The good, the bad and the ugly about Disneyland guides??

I wonder if UG for DL's "page constraints" are the primary reason why the print is so #@%! small-- UGH, again! I better pack lots of carrots and one of those sliding mangifying-glass thingies if I'm bringing it along.

On the plus side, its slim size should just fit into the typical overhead bin. ;)

haha to be perfectly honest, Spend a month on Disboards not even, and you will get all the information if not more then you will from that Guide book.

I've never in my life have gone to either DL or WDW, but going soon I thought I would just take a peek at the books so I purchased it.

I was really disappointed, cause I already knew everythign in the book from spending a bit of time on Disboards. Disboards is really really useful.

yup, I also heard about the restriction on the DL version of UG, but I also heard taht the editor lifted that ban. I think it was too late for the 2007 verison, tho.

Personally I liked UG the best of all.

I personally am reading both the UG and Birnbaums at this time. Here are my thoughts on both:

I like the UG, as it has an objective look and commentary on things. A little more detail as to things in the Anaheim area, and things that are not branded Disney. A slower read is in order here as there are lots of tips and tricks throughout the book. :thumbsup2 This is my pick

However...

I also like Birnbaums as it has lots of colorful pictures and presents itself as an easy read. But I feel like I've been reading a DL brochure or advertisement. I look for objective points of view, not paid ones. I find in this book, there are very few negatives/cautions pointed out and few hotels reviewed that are not "Good Neighbor" ones. There is also very little on the eating establishments outside of DL. Very nice maps, and graphics though. A pleasure to look through and keep as a souvenir or memento.

just my 2 cents :shamrock:
