The Cast:
Me-I love the magic of Disney, even the air is better there!
Dh -AKA- Map Man- loves to plan trips, rarely gets lost, has abnormally strong fingers and is not allowed to push buttons.
DD Lexi -8 AKA Mouth Almighty- Loves Mickey- totally believes with all her heart in the characters and the magic of Disney.
Grandma -my mom- in her 70s she is in great shape and can keep up with anyone but has trouble seeing. Has been on many WdW trips with us. Is staying in Fl. ater this trip until we come back in May to pick her up.
Nanny- Dhs mom- in her 50s (she started a lot sooner than my mom) never been to WDW or traveled much. Doesnt live near us and works a lot so she and Lexi have never spent that much time together.
Day 3 EPCOT
I have never been a fan of Epcot and usually we dont spend much time there. I hate to admit this but I dont really care for a bunch of learning with my fun. Also any time we have been there before it was really hot! Its a long way around the world showcase when you are melting. I believe there was an incident in EPCOT on our honeymoon regarding the heat and my displeasure. That was quite awhile back but the bad vibe over Epcot has always stayed with me. But it wasnt hot today and Epcot now has Soarin and Crush and the Grandmas are excited to go and we did take our kid out of school, so learning here we come!
Thankfully the winds died down and though it was a chilly start- the day was very warm. We were at Epcot for rope drop and Map man walked swiftly for Soarin fast passes. I brought the rest of the crew along at a fairly good pace. Nanny smokes and is rather short so she cant go too fast. Grandma on the other hand is pretty speedy for a old gal ( I know she wont be reading this, as I said before she doesnt see well) She maintains she is in such good shape b/c of all the vitamins and supplements she takes. I may need to look into this. I had warned Nanny and Mouth that we couldnt dilly dally with any characters; we must forge ahead to Soarin. No one gave me any grief and we got there and basically walked on, it was a good ride even though I hate when you can see other peoples feet. Grand ma said she didnt see them. We went and got a snack until we could use our FP 20 minutes later, our second ride was perfect, middle section front row. We were going to do Crush but there was a huge line. So we did Honey I Shrunk the Audience and then headed for Canada. Mouth found a little stuffed Husky in Canada she had to have. She looked sad at me and DH. We told her sure you have money get it. Nanny was taken in by her pitiful face and she paid for Sasha. Nanny and Lexi decided to take a picture with hats from each country- this kept Mouth amused.
Since it wasnt hot or crowded walking though the countries was enjoyable. We had some ice cream in France. I dont remember the order of the countries but we didnt do every little movie ( I have to go slow with this learning stuff) we got to America and it seemed unpatriotic to skip that, so we got lunch there and waited for the showing of American Adventure. That was really cool and everyone liked it. I did wonder why when they were flashing images of people they showed Fred Savage ( you know the Wonder Years kid) DH informed me that it was not Fred Savage, (though no doubt Fred is a great American) it was Ryan White. Hes a genius that Map Man! Grandma said she didnt see Fred Savage or Ryan White.
Go figure. We went on through the rest of the countries . Norways ride had a huge line, we saw the restaurant that we were going to eat at before Frankie the Dining reservation CM lost it or gave it away or what ever , but its all good, tomorrow we will eat at the Castle. We are not ones to hold a grudge. But we are going to call and check on things with Disney dining when we get back to the room.
Mexico had no line for their ride- I now see why , it sucked! But whatever- we didnt wait any for it. I didnt learn much from it and no sign of Fred Savage either. We decided since we had conquered the world we would go back for a nap and go to Fantasmic that night. The Grandmas were excited over the nap. DH and I felt we should use the time to find the Shoneys that we would be eating at the morning we fly out. Grandmas friend would be picking her up there, we have never met him- and she has threatened out lives if we dont behave! Mouth wants to get his autograph. Grandma is having a cow over that. Dh just wants to be sure we dont get lost and miss our plane. Grandma is worried he wont show up or hell be late and shell be left on the curb at Shoneys. Oh the drama! The Grandmas rest- we check out the place where we will be meeting He who shall not be named. ( he sees fine and I dont want to be disinherited so I will have to leave the story of Grandma and _______ out.) Suffice it to say we were all very interested in this b/c Grandma hasnt had any gentlemen callers since my dad died 8 years ago. We got to MGM about 4:30 it was quite packed due to the parade ending and people waiting to get in Fantasmic. Dh and Nanny did TOT she didnt love it. Grandma and I took Lexi to the HISTK playground. We went in for seats at about 5:30, got snacks, I bought Lexi a light up Mickey ear thing b/c she had been very patient and Nanny got a light up crown for the Princess lunch in the Castle the next day. Everyone loved Fantasmic. Nanny said it was her best thing so far. You know how before it is really over people start to leave? The row ahead of us had a family like that but the dad decided to stop half way down the row and stand in front of us and video. Dh told him sit down or if you are leaving leave. The guy turns around and says Calm down we are on vacation here, dont be so ignorant! He is so outraged that we would think he shouldnt stand in front of us with his video camera, he is on vacation cant we see that!?? He does move out of the row and yells a parting "YOU SUCK! " at DH. Have a magical day dude. We had fun telling Map Man he was ignorant and sucked for awhile after that. I may still say it now that we are home just to bring back trip memories for him! I'm nice like that. We got back to The CBR with not much wait. I was glad we didnt stay at POP Century their line for the Bus was HUGE! I hope the Video Camera guy stayed there. Off to bed. Tomorrow lunch with Cinderella!
