After two weeks at FW at the end of Dec 2010... we have decided (the dw and I) not to return until the renovations of fantasy land is over. 2-3 years, ow that hurts. its a break, I still want to do the weekend trip but I have to hold back.

Who else has gotten burned out..... needed a break, how did you deal with it? Did anybody go to fl, but not WDW? what did you do with the kids?

Our last 2 visits, Oct 09 and Jan 11 we found ourselves not interested in doing the parks much. So we just enjoyed The Fort. :thumbsup2

Don't tell the kids where you r camping, iust before ya'll arrive at the Fort, tell the kids ya'll are play'n a new game, blind fold them and stick in ears plugs til ya get to your site. If they start see'n Disney stuff, tell them it's a cheap Disney knock off and wouldn't be as much fun as the real thing.

When we lived in Miami Beach, we used to go to WDW every other weekend and even though we've moved away- we still go several times a year and yes, we got very burned out. Last year we took a little over a year off from the parks and it was just what we needed. The kids were burned out too and were actually asking to just stay at the campground.

We still went to The Fort several times during the year because we love it but other than going to MNSSHP one night on one of the trips, we stayed away from the parks entirely. When we finally went back to the parks for our December trip, we enjoyed it much more. Except standing in 30 degree weather at the Christmas party- that part we could have done without.

We, too, are taking a little break. We have visited every year since 2005 (sometimes twice a year) for two weeks at a time. This year we decided to change it up and go on our first Disney Cruise :yay: Our last trip to the Fort was last May/June, and we will probably hold off until May/June 2012...a nice 2 year break. However, the kids are *OK* with this because this October we have scheduled the cruise. It will be different, but hopefully just as fun and exciting for them. I could live at Disney 24/7, but DH needs the breaks...hopefully after 2 years, it will be exciting for him again and even more so for the kids!

We took a year break a few years ago, then after our trip in 2009 we took a 2 years break, we will be returning this Nov. After that trip I don't see us going for a at least 3 years. We will be returning to Florida, but will skip Disney and probably go to Fort Meyers Beach.

Maybe I will feel differently after our trip, or maybe Disney will change things up enough to get my interest back, but it just seems things are getting a little stale. Maybe because I see the bills and as the cost keeps rising the bang for the buck seems to be diminishing.

No advice offered here...just chiming in to say we're taking a break from Disney as well until Fantasyland is finished. Visits to WDW in 2007-2009 and to DL in 2010, so we're looking at doing something else this fall.

Although I admit, I still think about Disney World and going back all the time! :lovestruc

We don't go often enough to get burned out. Personally, it would take going a couple of times a year for me to have enough. My DW thinks once every few years is enough. With work and racing, there is only so much time for vacations. We also love the beach, so we usually alternate WDW with a beach vacation. It's been 3 years since our last trip to the fort though. We were racing in 2 regions last year- 16 states between April and October. We barely managed a week in Destin just before school started back.

Teamubr, Did you camp in Destin? If so where? We haven't camped anywhere in FL except the fort. We are planning a long rode trip in 2012. Starting at the Fort in Oct. for 4 weeks and ending up in San Antonio for Christmas.
