I went a couple weeks ago and was shocked to see some man doing a woman's work. lol. He didn't seem to enjoy his job at all and didn't make me want to send my kids up to play(if I had brought them. lol)

Anyway, it had been a year and a half since we were last there and didn't know she was gone. We loved her(her name has slipped my mind though). Is she gone for good?

We were there in February and July and both times she was there. Maybe it was her day off :confused3

We ate there for the first time in July and it was a man. I was actually surprised to see a woman when we were there last month! They must alternate or, if the woman is there more often, maybe the man is just a fill-in. :confused3

Hi
They are talking about a lady at Ohanna's who does animation there at dinner time she sings , dances around with the kids around the restaurant , wishes happy birthday / happy anniversary at those celabrating ..her name escapes me but she is very nice and does a great job at entertainement there .
Hope this helped !

She's been there so long she's like family. Well, I guess she is "Cousin":earsboy:

We prefer the guy, but always seem to get the woman! The first time we had him, and the last 3 times it's been her. We were wondering if he was still around- guess we just go the wrong nights!

If my memory still works, her name is Lipoa. (Hope I spelled it correctly.) She's a genuine sweetheart.

We saw her 2 weeks ago at Ohana for dinner.:thumbsup2 She's a real hoot! During our meal, she was making rounds and chatting it up with different tables. When she got to ours, she started squealing with excitement because my DH's hawaiian shirt had an outline of the island she grew up on. It was hilarious because she made him stand up and started stroking his chest where the island was! My DH was beet red and I nearly choked on my food, she was soooo funny! I find her more personable than the older man who switches off with her. I think she really likes her job a lot and it shows (not that the other man doesn't). We look forward to seeing her again when we return to Ohana!:goodvibes

She was there on the Sat. evening we were dining at 'Ohana.

I saw her a few weeks ago as well, great show. She was there in May as well. I guess she needs an off night every once in awhile;)

OK thanks! :thumbsup2 I think the two times we have eaten there we have had each of them.

To each his own--but I do know we're not alone in our opinion! I have read many reviews over the years about the woman grating on people's nerves. I am sorry to be so negative--but IMO her voice and the volume on her microphone were a complete turn-off. We had the guy last year and enjoyed him sooo very much more!

I agree. I find that the man gives a better Hawaiianish experience. He portrays a more relaxed island atmosphere. His vocals, imo, is more authentic. And most importantly, he is more comfortable and natural in his performance. My whole family misses him. We thought he is no longer there. The last time we saw him was 2 years ago. We have had the woman ever since (the last vacation would be the 8th time she was there during our meal :guilty:).

But, glad to hear that he's still performing, hopefully on our next vacation, we'll see him at least once. :thumbsup2

As you've been told, the lady is Lipoa, and her nights off are Sunday and Monday, so you would definately not see her those evenings.:headache:

I have never seen the man, but she speaks well of him!...As for Lipoa, her kindness is genuine!....Perhaps the cynical do not believe it, or find it irritating, but she is an excellent representative of the warmth of her culture:goodvibes, and is especially loving to children who are the chosen dreamers of Disney!

Before our last visit, I had emailed her to say we were coming to celebrate my husband's birthday, and she could not have done more to make him feel welcome and special!:cheer2:

If interaction is not your thing, that's fine!....You can go to Kona for great food, and leave the coveted O'hana ressies for those who are open to the diversity within cultures.

I love Lipoa! She was there on Oct 23 when we ate at Ohana. A few years ago I was by chance , standing by her while I was waiting on someone and she struck up a conversation with me, she is genuinely nice, not just "Disney" nice. :)

Did I miss something? Cynical people not "believing", people "not open to diversity"? Wow! Just wow!!!:confused3

I believe the OP didn't like the guy's version of doing the MC job at 'Ohana and a couple of us wanted to put in a vote for the guy instead of the lady. But I guess we're not open to diversity or maybe we are not the chosen dreamers of Disney??:scared1:
