My friend sent me this, and I thought it was pretty interesting. You can translate the article into English but it appears that Disney is looking to send the Fantasy to Stockholm in 2022. There's a lot of things to happen between now and then but I found this a little bit surprising. Disney must be planning on sending her to Europe for at least part of the year once the Wish comes to Port Canaveral.

That would be so cool! I'd love to cruise Europe on a different ship than the Magic! (I love the Magic, don't get me wrong, but we haven't done Fantasy yet so I'd be all for it!)

I would love to see either the Dream or the Fantasy doing more interesting itineraries. I’d love to sail on either of them at some point but the itineraries don’t interest us much.

Ooo, nice! I wonder if that would be part of the trip that goes to St. Petersberg? Or maybe instead of?

They may be doubling up on Europe, having the Magic cover more unique itineraries with smaller ports and the Fantasy the more "typical" stuff... or this frees one ship to double up on Alaska.... or who knows these days... This would be an interesting development nonetheless

Maybe the Fantasy is going to do what the Magic does now, and the Magic is going to a new place?

I am curious why Fantasy vs. Dream, if true.

LAX

Thank you for sharing this. It was a very interesting read.

I would love to cruise on the Fantasy in Europe. I'm wondering if they do this only to increase capacity or also to cater to those who prefer the bigger ships.

I would love it if The Fantasy sailed to Europe in 2022. We have got to Gold sailing The Magic in Europe but it would be brilliant to be able to try a bigger ship without expensive flights from the UK

Don't know about permanently. I mean maybe next week.

With the expected delays to Wish thanks to everything going on right now 2022 may end up being more Fantasy and reality :rotfl2:

For me the question has always been what ship (Dream or Fantasy) ends up in Miami year round. This might give clues to the decisions on deployment DCL was looking at. Was being the appropriate word. 2022 could very likely now be 2023. The news regarding the terminal in Miami earlier this week and potential delays there will make it interesting to see how things fall in to place (POM looking to merge the new MSC and DCL terminals to save money).

I remember reading something a while back about how lots of countries are updating their emissions policies when it comes to cruise ships and that the Magic will slowly be "phased out" of visiting a lot of countries because of environmental laws.

That all being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Fantasy head to Europe in a few years instead of the Magic. Lets face it... she (the Magic) is no spring chicken.

The Magic is in great shape. I also can't believe that her emissions are worse than most cruise ships in operation.

Both the Wonder and the Magic operate in emission control areas. Alaska for Wonder and the Med for the Magic, they have emission monitoring equipment on them and use the same grade of diesel that's in your car (while in the emission control areas), this is different from the heavy fuel oil that's associated with bad emissions... so they wont phase those ships out. If the emissions law changes in future DCL will just fit exhaust treatment systems to meet the requirements (as would any other cruise line).

I’ve always thought the Fantasy was “earmarked” to eventually take over for the Magic in Europe. See Europa, the European themed entertainment district on the Fantasy.

I think eventually the Fantasy will basically do what the Magic does now. Miami and Europe. Wonder seems to be the designated West coast ship. They can do whatever they want with the Magic and then Wish will do what the Dream does and then the Dream will do the current Fantasy routes.
