Poncho? Check. Leg warmers? Check. Tank top? Check. Platform shoes? Oh yeah, baby! Culottes? Check. Well, I was a child of the 70s...

These weren't my worst fashion faux pas, though. What about hot pants with white PVC elastic topped boots? Full Bay City Rollers kit. My school uniform - trousers 45 inches at the hem, 3 button waistband and patch pockets on the sides, nylon check blouse with puff sleeves, 3 button cuffs and pear drop collar, hand-knitted jumper with 12 inch ribbing and platform sandals. :rotfl: Black shirt with fuschia footless tights (and nothing else :scared1: ). Olivia Newton-John stylie lycra pants and off-the-shoulder number with clear plastic stilleto mules. Floor length full skirt and Clarks' Polyveldts (what can I say, I was a Northern Soulie - back flips a speciality). Stayprest polyester trousers with "stirrups", white pointed kitten-heel stilletoes and a parka (what can I say, I was a mod revivalist). Pleated full velour trousers laced at the ankle with flat patent Mary-Janes and white blouson shirt with huge sleeves and front frill (what can I say, I was a New Romantic - but, in my defence, before it became "mainsteam" :rotfl: ).

I think I may have revealed too much :rolleyes1 .

OOOOHHH!
I think I went out with you Debs!
You didn't become an Air Stewardess did you? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am guilt free on all accounts - suave and sophisticated all the way with me!!:thumbsup2

Not quite telling the truth there, are we Matt old boy?

I had an pair of enormous 6 inch high platform shoes. They put Gary Glitter to shame (as if he needed any more shame) and made me a risk to low flying aircraft.
I rather suspect some poor teenager today will look back in 20 years time and cringe at the fact that the gusset of their trousers hung below their kness and their underpants were displayed for all and sundry to laugh at.

Thanks for that, laughing that hard whilst violently coughing is a good way of shredding your throat!

I believe from photographs that I was once placed in shellsuits and legwarmers, however as I was around 2 years old at the time I didn't have much say in the matter! :lmao:

Ha Ha! Loving this!

I had JADE Ellesse shell suit, BURGUNDY fred perry tank top as 5th year 1984/85 school uniform, and did the leg warmer over jeans thing!! They don't make colours like the 80's anymore! Why can't I find those jade and fuschia colours anywhere!!!

UKDEB: your post sounds like you just described everyone in my school year!! Anyone else lay flat on the bed to get their zip up on their stretch skin tight jeans??

And don't even go to big hair and shouler pads!!!

OMG! Hon we had the same wardrobe.!!

I will never forget my high waisted, trip you over flares from Chelsea Girl, my footless tights worn with a dress(seems to have made a comeback) but with long beads that you wore diagionally across your body. My tartan bay city rollers trousers and matching scarve. Then onto my tight black satin trousers with my one shoulder tops, and my OMD days of white front frill blouses with trousers and/or skirt with braces, huge Farrah Fawcett hair with a scarf round my head to coordinate. I really will have to dig out some old photos, Im sure I have some here I can scan. Oh I nearly forgot my dallas style padded shoulder jackets and suits:rotfl: :rotfl:

Poncho Doh! My Granny made me one... I wore it... Lol Backa couple of years ago when they are "fashionable" :rotfl:

Braces are cool!!! Haha! I had the best ones when I was little, I think they look really good on some people!

Leg Warmers, well, I had some bright pink ones.

tank top.. are they really that bad?

RaRa Skirts!! Loved them! :D...

Culottes.. Brownies Uniform! Niiice shade of brown..

I had braces and a Ra-ra skirt ~ Not a pretty combination:rotfl:

BUT, in my defence I never owned said poncho, and I only wore it to make my fellow travellers happy!

I am guilty of leg warmers, braces and ra-ra skirts....sometimes, all at the same time :rotfl:

Sue mentioned Chelsea Girl, I loved Chelsea Girl, many of my fashion disasters came from there. I can remember going out on Friday nights head to toe in black, black skull boots, and so much white powder on my face I may as well have worn flour, black eyeliner and bright red lipstick completed the look. Fancied myself as a bit of a goth, I can't remember the name of the hairspray it was in a pink can, I would use nearly a can to go out !!

This thread is so funny !!

I loved Chelsea Girl :goodvibes I had a short green denim jacket from there that I wore to death, along with some yellow pedal pushers that my mum said weren't suitable for school :sad2:

I wore clogs at secondary school, mind you these were the real dutch wooden shoes, I spray painted them silver :)

They keep your feet lovely and warm in the winter!

Poncho's when I was about 6! Braces and Tank tops in the - dress like a man period, tight jeans, second hand shirt, braces, tie, jacket and patent dancing shoes nicked from my dad!

How can I have forgotten that key part of the look?! I'm struggling to remember what shoes we wore with this get-up.

pixie boots? I looooved my pixie boots!

What about hot pants with white PVC elastic topped boots? Stayprest polyester trousers with "stirrups"

Guilty of these too, I'm afraid !! My hotpants were navy and my Mum made them for me. And the boots came over my knees (but I was size 10 then)
