The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Hi Amy

Glad to see the lower leg pain has gone away & good job with all of the workouts last week!

Guess this week starts the uphill climb of training, the repeated addition of miles for those long ones....hope you stay injury free and that the next two months are successful for you. If anyone can stay smart and consistent during a training program, it's you...I have full confidence that you'll get to those starting lines in top form.

Happy Halloween!

Hi Amy,
Glad to hear you are back on track. And Hmm... You are asking me if I take a day off??? That is funny coming from someone who does as much as you do ;)
But yes I do.

Have a good week
Linda

Hey AMy,

I am so happy to hear that your leg is feeling better. Great job on the runs. You do amaze me. Have a good week.

Happy Halloween,
Beth

Hey there Amy!! I am so glad to hear the leg pain has gone away. That is AWESOME!! You are doing so great with your training, you are going to ROCK the Goofy in Jan!!

Good Luck with your 10 miler this weekend!

Hi Amy,

I hope the leg is still strong for your long run tomorrow. Have an awesome weekend.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Amy!

Good luck on the double digit run tomorrow!! Gonna be cold, so you may want to bring that portable heater with you ;)

You've done so awesome so far with the training...you are gonna show Goofy who is boss!! Maybe KBX ol' Goof into submission if you will. Pilates breath and WHAMO....right down to the canvas goes Goofy. :goodvibes:

Keep up the great work buddy

little pent-up animosity towards the goof? :confused3

I'm so glad you're felling better, Amy. Honestly, I don't know how you do all you do. Take care, and enjoy the LR tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone....THANK YOU for all the well-wishes everyone! Leg pain has been on and off for a few weeks. I suppose it's just the lack of an official rest day. I used to get Mondays off but now I'm teaching 3 classes on Mondays...one of which is a Kickboxing class so my legs haven't rested. The good news is that I've switched that evening class to Tuesday night so that should alleviate the leg aches! :thumbsup2 Aside from that the colder weather has flared up the hip pains that I've been dealing with for a few years. They come and go...but I think the colder temps make them worse. Anyway...enough about the aches and pains of training. I really can't complain as it seems that overall I'm feeling really good.

Tomorrow is a 10 miler. I did my 5 today..a combo of run/walk. The rest of the week has been successful with two 5 mile weekday runs. One of which I ran at a 9:22 pace!!! That's a nice increase in speed for me. So sometimes I feel a little speedier :). Usually I feel like a :snail:.

Scott....awww...I like :goofy: too much to KBX him to the ground LOL!

I'll post my weekly review tomorrow after my *hopefully* successful run :)

Hey Amy--I hope the 10 miler went well today!! It was beautiful weather for running this morning!! Trail seemed kind of quiet this morning, a lot of people must have been running in NYC!!

Hey Amy,

I hear you about the colder temps making the joints ache. Hopefully, todays run was enjoyable. It is good to hear that the kickboxing class is now on Tuesday. I worry about you never resting your body. Then again, worrying is part of my nature. Congrats on the 9:22 pace. You are amazing.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Amy!!! Wow woman, you are busy! Kickboxing now!!! Geez!!! Good lord! Glad to hear your week as been ok--aside from the week's aches and pains! Hope that today's long-run went well! I'll be waiting for an update!!!

Best,
Stacie

Hi Amy,
I hope you did well on your run. The weather has been great here in the NE, it just made you have to go out and do something.

Have a great week,
Linda

Hello WISH peeps

Just because I always do it....I'll post my updates. I'm sure it's boring LOL! But hey...I like to try to keep track of the things that I do right and wrong...so here are the reviews:

Monthly Review October
Miles Ran: 71
XT Sessions: 28
Overall Time Exercised: Over 38 Hours
My Average MPM dropped by 24 seconds since September!!! :)

Weekly Review
Miles Ran (including Saturday Run/Walk): 25
Pilates: 180 minutes
Cardio XT: 60 minutes
Classes Taught: 6

So last week was pretty successful...I had an excellent run on Thursday. Did my 5 Miler with a 9:22 mpm. I really aspire to faster times but had pretty much given up hope on cracking 10 mpm for the foreseeable future. Fortunately it seems that I've sped up a little. We'll see if this lasts ;).

My 10 mile long run went great yesterday. One of the best in recent memory! I finished in 1:37:45 for a 9:46 avg mpm :). Splits were pretty decent and even pulled a pretty substantial negative split in mile 8!!!
9:31/9:55/10:09/9:34/9:57/9:32/9:59/9:22/9:58/9:43

Now...to many runners this isn't any great feat LOL. BUT...for me....:snail: this was pretty awesome. Not sure if I can keep that up over the long haul but we'll see what happens in the coming weeks. I'm feeling pretty good today. The only issues I had this weekend were mental...just worried that I'm not putting up the big numbers and won't be prepared for :goofy:. And of course Ryan Shay's death really shocked and saddened me :(.

I hope everyone is doing well. My week ahead looks something like this...

Monday: Teach two pilates classes
Tuesday: Teach two pilates classes, Run 6 Miles
Wednesday: XT Elliptical, Teach a Pilates class, Yoga?
Thursday: Run 5 Miles, Teach a Pilates class
Friday: 60 Pilates, XT Elliptical/Ski Machine
Saturday: Teach a Pilates Class, Walk/Run 6 Miles
Sunday: Long Run = 12 Miles

:sunny:

Whaddup Ayme  ;)

Incredible, incredible job the last few months shaving down that average pace per minute stat. And to think that here you are on November 5th...just 70 or so days away from Goofy '08...running a great long run and staying injury free (*knocks on wood*) What a refreshing change over where things were last year :)

Have some confidence in your plan  We based it on Bingham's marathon training and that's nothing to feel insecure about. A lot of this is new territory for you too...last year it was all about just surviving every run (heck, surviving just getting out of bed)...and this year you are very focused on a successful marathon. I'm no expert, but I feel VERY confident that you are doing what it takes to have a great experience come race time.

And yes, Ryan's death was very shocking and tragic...makes you take a minute and wonder just how dangerous marathon running is. But, there was a definite medical history there...and the stats show it's still WAY more risky driving/traveling to the races than actually running them. Exercise is still the best thing you can do for your body :)

Besides...you can't croak during the race...I'll have no one to laugh at those Sharpie signs with if you aren't there. :rotfl: How DO deer know to cross at those signs? :rotfl:

I'm proud of you for what you've accomplished and where you are at today...good job buddy :goodvibes:

Have a GREAT week! (Go TK!)

GREAT JOB AMY!!!!! :cool1:

You are absolutely ASTOUNDING! Those miles for October...Gee whiz! It's just amazing to look at you and some others here doing what you're doing--running those long runs and those "short" runs during the week and to see how successful you are. It just amazes me when I can barely run 5 min to see you running 5 miles a few times a week then 10 miles on the weekend.

You are doing so good! You've been listening to your body, staying injury free... You should feel so good about what you have accomplished! I'm so proud of you!

Keep it up!
Stacie

Amy - just checking in with ya! You are seriously kicking some butt! You must be getting pumped for the Goofy!!

Amy,

You are such an inspiration to me. Your workout/ training schedule is absolutely amazing! :thumbsup2 The Goofy is yours!:goofy:

Hope you have a great week!
