The Fairy Godmother's Escape Wedding at Sunset Point 2/22/12 - 5/28 TR cake page 7

Real Life is really getting in the way of my trip report. I am on day 2 of working 12 days in a row and I worked 11 hours today on 5 1/2 hours sleep and I will probably have to work 11 hours again tomorrow. Plus it is still 7 weeks before I will see my DH again. We have gone longer with out seeing each other but this stretch has been really hard on me. I am sorry for being so whiny. Here is part of day 3. Hopefully I will have the rest of day 3 posted tomorrow night.

Sunday February 19th
I woke up sometime around 8:00. Stanley (DF) and the boys were crashed out. Who knows what time they went to bed. I showered and dressed and took my kindle to one of the tables by the beach to wait for my Florida relatives (my aunt and uncle, cousins and spouses and their babies). They live and Tampa and Englewood and decided to come over for a quick visit since I hadn’t seen them in about 3 years. I apologize in advance because I don’t have pictures because we used my cousin’s camera. It was a very nice visit.
They decided they were hungry and I realized it was almost 11:30 and I was supposed to have brought Stanley breakfast at 11:00. Oops I am going to be a bad wife. My family decided to eat at Gasparilla Grill and I went to wake up Stanley and the boys. We were suppose to have lunch at 1:30 at The 50’s Prime Time Café but that wasn’t going to work because Stanley and the boys were starving and if they ate now they weren’t going to be hungry at 1:30. So I cancelled another ADR and made another one for lunch on Tuesday (this one almost had to be cancelled too but more about that later) and we all went to Gasparilla Grill. After lunch we let the boys go to the Magic Kingdom by themselves while Stanley and I spent a little more time with my family. They left around 1:00 because it was time for the baby cousins naps. DF and I hung out for a little bit since we hadn’t seen each other since Christmas. The boys came back from the Magic Kingdom and then it was off to Epcot for dinner at the San Angel Inn in Mexico.
We rode Spaceship Earth as soon as we got to Epcot. It is Alex’s favorite ride in Epcot. Tyler can take it or leave but will ride it for his brother. After riding we had a little time to kill before dinner so DF and the boys went to get some Beverly and I made my daily call to Alfred Angelo. Still no tracking number on the dress and the even better news that the Orlando store had no one that could do my alterations but they would give me names of people I could call that might be able to do them in 24 hours. Once again I was in disbelief when I got off of the phone because every time I thought the dress situation couldn’t get any worse they managed to find new and creative ways to make it worse.
I will continue the dress drama in another post. Hopefully tomorrow.

Sunday February 19th Part 2
So after getting the wonderful news that Alfred Angelo wasn’t going to alter my dress if it ever showed up, DF tried to calm me down and give me the lecture about how we should have just gone to a justice of the peace to get married. This did not really improve my mood. As a side note I absolutely refused to be married in a courthouse by a justice of peace because that is what DF had done for his first marriage. A margarita at San Angel Inn however did improve my mood slightly as did the dinner. We have eaten there twice and both times we have had good food plus we enjoy the atmosphere. Once again I apologies because in my dress crazed state of mind I didn’t even think about taking pictures.
After dinner we went back to the GF for a short break and then headed over to the MK because it was EMH and my family thinks there is nothing better than being able to stay at MK until 3:00 AM. Walking towards bag check I was frantically going through my backpack looking for our annual passes which I couldn’t find anywhere. I was almost in tears and DF was looking at me like who are you and what have you done with my fiancé. I handed DF my backpack and headed to the boat launch to try to catch the waiting boat back to the GF so I could search the room for our passes. Just as I was getting ready to step on the boat DF called because they had found the passes in my backpack so crisis adverted.
We went to Mickey’s Phiharmagic first because that is DF favorite ride to do after dinner. We then rode the Haunted Mansion and Alex was able to find the hidden Mickey on the dining room table in the ballroom scene. After the HM we got caught by the parade in Frontierland . We are not a parade family and the only time we ever see it is when we get caught in it. After that we went to Pecos Bill’s and got a late night snack that really hit the spot. We then rode Splash Mountain and went to ride it again since there was no line but it broke down right before we could get back on. It was after midnight and we were all tired at this point so we decided to go back to the hotel. No 3:00 am in the MK for us tonight. Once back to the room I went straight to bed because I was emotionally and physically exhausted.

Monday February 20th 2 days before the wedding or the day I almost went over the edge
Once again today all my planning went out the window. Originally we were supposed to meet my friend Jill and her girlfriend Jeanette for lunch at Tepan Edo in Epcot. I had to cancel because I was going to Almonte Springs to pick up my wedding dress today. After getting up and having a late breakfast we sent the boys of to the Magic Kingdom by themselves again. I left to go pick up my dress. I didn’t call first because I didn’t want to hear any more bad news about my dress over the phone.
I got stuck in traffic so it seemed like it took forever to get to the Alfred Angelo store. When I arrived I found out that my dress was not arriving today. The manager had just received an email that my dress wasn’t coming today but tomorrow but she still didn’t have a tracking number. I almost started crying at that point. I did not want my wedding to be all about the dress but that was what it was turning in to. I went out to the car to think and come up with a plan. I went back into the store with the Cinderella Dress and asked if I could get one of the poufy skirt things (sorry I don’t know what they are called because I wasn’t planning on wearing one). I tried the dress on with the underskirt and my highest heels. The dress fit OK enough and between my heels and the poufy skirt I could get away without having alterations. The only problem was going to be the train and I was going to have to drag it around all day but by this point I didn’t care. So I left the store and on the drive back to WDW I got myself psyched up to wear the poufy princess dress. It may not have been the dress I wanted but I was going to rock the dress and not let it ruin my wedding.
On a side note I must say that I think the AA Cinderella dress is a gorgeous dress and if I was 25 and having a bigger wedding I probably would have been the dress that I wanted. At 42 I am a little past the princess stage and more in to the queen stage plus I am a big girl with really broad shoulders so strapless isn’t a very flattering look on me.
I made it back to WDW around 2 and about 2:30 my phone rang. It was the AA store manager calling to give me the tracking number for my dress. My dress had left Macau, China that morning had a layover in Anchorage, Alaska and was on its way to Louisville, Kentucky! At this point I was just a ball of emotions. I had spent the last 10 days dealing with getting my wedding dress and every day getting a different answer. I had just spent an hour getting myself psyched up to wear my back up dress and had sort of let go of my original dress when I find out once again that the dress I really wanted may still arrive in time. I really didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Plus I had heard so many times before that my dress was coming that I still didn’t have a lot of faith that it would make it in time. I also felt like I was being a baby by being so stressed out by the whole situation. The dress was not the important thing, what was important was that I was finally marrying my best friend. Anyway I tried to let go of all the dress stress but it still effected me through the wedding because I could see the stress in my face in some of the pictures.

Monday February 20th part 2
So while I am on the phone dealing with my dress, DF calls his mom and proceeds to get in a huge fight with her. His mom pays for both of his boys cell phones because she has them as extra lines on her plan. Before leaving for WDW, DSS Tyler got his phone taken away at school. I don’t know all the details of the story but DF believes it wasn’t Tyler’s fault so he purchased him a new phone since he needed to have a phone at WDW. MIL found out about it and decided to limit the times Tyler could text. This is all well and good except it would have been nice if she would have asked DF first and secondly Tyler was at the Magic Kingdom with his brother Alex who had left his phone in the room charging so we had no way of contacting the kids. All of this resulted in DF yelling at his mother on the phone and 15 minutes later we could text Tyler.
We told the boys to meet us at Spaceship Earth at Epcot because we were going to Canada for dinner. After meeting up we rode SE again and then headed over to Canada. We were really early so we went in saw the movie in Canada. The last time I saw the movie with boys was the first time we came to WDW all the way back in 2004. They were 6 and 9 at the time and I had to yell at them because they were climbing on the podium. Memories!
After the movie we went in checked in even though we were still early. Tyler totally rocked all the trivia questions and ended up with probably 40 Mickey stickers. Finally we were seated. Since we had TIW Stanley and the boys decided to be total pigettes and order appetizers and size in addition to their steaks. Of course their eyes were bigger than their stomachs and they couldn’t eat it all. Forgive me once again because I did not take pictures because my mind was completely consumed with my wedding dress. In fact it was so consumed with it that I tipped the waitress an extra $40 because I forgot that TIW includes an 18% tip so I tipped 20% on the total bill. I was so out of it I didn’t even realize what I had done until I went to pay for our lunch the next day.
We had planned on watching Illuminations but it was only 8:15 and the wind was blowing so it was a little chilly and we were all a little tired so we decided to go back to the room to relax. On the way back I called my friends Jill and Jeanette and they came to the GF to have a few drinks and visit with me before the big day.
Jill and I have been friends since we were 6. Somewhere I have a picture of us at my 7th birthday party (she has a fabulous afro in the picture, it was the seventies) so basically we go way back. It was good to see her, have a drink and cry on her shoulder about the whole dress drama. To soon midnight rolled around so they hopped on a boat to the MK so they could catch a bus to CBR.
It was off to bed for my. My BFF Dawn was arriving at 6:00 am and I planned to be in the lobby to meet her.

Tuesday February 21st Day 5 or the day before the wedding
I set my alarm for 5:30 am! My friend and Maid of Honor Dawn was arriving today. She had taken a red eye so I expected her to be at the GF between 6 and 6:30. After getting ready I went down to the lobby to check in for our room.
Stanley is very funny because sometimes he can be uber traditional. He didn’t want to see me until the ceremony so we were going to spend the night apart therefore I got a room for Dawn and myself, since Dawn was only going to be there for 2 nights.
Dawn is a CPA and as she often tells people my birthday (April 9th) is very inconvenient for her. I didn’t do any better with my wedding since the tax deadline for farmers was a week after my wedding. Because of work she was arriving the day before my wedding and leaving at 6:00 am the day after.
Luckily our room was ready when I checked in at 6:00am. Dawn arrived shortly after that and we went to check out our room. It had a great view of the castle.
I went back to my other room and got the supplies to make the favors for the guest. I thought they turned out cute. I totally stole the idea from another Dis bride but I can’t remember who it was.
AS00022-22-12.jpg

Starting at about 9 my phone started ringing off the hook with various wedding people calling me to confirm times for tomorrow. I was so consumed with the wedding dress that I had completely forgot to call any of them to give them my room number and confirm times for the big day. The manager from Alfred Angelo called about 9:30 to let me know my dress had arrived but I must have been getting another call at the same time because I didn’t see that I had a message until 10:30. Of course at that point I didn’t have enough time to go pick up the dress until later in the afternoon because we had an ADR for lunch at 50s Primetime Diner.
I left Dawn to take a nap and rounded up Stanley and the boys and headed to Hollywood Studios. It seemed super crowed! We waited 35 minutes to ride the Great Movie Ride which is one of Stanley’s favorites. After that it was time for lunch where we got one of our traditional photos.

009-1.jpg

We then went back to the GF. I left Stanley and the boys and got Dawn and we were off to get my wedding dress. It was strange leaving Stanley, knowing that the next time I would see him would be at the altar! Here is a picture of his expression when he first saw me.

AS07422-22-12.jpg

During are drive to Almonte Springs, Dawn was on the phone with Jill to coordinate my “bachorette party” at Downtown Disney. Unfortunately my friends Cheri and Gretchen were not going to be able to make it. Cheri had been flying all day and was exhausted and Gretchen and her family had gone to Legoland and weren’t going to be back in time.
Finally after what seemed like forever we arrived at the Alfred Angelo store. I seriously almost started crying when I saw the dress. I couldn’t believe it was actually here.

Thankfully it fit pretty well so I was able to get away without doing any alterations. It was too long so I had to wear my 4 inch heels instead of my flip flops and the big poufy underskirt which I hadn’t planned to wear. Also the bodice didn’t fit exactly right so in some pictures you could see my bra.

aa70e2ae.jpg

One more annoying comment about Alfred Angelo, while I was there picking up my dress their seamstress was there doing a fitting on some bridesmaid! I wanted to say thanks for being so accommodating but a bigger part of me wanted to take my dress and run far far away from that place.
We took the dress back to our room and got her settled in for the night and then we were off to DTD and Raglan Road for dinner.

012-1.jpg

It probably took us 20 minutes to find a parking space at DTD. The parking lot was packed. With all of my dress drama I had forgot it was Mardi Gras. We finally found a space way far away in the parking lot by the movie theaters. Then we had to fight our way through the crowd to Raglan Road. DTD was packed!
My friends decided that I needed to wear the crown that they had purchased for me in Norway.

AS01712-22-12.jpg

(Sorry I don't have a picture from that night)

We had a very nice meal at Raglan Road. The food was very good and the band and dancers were also good. The only problem was the band was extremely loud. So loud you couldn’t hear the person next to you talk. Thankfully the band stopped playing when our food was served so we could visit. After dinner we made our way over to the World of Disney because I had something very important to purchase, my wedding band!

After that Dawn and I dropped Jill and Jeanette off at CBR and then back to the GF. It was bedtime. I was getting married tomorrow in my wedding dress and I needed all the beauty sleep I could get.

It seemed super crowed! We waited 35 minutes to ride the Great Movie Ride which is one of Stanley’s favorites.

We then went back to the GF. I left Stanley and the boys and got Dawn and we were off to get my wedding dress. It was strange leaving Stanley, knowing that the next time I would see him would be at the altar! Here is a picture of his expression when he first saw me.

Wow! 35 minutes for GMR!! We're hardly ever that busy! Yikes!

And I ADORE that picture of your husband when he saw you!

I think the only time I have ever seen GMR busier was when I went with my grandparents in 1989. The line was long but it did move fast.

I think Stanley's expression is so cute but I don't remember it from the wedding. I didn't see it until I was looking through the pictures.

Wednesday February 22 Wedding Day!
I woke up before my alarm went off a little before 8. That was one of the best things about getting married in the afternoon was not having to get up at the crack of dawn to get ready.
I took a shower put on my getting ready clothes and then went and got myself a Mickey waffle for breakfast and then hung out until 11.
This is a picture of my getting ready outfit after my hair and makeup was finished.

At 11 Jackie from Beaute Speciale arrived (I think her name was Jackie many of the details of my wedding day are kind of a blur). She was super nice and did a really good job. She started with my hair first because it is super thick and there is a lot of it.
My friends started arriving around 12:30 and Randy arrived about 1:00 just as Jackie was finishing up my makeup.
Here is a picture of me with all of my friends except Gretchen who hadn't arrived yet.

AS00492-22-12.jpg

It was then time to put on the dress. Looking back I can't decide if the dress was worth all the trouble it caused but when I look at certain pictures I definitely think it was.

AS01912-22-12.jpg

I the sent Cheri off to escort Stanley and the boys to the limo. Cheri was the one I tagged along with to the party that I meant Stanley at all those years ago and I knew she would help calm him down.

Randy took a bunch of pictures of me in the room and then it was time to go to the limo.

Wedding Part 2 Getting Stanley to the ceremony

So I sent my friend Cheri to go with Stanley to the ceremony and keep him calm. He is much more sentimental and emotional about these kind of things then I am. In some of the pictures during the ceremony I have a weird look on my face because I am trying not to laugh because I can tell he is starting to tear up. I know I am a horrible bride. I actually told my friends before the ceremony that he would be the one crying not me which is part of the reason I wanted to laugh.

Here are Stanley and the boys getting into the limo

Wedding Day Part 3 The 3 Stans

We went down to the lobby and met my friend Gretchen and her daughter Isabell. We then went outside and met our limo driver Stan. It was funny because we were using Stan Severance as our videographer and DH name is Stanley.

Getting in and out of the limo in the wedding dress was quite the challenge.

Wedding Day Part 4 Finally it is 2:22

Everyone made their way over to Sunset Point. We were a little early so I had to wait about 5 minutes before I started my walk down the aisle. Finally it was 2:22!

download.jpg

The thing I didn't really think about was that I was walking up a little bit of a hill. I almost stepped on my dress and tripped a couple of times.

2.jpg

It is a very long walk to the alter at Sunset Point but I finally made it

AS07432-22-12.jpg

Ron Rosenzweig was are officiant and did a very nice job. It was a fairly short but meaningful ceremony which was exactly what I wanted.

download1.jpg

Even though it was a short ceremony, Stanley rushed it and put the ring on my finger much sooner then he was suppose to.

download2.jpg

Then it was time for the sand ceremony were I officially became part of the family with Stanley, Tyler and Alex

Finally it was time to kiss the bride

And we are married:woohoo:

So after the ceremony finished fireworks went off at the castle for the Dream along with Mickey show. For a minute I had Stanley convinced I had it arranged just for us:rotfl:

AS09002-22-12.jpg

Then it was time for our first dance. We danced to Love My Tender by Elvis because the first trip we ever took together was to Memphis and we went to Graceland.

AS09032-22-12.jpg

After that it was group pictures. One of my favorite parts of having a small wedding was having pictures with all of my guest

Soon enough we were done with pictures and it was time for cake:yay:

Stanley and Alex decided to get a ride to the party

Woo Hoo Elvis.

Love that fireworks went off after your ceremony for the dreams show. What an unexpected surprise.

Looking forward to the cke update.

It was a very cool surprise with the fireworks because one of my favorite things to do at WDW is sit on the balcony of our hotel room and watch wishes.

So before we headed over to Tangaroa Terrace for cake, Karen let us know that they were moving our reception from Sago Cay Pointe to the Whitehall Patio because there was a front coming in from Tampa.

We did a really bad job of cutting the cake even with a lesson from Karen.

After cake and champagne everyone else headed back to the GF for the reception while Stanley and I went to take more pictures on the beach at the Poly. Stanley was not really happy about more pictures.
