All this talk about Retro Epcot kinda made me wanna make this thread.

Woohoo! Yes! So happy you posted this thread Tyler. Now I can rant about JII AND... The Tiki Room. Here is my opinion on what should be brought back from those days in WDW or just back in the old days-

EPCOT-

Old Journey Into Imagination (maybe a little merge with some effects in the new ride) and the Old ImageWorks (a possible refurb of the upstairs area)
Horizons (Don't feel the need to go on Mission:SPACE. Demolished or not, want it back!)
Old Universe of Energy (While I LOVE Ellen DeGeneres, yeah, the ride seems boring to me)
The Land needs to refurb some rides (Soarin' and Living With The Land are awesome, but there is another attraction, maybe two in there, that could be used for something more popular)
The Seas (I heard about the old version of the Seas, without Nemo, and it sounds cooler, like a flash from the past 20,000 leagues under the sea)
Gran Fiesta Tour (I love The Three Caballeros and Donald Duck, but maybe they should step back and just be M&Ging out front)
Wonders Of Life (Bring it back. It would make for big buzz and a lot of people miss the place, so need it back)

Magic Kingdom-

ExtraTERRORestrial Encounter (I heard the effect of the new Stitch version isn't as "Wow!" as the original, so bring it back and just be wary of younger children)
Pirates of the Caribbean (They cut out so much of the original attraction in Disneyland and I think that should be fixed)
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (Though I heard it really wasn't that great, I think an updated version would be quite nice)
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (I know it was a matter of budgets, but my dad talked about this ride, since he went when the park first opened as a kid. He isn't a Disney fan and if he remembers THIS it must be epic!)
Haunted Mansion (I heard it was a bit more eerie back then. Maybe bring back the pop-up ghosts in the attic. That would be great)

Disney Hollywood Studios-

I think this place is fine, just needs to add more rides and get rid of some, but its mostly fine.

Sounds Dangerous! (Bye-bye! Just go and make room for something better)
Streets of America (Needs some more pazzazz, give us that!)
Parades (Stars and Motorcars really was about DHS and fit with the theme, but Block Party Bash could be a secondary to that)

Animal Kingdom-

AK is fine as well, but I think because its so new, it needs time to evolve

Tarzan ROCKS! (Heard this was a lot better than the Nemo show (which I enjoyed) but I think this sounds more my type of thing)
DINOSAUR (Just change the name back to Countdown to Extinction and I'd be happy. The Dinosaur movie was a Disney movie fail on so many levels. I love the ride though)

That's all I would say about bringing back old qualities of parks.

Tarzan ROCKS was the best show at Disney! I can't believe they got rid of it to put in that Nemo show which is TERRIBLE!

It started in 1999 and ended in 2006. But anyway, it was the best. Rock and roll so loud that my ears were ringing at the end! It seems that Disney is getting rid of the stuff for adults and older kids to bring in little kiddie stuff, like Nemo. :confused3

I miss this show sooooo much!

In a way, I feel bad for Disney. There seems to be like twenty sides to every argument over a change in a ride, those who liked the change and those who didn't and trying to please both, I think it would be hard. Though, I think JII didn't have two sides, so it should be brought back.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea - My mom has pictures of this ride, and I want to go on it so bad!
Pirates of The Caribbean - They should make it just like the Disneyland version
America Sings - Saw it on Youtube,I liked it. <3

Here Come The Muppets - My mom recorded this show when she took my sister down to Disney as a little girl,I love watching it. <3
Old Star Tours - Even though the new Star Tours will be awesome,I'll miss the old Star Tours <3

Animal Kingdom -
I can't really think of anything right now...

MK
Alien Encounter- Stitch is not a great show IMO
Mr Toad- no room for him, but he needs to come back
20K- again, no room or budget, but had a huge fanbase
Tropical Serenade- maybe Disney will surprise us when the Tiki Room reopens this June

Epcot
Wonders of Life- needs a sponsor, but maybe it could become the location for Horizons Generation 2 ;)
Horizons- read above
World of Motion- no room, but it needs to come back
JII- why this was messed with in the first place, IDK
Living Seas- Nemo needs to get evicted, or he needs to get a copy of the Sub ride at Disneyland

DHS

Nothing really, but it needs more attractions

AK
Nothing really needs to come back, but it needs Beastly Kingdom!

I honestly wish I could've seen Epcot back in it's heyday back in the 80's. The Living Seas, Horizons and Journey into Imagination sounded wonderful. And Alien Encounter was really creppy from what I saw on Youtube.

Personally I think "Modern WDW" is a gazillion times better than "Old WDW" I don't really miss any of the old stuff/have any desire for any of it to come back...

but that's just me.

I still love Modern WDW, but I think some things in Old WDW were genuinely better.

TOONTOWN!!!! :sad1:

All I can say is shame on you WDW,shame...-_-

I actually don't mind that Toontown is closing. It was all right when I was little but I think they could make better use of the space. :confused3

I'm also going to miss Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney. I was excited to actually go to the comedy club and stuff (since I'm almost reaching that age) but now it's not there anymore. :guilty:

I don't know how different it is now, because I haven't seen it since the Nemo makeover, but I LOVED The Living Seas.

Ever since I was little, I wondered what it would be like to live on an underwater base. (My grandmother worked with Jacques Cousteau and we had a lot of his books and things around, so I guess I saw pictures of the undersea habitats he had and that's where it came from.) Sea Base Alpha was like all of those dreams come to life.

Now I want to be an underwater archeologist, and my role model is Dr. Robert Ballard, who found the Titanic. I later found out that Ballard was one of the experts who helped the Imagineers design The Living Seas.

So, I'm reserving judgement on the new version of The Seas until I experience it myself, but I'd rather explore with Jacques Cousteau and Robert Ballard than find Nemo.

they should bring back the Bear in the Big Blue House at DHS. i know its not on tv anymore but it would appeal to the preschoolers because its a fun, lively show and it would appeal to the older kids because they would be reliving their childhood which is 1 of numerous peoples reasons for going to Disney.

Also, they should bring back Food Rocks. i used to LOVE that show.

also, they should bring back Tarzan Rocks. i like the Nemo show but Tarzan Rocks is classic! but i wouldnt protest them keeping it inside :)

also, they should bring back the opening act for Beauty and The beast, 4 for a dollar. they put me in a really good mood :)

Also, they should bring back the origonal Living Seas. i loved the elevator ride 2 sea base alpha! the nemo stuff is cute but the origonal was better.

Finally, they should hav kept toontown! that is where i spent alot of time on my first couple trips because i was so small. this Dumbo extention is a little much.

i think this turned into a what Disney should bring back thread lol :)

I remember the podcast Netcot did a Top 7 list on rides that should come back. I requested it too. I think it was the August 2008 podcast.

Okay, so now I've been to the new Seas pavilion, so I'll share my impressions...

It's good. It's very well done, the queue is nice, the little kids seem into it and actually seem to learn from the exhibits, and having images of the characters next to tanks with the animals they're based on inside helped me see how accurate Pixar really was. (The biggest change is that Mr. Ray is a brighter blue than the rays he's based on.)

And when I stepped out into Seabase, I did feel like I'd come home.

But I think it was better before. It's more personable now, warmer, but it feels less high-tech and adventurous.

And they took out the diving suits and submarine exhibits. I asked a CM where to find them and he said they got rid of those a long time ago. I want my hardware back.

(Actually, what surprised me was that the CM flat out said "They used to have those. It was better before." I didn't know they were allowed to share negative opinions so openly.)

But yes, I agree with the CM, it was better before. Bring back Seabase Alpha!
