Hi, just got back from WDW and met some really great traders. I've only been collecting since last Fall so my collection is small and I only get the pins I love. Just wanted to share my experiences this week. Some good, some bad.
*The USA Mickey head pin was by far the most sought after pin by guests this week. They were flying off the carts. A guest was at World of Disney trying to get one because a member of her family was one of the workers at the WTC and she wanted it for them. She said she had no luck for almost a week. A sweet cast member named Dave at WOD gave her his personal pin and it brought tears to her eyes. It was so nice to see a pin make someone so happy.
*I went to the MNSSHP on 10/31 very excited to get a Halloween party event pin cuz those are my favorites. Guess what? They were all released days before Halloween. We were so upset. I really thought that buying a ticket would allow us at least an opportunity to get one but we were completely shut out. Didn't seem fair and lots of guests were unhappy. Maybe next year....
*I observed the same pin trader receive pins from managers and cast members at Epcot three times during my vacation. They "randomly" picked him out of the audience for the 3pm demonstrations and gave him a special pin. This was after he had already told me he had friends that worked there so he could get multiples of any pin he wanted. I actually saw one manager pull pins out of her pocket and discreetly give them to the trader. It upset me and I did complain to an op mgr at guest relations. Left my name and number and still waiting to hear from them.
*Met two really nice traders who traded me simple rack pins for a Tokyo and Disneyland Halloween pin when I told them I'd bombed out with the party pins. I thought that was really sweet. There are some sharks but there are also some good guys!
