-downs of course!) and I also love TRs with lots of pictures of food! :cloud9: I'm going to have to remember when you're going next time so I can follow along again! :goodvibes

Hey I just want to say I just read your entire report and loved it! You have an adorable family and it looks like you had a truly magical time. I can't wait to read your next TR :goodvibes

Thank you!!! We did and we are already starting to plan the next one.... I will be starting the new Pre Trippie in a few weeks!!!

Great job on the trip report hun...I can't believe it is over.

And I hope none of my co-workers can see over my shoulder in the hotel lobby because I am supposed to be doing work.

Well, I am ready to start planning for September 2010. Bring on the Disney Nights!!!

I love you...

Thank hun!! Yes we will have to start our Disney Nights again. I love how you are as excited about Disney as I am!! It makes planning the trip so much fun.

I read all of your TR last night and what great reading! You guys had an awesome time. I loved seeing the empty parks in the mornings. That was too cool. We have never done that before so that is something we are going to have to try and do one of these times.

Thanks for sharing your vacation and can't wait for more! :yay:

Yes!! Empty parks is something you should try to see! It was really nice.

Sara, Thanks for reading along! I am torn on the Poly- I really think I will like it better, but I also think I will love the CR and the $500 makes a difference when it would pay for the deluxe dining upgrade!! We will have to see what Disney brings us for promotions in this next year!!

Jenn,
Thanks so much for the nice reply! I am glad my trip report wasnt too boring and gave some good ideas!! That was was I was trying to accomplish with it. I had read SO many, and that is where I got so many helpful tips that really made our trip so magical!! I hope you get back to Boston/Cape soon!
Nickie

I love your final update. So cute that your son got to see his pal Remy up cloase and in person.

Thank you- and yes a major highlight from our trip!

Thanks for sharing your great trip report! Your boys are adorable and it sounds like you had a wonderful trip. How cool about Remy! I haven't seen that before.

Bernadette,
Thanks for the info on CR vs Poly!! I do LOVE all the places to eat in the Poly!! It was so nice meeting you at the MK... I hope you will follow along on our next pre trippie!! When is your next trip going to be planned?

SO sad it is all done. Can't wait for the TR. We are also planning to go back fall/winter of 2010. Maybe Sep would be better. I also really want to stay at the Poly or Contemp.

I am recruiting everyone on here for Sept 2010- free dining (hopefully) and MNSSHP! It will be fun planning another trip with you all!

Yes- we had a few meltdowns for sure... but most of the trip was magical. Thanks for reading along!!

OMG!! The PTR & TR titles in Wayne's signature are HILARIOUS! He cracks me up!!!

Alrighty, you have inspired me to set up a ticker and so far we have the SAME dates. Also want to stay at the Poly. Where are you checking pricing? Know when 2010 comes out??? I am alsogoing to do Disney nights-looks like so much fun!

Great report Nickie! I'm so sad that it's over. I haven't started one yet but hope to maybe this weekend. I have uploaded some of my pics so at least I have a start.

I actually priced free dining with this years rates and it would have been cheaper for us to take advantage of free dining rather than the 4/3 deal. That's got me thinking about maybe trying for free dining next year. The only problem will be that for us is that school starts in August and testing occurs in September. I"m giong to take notes this September and see when tests are happening and completing. Josie's b-day is the last week in September so it would be neat to have her 5th birthday at WDW...hmmm. Sorry for going OT.

Thanks again for a great report Nickie!:goodvibes

YIPPPEEE!!! My TA is awesome -if you ever go on allears.net - she is one of the writers!! She told me that we should reserve a room only now- so that we at least have a room where we want and then in August the 2010 rates should be out and then the prices may change a bit. For the Poly the rack rate is 350 and at the contemp it is 280.... so that is why I am leaning towards the CR. BUT.... if Disney releases a promotion or any codes or anything like that then I would LOVE to book Poly or GF!! I am so excited... make sure to post on the disney night thread with your ideas and pics!!

Leanne,
A bunch of us are planning last week in Sept! It would be GREAT if you were too!!! Free dining (i hope) and MNSSHP! And Josie would get to celebrate her bday in Disney!! We will have to have a big DIS meet if so and it would be great to plan with you for another trip!!

I am so sad my TR is over.. I will look forward to your TR to keep the magic alive a little while longer!!

oh man... I just realized Owen will be turning 3 July 27th- 8 weeks later we plan to go to Disney and he would be 3- (and we would have to pay for him!!) I wonder how much that will add to our trip!?

So when are you starting your next pre TR? Can't wait to follow along.

Right now my plans are to take my baby for her 7th birthday next January. I took her siblings for their 7th birthdays. Her birthday is 1/21 and I don't want to travel on her birthday-she should be in the magic when she wakes up. I also don't want to be at WDW for Martin Luther King day-I would have to pay a premium and deal with crowds. So I'm thinking 1/20/10 to 1/27/10. She really wants to stay at AKL so I hope I can get a deal there. Her siblings went to Pop for their 7th birthdays but I just took her brother to AKL......

I was hoping I could get a quick trip in before then but I don't know if that will happen. My DH really wants to do something else for our family trip.:confused3 We'll probably end up in North Conway.....I told him he has to plan it. We are going to Sandwich for 2 nights in July with his family-Mom, sister who lives in MA, sister & BIL from St. Louis, niece, her DH & DD(6) from MN. It should be fun. I would like to call that our family trip away from WDW and ALSO do a week in WDW in August.:rotfl:

With work I can't really travel from September to mid November due to budget work so I think I have to face the fact that I won't be back in 2009. I know I'm very fortunate to go as often as I do but I still want to go more. My AP expired 5/1/09 and I didn't renew it for the first time in 4 years.

About $200 for his park ticket and $10/night for DDP or $20/night for Deluxe DDP.

My oldest just turned 10 last week. It will be tough to pay adult prices for character meals for her. I took her to OHana breakfast in January and she had 2 glasses of juice and then said she couldn't eat. We bought the picture so we went back to the room to drop off the photo before going to the parks and as soon as we walk in the room she wanted a snack. At least I had only paid the child rate for the meal she wouldn't eat.
