Cast.. DH age
Me age 36
DS age 15
DS2 age 11
We were all up at 6am. We knew that today was the day that MK opened at 8am instead of 9am. We wanted to be sure that we were there for the opening.
DH got a refillable mug at POFQ. He had some coffee. We ate the food we brought with us for breakfast. It took me the longest to get ready in the morning. We were at the bus stop by 7:20am. We arrived at MK around 7:35am. We brought a bag with us, so we needed to have it checked. They also checked all our fanny packs. We waited until 8am. I was so excited to get into Main Street. The tree was so pretty. All the buildings were decorated for the holidays and looked amazing.
We promised DS2 that we'd head to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin first. We got to ride that ride 5 times in a row with no wait. DS, DH and DS2 went to see Stitch. I opted to stay out because I didn't know if it would be for me. They all loved that ride. While they were inside I decided to walk to the castle to get some photos. I was the White Rabbit standing all alone. I had DS2's autograph book. I got his autograph, and he let me take his photo. When the guys were out of Stitch we tried to catch the White Rabbit, but he hopped on home, I guess. We did get to see Buzz next. His face cracks me up.
After meeting Buzz we went to Indy Speedway. Everyone liked that.
We then waited to DS to ride Space Mtn. It was quick. Again, no line in this early Sunday AM. We rode Peter Pan's Flight and then the guys did Splash Mountain. I saw a guy on Splash Mtn while waiting for my family to finish riding. He was wearing a plastic bag and was covered from head to toe. There was a crease at the top of the plastic bag. Several people standing around me laughed, and we all wondered how he could breathe. His entire face, head and body were covered by a clear, very large plastic bag.
We decided to eat at Cosmic Rays. It was 11am. We all had burger meals. For some reason the chicken meals weren't available yet. DS2 doesn't eat beef, so I gave him my bun. He was happy with a bun, fries and a drink. No nutritious, but it would get him through until our 4:30 PS at Crystal Palace.
After lunch we saw Philharmagic (that is just an awesome show), rode Winnie the Pooh, saw Country Bears holiday show, rode the riverboat, and explored Tom Sawyer Island. We noticed it was a lot more crowded by this time. Fantasyland had long lines (about 15 min waits, but so many more people than when we first got into the park).
The parade started at 3pm. We decided to get a snack and find a seat on Main Street around 2pm on the curb to wait for the parade. It was sunny and 60 degrees. Very nice weather. The waiting time on the curb for the parade went fast. We had a barbershop quartet come talk with us, sing us a few songs, and then some musicians played. They were very good. The parade was so cute. We were glad we staked out a spot early. When we got up to leave after the parade there had been two rows of people standing behind us.
We did some window shopping, and then we checked in for our Crystal Palace meal. They weren't ready to seat us, so we got a pager, and we walked around until it went off.
We were a little disappointed that we were squished into a very small table. It was obvious that the table was only to seat 2 people, but they pulled 2 chairs over to fit all 4 of us. It was very crowded in there. It was pretty, though. The buffet was good. It wasn't as good as Grand Floridian, but it was still tasty. We had salmon, turkey, beef, veggies, and nice desserts. The kids section wasn't so hot. The pizza was cold and soggy. The mac and cheese was good once they took away the dried out pan. The waiter was friendly. The characters all came around as soon as we were seated. I think they were trying to cram too many people into one restaurant, but we made the best of it. I would probably go back, but I'd definately insist on a table that was actually made for 4 people.
As soon as we left the Crystal Palace we say Rifiki, Timon and King Louie together. They were so wacky. We just laughed and laughed as they picked on the guests. They tickled DS2 and took his hat. DS (he's 15) refused to get his photo taken so these 3 characters chased after him. DS's face was so red, but he did get his photo taken. Timon even checked my digital camera to see if the photo was nice. lol.
The Magic Kingdom was so clean. Everyone was so friendly. The looks on the faces of the children there was wonderful. I was so glad we were there. No one was homesick anymore.
We went back to the resort. I took the boys to the arcade for some air hockey. We bought our cat a Disney cat pet food dish at the gift shop. Everyone was asleep by 10pm.
My next installment will be Day 3.. Animal Kingdom
