The Flippant Trip - (new TWILIGHT TR update 11/16/09 bottom of pg 29)

Sleepless Knight! There is action! Well in Twilight, it's a little bit, but it's in a strong dose. I just started reading the 2nd one and even though I haven't reached any action packed-ness yet, I'm sure there will be more than the first one.

There is a lot of handsome vampire comes and saves mere mortal pretty girl though, which is always good! And a lot of falling in love. We all like that. :lovestruc

That's good to know. I can deal with the romance stuff as long as there's something to keep me entertained. Besides that I'm a strong believer that a prince should have to fight for his princess. It's that whole sword of truth and shield of virtue thing.

I have a confession to make. I'm about halfway through the book.

I haven't decided if I'm going to read the others

I'm glad you're reading it! It's hard to deny the hype especially around here! :rotfl2:

I think the rest of the books are all good as well. Very entertaining. They're a good bunch to read about. A good group of characters you hate to say goodbye to.

I get the books mixed up because I read them all so quickly! I don't remember where the action is. LOL You're going to get some action in book one and in the movie though.

My DH probably will never read Twilight et al. But, I asked him to read The Host and he really liked it. I think you would, too!

It's a book by the same author but a totally different story. The first part was sorta tough to get through BUT the payoff was great.

Thanks for posting the pictures of your Twilight adventure. The back alley is a little freaky- even in the daylight.
What an amazing DH to go along with you.

He's a good one! Thanks for checking out my pics. I was getting laughed at at work but I was trying to explain to them. I'm a reporter. It's all about the sluething, the research, and the HUNT! And then, the reporting. I absolutely love it. :cloud9:

I'm actually quite a mover. I always know what's going on and I love to go do it. People are always shocked about how much I know about where to go and what to do. If there's a fun (usually kid friendly) event happening I can smell it!

You're so lucky to just be on Book 2! Then you have so much to look forward to! LOL I have a hard time getting into books so when I find something I like I miss them so much when I'm done reading bout them. But, like I was telling Sleepless, when you're done, you should check out The Host. It's a very good human drama (comedy, love story, and sci-fi, too). It's very thought provoking.

Finally someone else who has read The Host! SUCH a good book. I actually read it before I read twilight (I thought I couldn't get into a "high school book") and it convinced me to read the twilight series.

Good lord you have created a monster.
So I finish Twilight last night...........& I am up at 7am this morning off to Walmart to get the other books & guess what........they didn't have them. Eeeppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: :sad2:
So I am going to the other Walmart later where I know I saw all the books several weeks ago.
Oh yeah & I will most definetly be fitting in a matinee before I leave for vacay.

Wow! How awesome is that! Thanks for sharing with us!! Did you kiss the cut out of Rob?!! Because I would have!! I would have stolen it!

How awesome is that! That place looked gorgeous in the movie and looks just as great in your pictures! Looks like you had a lot of fun. :goodvibes

I agree with Courtney, I would have stolen the Rob cutout too. :rotfl:

Hi you two! I missed these comments before.

I actually took a picture of myself biting Rob's neck! Too bad I looked more like a walrus then a vampire. :scared: Nice Tusks, lady!

I know! Isn't it weird that she wrote that book in between Twilight novels? It's like.. how much talent can one person have?

I think I'm going to read "A Great and Terrible Beauty" next - I think that's the title. It's another YA book. I don't like a lot of killing and murder and the likes. I'm almost done with the "THe Memory Keeper's Daughter" but it is SO boring! So I'm going back to a little YA fantasy for a minute. See what I Think. Of course, I'm also reading Midnight Sun right now :ssst:

I'm not a huge reader but I'm getting into it more and more. I loved, loved, loved The Poisonwood Bible (and othe books by that author) and also The Secret Life of Bee's. I know I"m oversharing but dis-boards is like my morning coffee. I don't drink coffee and so this helps me wake up. :surfweb: LOL

O My Gawd that is SO funny!

You made my morning! I was rolling with laughter. I had to tell DH about both comments ... You: hilarious!

Sorry, I am going against your advice. A co-worker is letting me borrow her books and I am on page 167 of the first book. I can't put it down! lol. :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, It's too funny, isn't it!!!!! What a weird phenomenon. It's like "Our own personal brand of heroin"

:lmao:

Besides that I'm a strong believer that a prince should have to fight for his princess. It's that whole sword of truth and shield of virtue thing.

I 100% agree. I think Sleeping Beauty has the best love story out of all the Disney princesses. Prince Phillip slayed an evil dragon for her! Now that is love! Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite Disney princess movie and Belle is my favorite princess, but what the did Beast do for her? Throw some egotistical buff guy off a building? Oooohh, big deal. :confused3

I went through the first book so fast! I wanted to take it slow on this one. I’m probably going to re-read the first one once I’m done with the series.

I’ve heard a lot about the Host! I’ll check it out when I’m done reading these. I love reading different books from the same author.

It could be worse. He could have let 7 little dudes push the threat to his girl off the cliff or send a somewhat clueless servant around looking for the girl whose foot fit the shoe. ;)

Now, this is not a knock on those two Disney movies(which I like), but more of a commentary on the concern of many that Disney is lacking in appeal to little boys, especially in terms of in park charcters. I think that Sleeping Beauty is a nice story to empower little boys who want to be the protector/ knight in shining armor.

I have decided though that my favorite love story that I've read is Enchantment by Orson Scott Card.

Ok...so I am reading The Host and I am so glad to know that it is a bit slow at first? I am having a difficult time getting into it but I will continue to read per your comments. I am also reading Midnight Sun...I had held off knowing that 12 chapters would not be enough and with the controversy didn't want to be left hanging, but after seeing the movie, twice now, I can't help myself!:sad2:

Yep, totally agree! :scared1: And thanks so much for sharing all of your wonderful pictures of Forks and the 'prom'. Exciting to know that they used actual locations instead of just recreating them on a sound stage!

I did the same thing, read them too fast and now I can't remember what happens in the different books. I got my sister hooked and she is now filling me in but I want to go back and re-read them when I get a chance. I did starte re-reading Twilight before the movie came out but I stopped so that I wouldn't be disappointed in the movie by comparing the freshly read book and being too nit picky about the movie...I'm glad I did!

Yay! :yay:

Just subscribing. LOVE the pics!!!

My girlfriends and I are planning a Twilight tour for sometime in the summer.

It's misty and drizzly here today - perfect Edward weather! hahahaha...
The books are definitely interrupting my DL excitment. Good grief I'm a nerd...

I paced myself for a few weeks on Breaking Dawn lol Everytime a happy point would come I would stop reading for a few days so I could be happy and bide my time with the Cullens. LOL

I would probably have put The Host down if it had not been for reyasmommy telling me to stick with it and I am so glad I did. DH liked it too!

Thank you for joining in! I can't wait to see your pics from your tour. And, if you like I'd be happy to help or what not!

Today is a beautiful sunny day (crisp and cool though!) and we're going for a bike ride as soon as I get off these DARN DIS BOARDS! ::disrocks::

Oh My.. were we seperated at birth?? Same thing with The Host and Midnight Sun.. exactly. :lmao:

It's so weird how this has affected so many people the same. Maybe it's not uncommon and just a first for me but I think it's pretty remarkable to get so many people on the same "page" for any reason.

I saw so many "get togethers" planned re: Twilight. It's really great to have such a big momentum going on. It makes me sort of pine for what we are really capable of as women.. in terms of organizing and just having a sisterhood. Ya know? :scratchin:

My pleasure! Thank you for your comments and encouragement. I really appreciate it!

I do not like Beauty and the Beast ::duck::

To me it says to young girls, "If you meet a mean, grumpy, beasty man and YOU love him GOOD ENOUGH he'll change."

Blech. Not so much.

I know... I know.... ::duck::

Hi! Thank you!!!

Yes! I would love some help. Such as addresses. lol. What was the name of the town with the high school where the movie was filmed? I just printed some maps... I'm so excited! We'll need a full day to drive there and a full day to drive back. How long will we need for actual touring?

The high school is in Kalama, WA and the "downtown" area is 1st in St Helens, OR and Bella's house is on 6th St in St Helens, OR. You can google all areas quite easily.

The police station which, for some odd reason, was where they asked Dr. Cullen to examine the body, (odd) was filmed in Vernonia, OR. Vernonia is near to St Helen's and Kalama... those three places could be grouped together, I think. I haven't been to Vernonia as my DH doesn't like the town (he got an unwarranted traffic ticket and revolts against visiting.)

DH and I saw all of downtown and the high school in one day. I think you could easily get to Vernonia on that one day time.

The Carver Cafe is sort of on the same mountain as the Viewpoint Inn. All are up near-ish to Multnomah Falls and those places would need a seperate day, depending on what you wanted to do. That area has some beautiful sight seeing/hiking, etc. You could have fun with that.

Where they sit together and look out over the water is on the WA side of the Columbia River.. I think they named "Cape Horn Loop" but I haven't been there YET, either. :teeth:

Now the real Forks is about 5 hours from here. I have never been there but it seems pretty self explanatory. Allegedly (From what I see in pics) the Welcome area or Chamber of Commerce will give you a walking map. Sounds like fun! :)
