They dropped the news that the last Back To The Future ride in existence is set to close May 31st in Universal Studios Japan.
They never rode it (i think Ryno said he rode it when he was a kid tho).

I knew this day was gonna happen, but it's so sudden.

The time is now, Mr. Pete Werner.
Please send these 3 (or more?) to cover Universal Japan and let them experience one of the greatest thrill rides before it closes forever!

The trip to Japan is very long and tiring, so I'd imagine it would need to be at least 7 to 12 days to do Universal (for a day or 2) and do some touristy stuff (and maybe even Tokyo Disneyland??).

With only 2 months to go on this alleged closing date, lets make this probably obscenely expensive trip happen!
I'll happily donate a few bucks to a Kickstarter/Indie Gogo/Patreon for this to happen :D

@Ryno @Teleclashter @WebmasterPete

I rode the ride in Orlando before it closed and it is one of my favorite rides of its ilk

Sad to see the last one close - especially with so little notice

BTW - this sounds like the plot of some TGIF sitcom where Pete is looking for them for a shoot out at Disneyland and they cut to the inside of a plane heading to Tokyo and there are Craig, Ryno, and JL sippin' cocktails in 1st class

Thank goodness it's Universal
Perfect Universal
Universal Strangers
Universal Matters

I have fond memories of that ride. But it did throw you around a bit. I love anything Back to the Future. Love the movies.

I used to call it "Back to the Chiropractor the ride."

Personally I'd love to see the team cover Tokyo Disneyland. Everything I've heard is that there is nothing like it especially DisneySea.

Yea if the team went to Japan covering DisneySea would be a must. I know Corey and Pete have both mentioned that they would love to go see that park.

Yeah, I have a distinct memory of if you sit in the back on the left or right, you became the victim of slamming into the edge of the car repeatedly.

Bump!

Ok, it appears the final day of operation for the ride is May 31st.
Sooo, OBVIOUSLY, the gang needs to book their tix asap, if not sooner, to head to Japan for a week.
#makeithappen !!

Also, Universal Japan is auctioning off various props from the attraction (including the non functioning, full size Delorean that sits outside the attraction!)

Sorry to necro this thread but it inspired me.

And I made it! I'm posting this from the BTTF ride queue in Osaka. I've been looking forward to this since I was 10.

I just rode Jaws for the first time too. That ride is awesome!

Its not too late for the Universal Team! There is one more week to get here.

Awesome! Enjoy Back To The Future ... it's a pretty cool ride! (I was lucky enough to experience it in Florida many years back)

Awesome - have a wonderful ride, and a :wizard: magical rest of your trip - how cool! :)

Awesome! I hope you ride it more than once!
It's a travesty that the Uni Edition couldn't make it happen in time :D
Unless they are leaving this week...

It's too late for me but there was an unadvertised BTTF farewell express pass which comes with a commemorative glass. Buy it at the gate.

The ride did indeed close today. This takes me back to 2007, when I arrived at USF literally days after the ride closed there. I guess I wasn't enough of an internet nerdlinger in those days to hear about it ahead of time. It was one of the best theme park rides in the nation, in my view, and even the stuff like the faux exhibits in the preshow rooms was very cleverly done. At least the ride footage lives on in certain DVD/Blu-ray editions of the movies.

I guess Pete didn't feel sending a minimum of 3 people to Japan on a whim was worth the money to experience one of the most amazing attractions in the world for the last time in existence.
Ah well...
