Today was our 11th wedding anniversary!! So nice to spend it in Disney.
We started the day with the EE at Animal Kingdom. This place is great. We headed right to the Safari, and got right on a ride. This was breathtaking. I took an entire roll of film just during the Safari.
After the Safari, we did the walking trails to see more animals. This was thrilling, to have Tigers and such right there through the plexi-glass was amazing. I got some incredible shots of the animals. My oldest son has been studying birds in his class so he was thrilled the "bird guides" they give you on the tour. Then we walked over to Dinoland. This was more "carnival-ish" than I pictured but still nice. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go on Primeval Whirl because my youngest was about 1/4 of an inch shy!! It was hot and there were other things to do with the Fast Pass (if we got one then we couldn't use for something right after for the 4 of us so we opted out of the ride). We headed to Donald's Dinosaurus something or other and paid more than I care to admit for McDonald's
but, hey, it was Disney after all!! The AC and cold drinks were worth it alone! Then we headed over to Kali River Rapids and absolutely LOVED this ride. When we got off, we got Fast Passes and then headed over to "It's Tough To Be A Bug", again my 10 year old took off his glasses, he definitely doesn't like these 3D things. I have to say, it was kind of scary, there were quite a few kids having total meltdowns, screaming hysterical and crying by the end!! Then we headed to "Flights of Wonder" which was amazing, to see a Bald Eagle was great. My oldest again enjoyed this because he has a great interest in birds. Then we used our Fast Passes for Kali River Rapids (just me and the boys, my husband isn't fond of "wet" rides). We loved it so much, we got off and got right back in line for a 3rd time!! Then we finally headed home around 3:30, phew, this was going to be a quick shower and heading back out as we had anniversary reservations at California Grille for 6:00 ... yikes!!
When we headed back to the POFQ, we were so tired (having been at AK from 8-3:30) that we called Disney Dining to see if it was at all possible to push our reservations back until 8:00 so we could rest a bit before showering and heading back out. They only had a 9:30 which we thought was too late for the boys so they suggested Artist Point at WL for 7:45. We said great! At that point, we just knew we couldn't make CG for 6:00. Artist Point was great, beautiful. We all had a fabulous meal and boy is WL beautiful! They brought us a "complentary dessert" (some homemade blueberry/rasberry concoction with ice cream that was out of this world!!). The boys LOVED the Mickey White Chocolate Puzzle for dessert that came with colored icing in the shape of Mickey on a "artist palate" with a paint brush to paint the chocolate puzzle once you put it together and then finally eat it (and the paintbrush was in a homemade cookie....this was so cool). Our little one fell asleep during dessert so my poor husband had to carry him all the way to the bus and then to the room. We were pooped
