Forgot to say in my past 2 days reports that after the initial rain on the day we got there it was GORGEOUS every day, low to mid 80's and sunny and beautiful....thank you God!!
OK, so this morning was our first attempt at an Early Entry. We got up, got ready and headed on the bus to MGM. We had read so much here about the EE days and thought "Ok, what do we really want to do first and we'll go right to it". The concensus was Tower of Terror (let me give you a hint....bad choice...but I'll save that for further on). So, we get there we walk up to TOT and there is not much of a wait. We get to the part where you are in the hotel "lobby" and the children's faces start to change a bit (should have been a hint of what was to come, but nah, we were all to anxious thinking about getting on this ride we read so much about!). So, we get to where we are about to go in the "library" and my oldest son (10) goes pale and says "I changed my mind, I don't want to go on it". We said, "huh?", well let's just try it, come on, it'll be OK, "would mommy and daddy let you go on something that would hurt you?". The bellhop tries to explain to him that the "scariness" is all in the fun, but is all pretend. He agrees to get in the "library". OK, so I think we've convinced him, (mind you the 7 year old was teasing him that he was "scared"....the irony gets good later on). So, we're in the library, packed in, the doors shut, it goes dark and on comes the TV, well, let's just say that was the beginning of the end right there. The movie ends, we step off the library to go into an "elevator" and now our 10 and 7 year old (normally not "fraidy cat" type kids) are totally melting down, the 7 year old is crying so hard I think he'll pass out (so much for calling the brother scared
). We are approached by cast member who directs us to the side to wait for an "escort" out the back exit (presumably this is an anticipated last minute jitters exit). So, we finally get led out of TOT and see it is now 8:45 and pretty much got nothing accomplished for the EE. Our kids are still crying and trying to say "we're sorry, we didn't know we would be scared". We calmly tell them, it is fine, it was a lesson learned that they don't like those kinds of rides, etc. My youngest is too short for Rock-n-Roller Coaster (and given the TOT experience) decide to not grab a Fast Pass for it and head to the other side where our day happily turned around while we enjoyed Star Tours, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (this was cool), had lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe (this was great) and headed back (it was hot this day) to the hotel for swimming and relaxing. This night was our only night with no reservations and plans. We were back and forth about making plans or hanging in for one night. We opted for the latter, ate at the Sassagoula Food Court (with our handy refillable mugs....totally worth it) and listened to the Disney Bedtime Stories and went to bed nice and early.
