Okay, I've had it!

It's time to get myself together. I lost my job two months ago, and I'm 18 pounds overweight now. That's enough!

None of my favorite clothes fit anymore. I'm out of breath carrying laundry up from the basement. And then, three weeks ago, I found out a dear relative of mine was dying. He passed away on Monday, June 30.

That was all the motivation I needed. Life is so, so short.

Here I was, feeling sorry for myself - and then I got the biggest wakeup call I've ever had. Now I'm ready, and I'm so glad you're all here. I need your help!

How do I begin? What do I do? I feel like I'm ready for anything!

Daisy;)

I would think you have already done the first thing, that is deciding to lose weight.

Now, you need to determine which plan you are going to follow and then from there, the people who are using that method will chime in.

Thanks for joining us, and claim your first WISH clippie (instructions are in thread at top).

Plan, okay.

I don't eat junk food or fast food, so that's not a problem.

My main problem is EXERCISE!!! I sit on my behind far more than I should, and just don't like being sweaty and tired. Gym, Curves, just not my thing.

Tae Bo looks like fun, though. Has anyone out there had success with Tae Bo?

Would anyone want to check in daily on the WISH board to report their exercise for the day? I would probably be more motivated if I had to answer to someone!

Awhile back, my doctor recommended the Paleolithic Diet, which isn't a weight-loss plan, but does offer a way to eat for optimal health (which, theoretically, should lead to weight loss, right?). I think I'll try that. Has anyone ever heard of this or actually tried it?

I'm so glad this board is here.

Daisy;)

Yep, making THE DECISION is the first step - Good Job!

Now you just have to decide what program is right for you. There are so many to choose from. Try reading through some of the posts. Ask us questions if you need to. Good luck!

I am on the boards most days if you want to post your results.

Hi Daisy! Welcome to WISH! You have come to the right place! You will find all the support you need to help you meet your goal!

I think to be "official" you need to post to the WISH Challenge thread which is at the top of the page, then you can go to the WISH clipart thread (also at the top of the page) to grab your member clippie! With your enthusiasm and determination I know that you'll be trading in for your 5 pound clippie in no time at all!

(((((((Daisy)))))))

Hello and welcome! :)

Wow, you have had some major stuff happen to you lately, and yet here you are, FEELING very motivated to take control, get back in shape and feel great about yourself. CONGRATULATIONS! That is really incredible!!!!!!

I would be willing to check in daily about exercise. I LOVE to exercise (but then again, I don't mind being sweaty and hot either, it's like a badge of honor, for me!) :p :p :p :p I just got back from rollerblading, which I don't think of as exercise at all. It's lots of fun! Our neighborhood is mostly flat, shaded with old trees and all my neighbors are super friendly (I feel like the mayor when I am out rollerblading 'cuz I wave to everyone). The key to exercising is to find something you enjoy. I tried Tae-bo in the late 90s and had some success with it, but I needed more variety (and you will sweat with that, trust me!) ;)

Glad to have you onboard with us! This is a great place for motivation, inspiration, encouragement and support!!!

If you do start to exercise, over time you will find that it doesn't make you tired (especially if you are keeping your body fueled right). I have more energy NOW than I did before I started exercising, and I started out slow in March and just added to my routine as time went by and I felt like I was ready for a new challenge.

Good luck! You sound very determined, focused and positive, so GO FOR IT!!!

If I remember right, it's basically a low-carb diet, where you're eating strictly whole foods... meats, veggies, seasonal fruits. Things you would have found in paleolithic times... no grains, no gluten, no dairy, no beans/legumes, no refined sugar, etc.

It probably is very healthy... it's also said to help with arthritis, MS and autism. And, if you're following the basics of low-carb, it should lead to weight loss and toning. :)

If you want to read about it, try www.paleodiet.com, or do a search in Yahoo or Google for caveman diet, paleo diet, or paleolithic diet... you'll find a ton of information.

Hi Bliss...Welcome to wish!!! You seemed to have made the first step...wanting to change. You have come to the right place for SUPPORT !!!

Make sure you go up to the top of the boards and post to the thread about getting your Wish membership clippie. That way Katholyn...(nativetxn our moderator) can keep you on the list!!
We check in every week on a thread that Jiminy102 starts...we post our losses or gains or our plautes.

The main goal of WISH is Supporting eachother...wether that means for success or failure or for motivation or inspiration!!! Feel free to post anything at anytime....somebody always knows the right things to say!!!!

I think starting a exercise thread is a GREAT Idea!!! I will be happy to post it up...BUT it will be up to everyone to post to it!! Even if we just do it as a weekly checkin exercise thread like they do with the loss threads.

PM me if you have any other questions....Katholyn..(nativetxn) is the MOST helpful BUT she is out of town for a few days.

Tracy

Okay then, that settles it!

I checked in on the WISH challenge thread up top. Thank you all so much for the support and warm welcome - I hope this motivated feeling sticks with me for the long haul!

I'd love to have an exercise thread, just to keep me in line  . It's too easy to make excuses to myself.

I'm just going to check in each morning and post my exercise and time for the day before. I'd LOVE to hear from other people for daily or weekly exercise check-ins - maybe I'll even work up to stuff like rollerblading :p .

Thanks again. Today I make friends with the treadmill.

Daisy;)

Don't forget - there is also the WISH Journal board - you can start a journal for yourself too! :) I "check in" in my journal almost daily, just kind of rambling on about things like my workouts, what I am eating, if I feel bloated or not, if anyone has noticed I've lost weight, etc. :) Sometimes I'm lucky and I'll have guests come to visit!!! :) Just one more thing to think about!

Hey Daisy!
While I don't mind exercise and sweaty, I just haven't been able to get into the groove do do this with the effort I feel I should. I would be up for some sort of check-in too. What a great idea you have! I know exercise is important so I am trying to set up that as my next goal--getting some sort of routine going.

Keep your mind in this and realize that is most important. You have to buy in to what you are doing for sure. Time is certainly precious. Glad to hear you want to stay healthy enough to enjoy it.
Keep on keepin' on!
