Hello all!
I am off to the magic in two days time and I thought it was probably about time I joined you all in the making of a PTR!!
I used to visit DLP a lot when I was but an ickle-child with my parents (I'm an only-child so Mum soon learned to embrace the rollercoasters with me so that I never had to ride alone
). Once the teenage years started, Disney was no longer a choice of holiday for us as a family (BOO!!!) ~ not that it stopped me visiting with friends ~ and so here we are, well and truely over a decade since the three of us last visited together, embarking on our 5 day Disneyland Paris holiday!
Cast:-
Me:- Adam, 23 years old - a little obsessed with all things Disney!
Mum & Dad:- Jackie, 54 years old (ride thrill-seeker). Terry, to turn 56 whilst in Disney (thinks he is brave if he gets on the Disney Railroad, let alone anything else)! They're not really Disney-mad, but enjoyed the time they used to spend in DLP. (Mum is a little excited about sampling the cocktails each evening
)
Dates:-
Monday 14th March 2011 until Friday 18th March 2011. Staying in the Disneyland Hotel.
Why the family trip after so long?:-
I won't bore you with too many details, but we've had a lot of upset and worry during the recent years as my Mum was diagnosed with cancer. The worst day of my life was the day I flew back from the States with my best friend and mum sat me down, looked me in the eye and told me that she is unwell and that the hospital is unable to tell her whether she is going to live or die.
Fast-forward a little, they caught the cancer just in time (apparently two weeks later and this would have been an unimaginable nightmare for us) and mum has been undergoing treatment since...
As it is my Dad's birthday on 17th March (St. Patrick's Day), this year I decided that I wanted to treat my parents to a break away from everything and the first thing that sprung into my mind was Disneyland Paris!!
I just want to be able to go back all them years when we had such beautiful memories together as a family within the resort and give us all a fabulous trip!
My parents think we're all staying at Sequoia Lodge... little do they know I have a big surprise for them when we arrive and I tell them that we will actually be staying the Disneyland Hotel (which has been Mum's dream to stay there one day)!!

The plan:-
Monday 14th March - We live in London so in the morning we will make our way to King's Cross St. Pancras (hopefully via Starbucks) and await the Eurostar. Once on the Eurostar I plan to surprise my parents with the big reveal (before the Disney Express Cast Members walk along, give us our passes and beat me to it). Arrive - drop off our cases. Head into the Disney Park and beeline for Phantom Manor (we used to make POTC the first ride of our trip but as it's under refurb, Phantom Manor will be the one
). Explore the park, hit some rides and get back to check-in.
Dinner - Inventions, 7pm. Afterwards - Café Fantasia for cocktails of course
Tuesday 15th March - Disney Studios. My parents have never seen this park yet so we will have a bit of a leisurely day in the Studios, watch the Stunt Show, Cinémagique, Animagique, Stitch Live!, - Mum and I will hit the big rides.
Lunch - Unplanned. Possibly Blockbuster, Rendezvous or Annettes...
Dinner - Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, 9:30pm.
Wednesday 16th March - Start in Salon Mickey. Then flutter between the two parks, taking in some of the sights and doing some rides we can all enjoy together (basically, nothing that moves faster than 10mph for Dad to "brave"
).
Lunch - Walt's, 1pm
Dinner - Café Mickey, 7pm - I have pre-booked a Birthday cake here for Dad
Afterwards - cocktails.
Thursday 17th March - Dad's birthday / St. Patrick's Day
. Today I will take a backseat (as much as I possibly can anyway
) and allow Dad to control where we go and what we see. I have a feeling we will start in Salon Mickey and then spend the day in the main park - watch a lot of the St. Patrick's Day shows/parades/events. Definately cannot miss the evening fireworks.
Lunch - Unplanned; possibly Agrabah
Dinner - Unplanned; I'm attempting to steer us to Californian Grill
or Annettes . Afterwards - cocktails.
Friday 18th March - Our day of departure! BOO!!!
- Have a lazy day, finish off seeing things we want to do within the two parks. A Salon Mickey start to the day and then plenty of shopping, photos, re-capping etc.
Lunch - Unplanned; hoping to get to Walt's again...
Get the Eurostar home at 7:37pm - cry the entire way back!
I have already promised Mum that our evenings will be spent with cocktails throughout the different hotels... and what sort of a person would I be if I were to deny us this?!
I hope I haven't rambled too much... Is it Monday yet?!
