The faceless children take a top-secret trip to WDW...

WOW.. those diaper covers look really cool!! you did a great job!I wish I could sew but I suck at it!!LOL

Very cute diaper covers! I read your post yesterday but didn't have time to comment! It's been a busy week.

Thanks! I totally understand, summer is so very busy for everyone, and you're more busy than most people I know. Maybe more busy than everyone I know put together! We all have more time to respond when we're locked inside all winter, hiding from the cold!

Thank you! I think I'm better than I am, certainly. You don't want to know how many things I've tried to make because, "I could totally make that!" and then I really couldn't. :rolleyes1 My "education" in sewing consists of half a year of home ec in 7th grade. :rotfl: I just consider it my hobby, and then I don't feel bad when I'm bad at it!

Haha! I am a very busy person. I can't wait until next Sun, Mon, Tues and Wed. I actually have some downtime and then it's off to Annapolis for a few days.

I just noticed that you put your upcoming trips to Disney in your signature. Just to let you know....2011 package prices should be coming out at the beginning of August. :thumbsup2

I don't think I can handle thinking in depth about more than one trip at a time, but DH can and he'll be totally excited to know that! He's already juggling all the trips around in his head trying to figure out what's best for dining options and hoppers and APs... Although, we won't need tickets for Feb/April because of the AP, and we're hoping for some sort of AP room discount, but we're talking about changing our August/September trip to a Nov. trip for DS's birthday next year and we'll be booking a package for that one. We'll be keeping you busy, anyway. :lmao: Who knew taking a lot of disney trips could get so complicated?!? (You did, I bet, now that you're in the business!)

I adore trips to Disney, but I can still only think about one at a time! There usually are some great AP discounts and I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for them. A birthday trip for J.J. sounds wonderful! I felt so special when we went last June. Wearing that birthday button sure gets you a lot of added attention.

...or you know, I could have called this section, "clothes".

So, we went to Amvets today looking for...sweaters, for covers...:lmao: I have a problem, I think! On the plus side, I found two. I can't decide if that purpley one is very "me" or if it's hideous. :confused3 But either way, DH wants me to embellish it with Tiana.

But, while I was there, I found some great stuff! (Nothing like shopping when you don't really need anything, but at least I was getting stuff really cheap!)

I found these for Sydney for our trip. That nemo one is brand new, I'm pretty sure. You know how the image will get cracked and stuff when you wash it? Well, this one is completely pristine.

Also, I found this for Syd for our trip as well:

Isn't it so cute? I mean, someone made that! And someone who can actually sew, not someone like me. That little heart is a pocket, and on the back, the buttons are fish!

And then, I found this...it's pretty big, Syd won't be able to wear it until she's probably 3 or 4, and it will be long then! But it was so beautiful, I couldn't pass it up! Can you tell that's mickey and minnie on there? My computer is uploading really slow or I'd take another picture. You'll just have to believe me if you can't tell!

And, completely unrelated, Jay found a fisher price kid tough camera in it's case for $1.98...it's a new version, really light and nice. We bought him one for $50 two years ago and I can hardly push the button to take the picture. This is way nicer. Wish I hadn't bought that other one when he was two, but oh well.

I have other updates, but I saved them on my laptop in word, and I was just using the trial version. Well, that ran out so I finally bothered to type in the product code from the bottom of my laptop, and I can't get it work. The laptop is a refurb, so I tried both the refurb code and the old code, and it wouldn't accept either. :headache: So I can't access any of those files. Maybe DH can figure it out this weekend.

You got some really awesome deals!! WOW makes me wanna go to the thrift store this weekend! I love those dresses! and that purple and green one will look so cute with Tiana on it

Wow! You got some really cute stuff at Amvets! I actually like the purple sweater, but then again, I love anything with stripes on it. :goodvibes I think if you put Tiana on it, it will be perfect. It's just the right colors.

Lol we love our thrift stores! I know some places don't have nice ones, but there's one here that always has the nicest stuff. In fact, when my kids are wearing like, super nice GAP clothes instead of walmart clothes, you can bet that it's second hand. It's the best for kids clothes especially though, as long as you look through, some of that stuff is brand new!

DH asked me, "Don't you think that sweater is very, 'New Orleans'?" :lmao: DH is a bit girly sometimes. In fact, when we were in Maryland we were at a party and they were serving drinks, and DH doesn't normally drink but when I saw that they were serving girly drinks I knew he would be all over that so I got them to make him one. When they brought it out they were like, "Who's the dude that wanted the chick drink?" :rotfl: He was really excited when I told him too. He's very secure in his masculinity, these things don't bother him in the slightest!

I like the purple sweater, I just think it looks weird next to the blue one or something. I love the stripes too...I'm going to use the arms of the sweaters to make pants for Sydney this winter, and I am very excited about stripey pants!

Wow! Awesome deals!!!

Amanda

Thanks! I can't pass up a sale, so thrift stores are my weakness. :confused3 As is the disney outlet online. Luckily, shipping normally keeps me at bay on that one!

Hey, I've been so busy that I haven't even had time to check in lately!

Love the diaper covers and the great thrift store finds. :thumbsup2

Do you put ID on your kids at the parks? J.J. isn't a runner, but he tends to wander without looking for where we are. I think that won't be much of an issue at disney because he's also lazy and loves the stroller, but I do want to put ID on him somehow. I'm a worrier about him getting lost or stolen. I've been trying to teach him that if he gets lost he should find a mommy with a lot of kids, but we have this sesame street book where Maria tells Ernie to find a salesperson behind the counter, and he's reluctant to learn anything else. I tell him about finding a mommy and he's all, "Yes, Mommy." and then I say, "So what do you do if you get lost?" and he says, "Find a salesperson behind a counter." I mean, it's better than nothing, but that's hard at disney since you have to find a store first to find a salesperson.

So if you put ID on your kids at disney, what do you do? He won't do one of those tatoo things with his sensory issues. He can't stand that sort of thing.

The kids lanyards will be multi-functional. In addition to holding their pins for trading they will also have a mini itinerary, snack coupons, and ID attatched to the clip on the lanyard. In addition to their names and ages the ID card will have our cell phone numbers andthe name of our resort on them just in case. Jace got lost at Six Flags once and it was TERRIBLE so even though I don't think it will be an issue I want to be prepared.

ETA: As for what they should do if they get lost the first thing I'll do when we enter a park is point out the shirts of the CMs and tell them to look for that shirt. If they can't find someone in one of those shirts then they should look for a mom with kids- mom's will statistically be the safest and most helpful.

My girls are old enough that we just reviewed what CM badges look like. I told them to find someone with that nametag and stay put. I would come find them. For a younger one, I might safety pin my cell number onto a shoe and teach them how to show it.

popcorn:: subbing in...I need to get caught up w/ all your updates links...be back...I know I'm late in te game...but still be fun to see what has happened in your planning and swoop right in for the last bits of fun

That is smart about the lanyards. I never thought about that. I wonder if J.J. will wear his lanyard most of the time. Something to think about, for sure. I feel like 3 1/2 is such a tough age...he's independent enough not to think about it while running off, but he's so small and shy yet that he won't be good about asking for help.

I'm just afraid he'll forget what he's supposed to do when he's in a panic, you know? He'll be wearing crocs, so ID on his shoes won't work, but we did think about that! My mom suggested maybe making a bracelet with our cell number on it, but I know that will drive DH crazy since everyone already thinks he's a girl!

Thanks for coming over! Beware that I am sporadic about updating at best, AND most of my plans have changed since I started this. Really, most of them. I haven't even updated about most of the stuff we're NOT going to do, because it's just embarrassing and well, you'll see in the TR! Once I figure out how to unlock my copy of word, I do have bunches of updates, and I've been busy sewing lately, so things are bound to look up!

We have Who's Shoes. They are velcro and go on their shoes. We've taught the kids to show them to someone with a name tag. My eldest wandered off at the Bronx Zoo one time and the zoo employee was just about to call us (because of the shoe tag) when my DH arrived.

Amanda

ETA: I just saw your comment about crocs. Hmm. Would he wear a bracelet or ankle bracelet? They make some ID bracelets similar to silly bandz.

Lol I was just going to ask if they would stay on the band on his crocs. Do you know where I could find a link for those ID bracelets? I was trying to look for some, but couldn't find any. I do think he'd wear one if we explained to him what it is...he's big on safety.
