The Fantasy's First MNSSH Cruise: Zombies of the Caribbean October 27, 2012

On the Dream, we were seated at a table for eight with a range of other couples - a younger married couple without kids, an older married couple traveling without their kids, and a mom and her daughter celebrating the daughter's high school graduation. It was a great table - we had so much fun, and keep in touch with four of the six people we were seated with.

I'd be really disappointed if we ended up at a table by ourselves - as much as I enjoy my husband's company, part of the fun of that cruise was mealtime with our fun tablemates!

My husband and I wanted to go scuba diving in Cozumel, do you think we would have time to go do a double dive, come back to the ship, take the kids and go back to the beach? Maybe we could rent those small motorcycles? I think the nice beaches are a little further away from the port that's why I don't know if we would have time to do that. My kids usually don't really like going to kids clubs, so we wouldn't want to leave them all day. :)

Any good ideas? I think there is a nice quiet stretch of beach not too far from the port. Is it a doable walk?
Important key word here is : Quiet... :)

Is there a quieter stretch of beach on Castaway Cay (I guess if someone mentions it now, it will no longer be quiet...), all I remember from the island is thousands of people and having a hard time finding a chair (and I'm not willing to pay 500$ for a cabana, which are really cute, but still).

Last thing... I just can't wait for this cruise!!!

On our last cruise we changed our dining rotation when we got on board and were asked if we wanted a table to ourselves. We took the table by ourselves it was our first cruise. The tables were very close together and it seemed that most were tables to themselves on the Dream.

Can you change your dining rotation once you get on board? I was wondering if I should request a dining rotation? My only concern is that I don't want to be in Animator's Palate on our first night. That is such an exciting restaurant & I don't want to miss anything.

On our last cruise we sat down on our first night & my youngest son looked at me & said "I think I am going to throw up" :scared1: I looked around & was freaked out about what to do. I was just looking at the cloth napkins & the fancy glass glasses & looking for something to give him. All ended well though. I went RUNNING back to our stateroom for the Dramamine which knocked him out on the spot. He never did get sick & got used to the motion so that he was fine for the rest of the cruise. This time I am going to give him the Dramamine the night before our cruise just to be sure, but I just don't want to miss anything with my boys getting used to the motion of the ship on our first night.

So.... should I micromanage things & ask my TA to put in a request that we are not in Animator's Palate on our first night or should I just see what we get & then maybe I can request a change in rotation when we board? Maybe I am stressing out about nothing & my son will be fine this time.

Can I suggest Bonine? It is dramamine but non drowsy and works like a dream! Start taking it a couple of days before the cruise and take the same time of day to keep in your system :-)

As for dining rotation - I was thinking the same thing about requesting but I think I will just leave it up to chance....

It was no problem to do onboard. We did wait about 15-20 minutes. I had book Remy and it fell on our Animators Palate night and I didn't want to change the Remy night. We ended up not eating at Remy's so it really didn't matter;).

I am debating about making a request for a particular rotation I would rather eat at Animators only twice and not 3 times, but I may just wait and see what I get and change then.

We went to the far end of the family beach when we were there, it wasn't busy.

maddiesmum03 and 3cheers4dis had posted about a private beach at Costa Maya Maya Chan. It includes food and drinks and has activities for kids. I think it was $105US for the 3 of us 40 per adult and 25 for kids.

http://www.costamayabeachresort.com/ PM me or maddiesmum03 for more info, since you can now;)

Is Bonine something that I can get over the counter or do I need a prescription for it? Also does is come in a liquid or a chewable as my son, age 6, won't be able to swallow pills. Thanks for this great information!

Thanks gilsan for your advice too on the dining rotation thing. So... Do you eat at your first night restaurant 3 times during the cruise? That may not be so bad so that if someone in the family is under the weather the first night we still have 2 more tries at that restaurant. I think that I will leave my dining rotation up to chance & then try to change if I don't like it.

These are the dining rotations I have seen posted ERAERRA, AERAEER, and RAERAAE. So it looks like it is the second night that is the 3 time dining experience. Enchanted Garden was my favourite on the Dream so I wouldn't mind the second rotation listed.

It's a little pink chewable...I got mine at Wal-Mart. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bonine-Tr...berry-Prevents-Motion-Sickness-16-ct/10316453

Sisley,

You will definitely have time for a 2 tank dive, the Mexicans don't mess about when it comes to diving.Safety and speed at the same time :thumbsup2

Cheers

Iain.

Thanks Iain for responding! But will we have time to go diving, come back to pick up the kids and find a NICE beach somewhere just to relax. And does the scuba excursion leave directly from the port? Or do we have to take a minivan or something? Have you ever done that excursion?

Sisley,

You will have to take a taxi/minivan to scuba dive, there is no diving around the port area, but shore diving is available 10 - 15 mins away. I always dive independently, and have only dived in (Cozumel) at Chankanaab.

Regards

Iain.

How do you keep up with these threads? Do you receive email responses?

At the top of the thread is a tab that says thread tools. You can subscribe to the thread from there. When you subscribe you can choose to receive email updates once a day, each time there is a post, or none.

I am subscribed for each post. The thread isn't that busy so it doesn't fill my inbox, also since I started the thread I wanted to keep on top of the posts. Other threads I just receive a daily email that includes the days posts, I like it because you can quickly scan the thread and keep up with news.

I'm trying to get to 10 so will ask...what is the deal with Lanyards?

We are planning on making up lanyards for our group so we can easily spot people from the thread. It will be a nice way to put faces to the names of the people we have been planning the cruise with:goodvibes
