The faceless children take a top-secret trip to WDW...

I use those JoAnns coupons to get fabric and such too. Cute clothes for Jay! :woohoo: for shopping deals! You will have to post a pic if you care too of all the loot you got. TFS the Easter morning pics--cute egg hunt!

:yay: for a practice trip! I learned so much from our trip to NC. :goodvibes: I agree about the snacks--we definitely need to makes sure I have snacks with us in our backpack. They have paper straws in AK--could you put regular, plastic straws in your park bag? I am considering this and then making sure they end up were they belong when finished with them. The other thing I am considering is bringing a take and toss sippy cup to pour drinks in there while in AK.

Wow, it seems like you got some good info on your practice trip! So smart!

My kids are much older than yours and we figured out long ago (and it still holds true at the ripe old ages of 9 and 11) that they are easier to get along with if they have a break (they don't nap anymore but still need some downtime on vacation) in the middle of the day. We go back out in the evenings when we're on vacation but a mid afternoon break is a must. You might consider a ride on the friendship boats, monorail, MK railroad, etc. as a way to sit down and rest with the little ones without having to trek all the way back to the resort.

What a fun trip to the Zoo! I haven't been to the TO zoo since I was maybe 10 or so. I'll have to check it out.

It's hard to give you a ball-park on disposable diaper changes cause you'll probably be giving your DD lots to drink cause it'll prob be hot. I wouldn't wait more than 2.5 hours.
You can def bring your own straw into AK. Just bring it back out with you ;)
In Babies R Us they sell water bottle toppers. Perhaps you can look into those. The screw onto water bottles to make them spill proof.

I think it's awesome that you're taking notes during your trips to use towards Disney. It's always good to be prepared. :thumbsup2

Our stroller lays all the way back and the canopy part can be pulled all the way down and Ashlyn has taken her naps that way in the parks in past trips. Hopefully it will work just as well during our next trip!! I wouldn't want to take a nap break back at the hotel unless absolutely necessary, either. Especially since we are going to be there just for one full day. But anyway, thanks for the zoo pictures! So cute. :)

Can't be too prepared, I figure. Even if Sydney will be so much older by then, it's still good to get an idea!

I wonder how far down our canopy goes. J.J. is really good about naps at home, I do wonder how he would do if we just tell him that it's nap time and recline his seat. He needs that nap and he knows it! Maybe not the first day, but on other days. I will have to try it out around here and see how it goes. The only problem I can see is that in bed he always rolls onto his tummy to fall asleep, so it might take him longer. I mean, he does sleep in the carseat and stroller, but it's never on purpose!

Love the pics! That's great that you got a huge bargain from the Disney Store.

Amanda

Thanks! It was very crazy to be shopping long distance and trying to look up pictures of these things on disneyshopping.com. The things I'll do for a bargain! :lmao:

I will definitely post a picture of all the stuff I got, but it will be July before it gets here since it's sitting in my brother's apartment in CA. My mom is going out there in July though, and my brother is coming here 2 weeks later (we're taking turns so my mom can go on vacation...my brother is coming here and my mom is going to my sister's house, and my sister is coming here and my mom is going to my brother's...it's a lot of work watching my grandma so we need to tag team just incase she needs to go to the hospital or something. It's a lot of work for me, really, since I'm the one who knows how to take care of her and do everything she needs done in the bathroom, but they're here just in case. It's good for my mom though, and she'll get to go to disneyland and bring us back souvenirs! But anyway, they'll just bring back our stuff in luggage when all that happens.

I didn't know they had paper straws in AK, that would be fine. I thought they just wouldn't let you bring in plastic straws, although they'd really never know since we just left one in Jay's water bottle and closed the lid. Sounds easy enough!

That's actually a great idea, something like the monorail especially where Jay could be in the stroller. Something boring, really, is what I need for him!

The zoo was great. If you have a buffalo zoo membership you get 50% off admission. Plus, kids under 4 are free, so it was a good deal.

Thanks for the guess on diapers, I was like, does no one know, I know most people use them! I just have very limited experience with them...I had to take J.J. to the doctors unexpectedly this week (the toilet seat fell on well, his little boy parts, when we was going to the bathroom...he's fine...he has a bruise but the doctor said, "you'd be surprised how often this happens"...we went out and shelled out the $30 a toilet seat to buy slow-close ones that don't slam on Thursday night) and since I was in a hurry I just threw some disposables and some disposable wipes in a diaper bag for Syd just in case I ended up being out longer than I thought...and man that bag was weightless! It was like carrying an empty bag! Cloth is a lot of good things, but light or small it is not!

OMG!! I hope JJ is ok!! Now you've got me worried. I think I'll be going to Home Depot tonight! DSs favorite thing to do is play with the toliet seat and he's in a phase where he won't let anyone in there with him. I see an accident like that happening in our future!

Yes, please do! Worth every penny of those expensive toilet seats! It was not good! He's fine, but better your DS be spared the experience... ;)

Alright, so I hope everyone with little boys read my last post about Jay and is now sponsoring the outrageously expensive slow-close toilet seat industry. :thumbsup2

I've been reading all the packing lists on Charliefours trip report, and it got me thinking...so I have a few questions for you!

1. Do I need a full change of clothes for both kids? I could probably bring one "In the middle" sized outfit that would fit either of them if need-be.

2. Do you bring swimsuits (or at least a swim diaper) into the park for playing in splash areas?

3. I actually figured out how to change Syd's diaper with her standing up yesterday, so I can take her into the stall to do that (she was SO happy that I didn't have to pin her down and lay her down to change her, she actually gave me a hug after! ) But so here is my question: when you're changing diapers, do you bring your whole bag into the bathroom, or do you pack "single diaper change" bags (you know, like one diaper, wipes, that sort of thing), or do you just have a specific diaper bag that you bring in? I can't decide which I think would be more convenient in the parks. When I'm out I just bring my whole bag in, but I'm not sure how I feel about that at Disney, especially since I'll be changing her in the stall. (I'll use the changing table if she poops, by the way, I'm not that resourceful!)

4. What, if anything, do you feel comfortable leaving in your stroller while you go on rides? Last time we didn't leave anything in the stroller, but I'm not sure if that's the way to go.

I'm excited to hear your opinions!

On the free dining front, they extended the kids stay and play offer through October 2 and that doesn't feel like a good sign. Plus, that deal really frustrates me. Kids ALREADY stay free in your room! They're just trying to make it sound better than it is. We're giving it until Monday, I think...the problem is that we're talking about possibly flying down on Friday morning to save money, and because we could fly Southwest then and we're building up Southwest credits to get some free flights in the next few years. BUT, if free dining comes out we want to fly down Thursday night so that we get the extra food. Airfare is only going up, so we're just kind of stuck waiting and waiting right now. DH and I have kind of loosely agreed that Monday we give up and book our airfare. We can always change later and use those SW credits for a future flight, but I really hate to have money tied up now for a February flight. It is what it is though, so wait and see. :confused3

ok, 1st I'll try and help you with questions...

1. I did not bring a full outfit for DS everytime I went into the parks. It depends what you are doing I'd say and what your 'style' is. You won't really have infants so what would be the worst thing to happen? JJ has an accident in his pants? You'll need shorts I guess but only you can answer how likely that is to happen. Your DD could have a blow-out but you seem to know her habits by now. My DSs diaper did leak once (#1) but it was so hot that day that I rinsed the little spot and it dried before any harm was done.

2. I have never brought a bathing suit or swim diaper in the parks for the sole purpose of letting DS play in the fountains. Just not something we've done. He went and played near the fountains once but he didn't soak himself, just stuck is arms in a bit.

3. Changing standing up is a good thing! I did that with DS even on the changing stations cause I think they are sooo gross anyway. I usually just bring into the bathroom 1 diaper and a travel thing of wipes. But again, if you know it's #2 or you'll need a change of clothes I have a small diaper bag that fits across my body that I use.

4. I left everything in the stroller. My whole diaper bag and stroller bag. I only make sure I don't leave wallets, cameras, phones. If someone needs my diapers or extra outfits/bottles/snacks then I suppose they need them more than we do. If I purchase something I just try to hide it underneath jackets or sweatshirts. I guess until I get burned I'll keep the 'faith' that nothing will happen to my stuff.

I too saw the Kids eat free was extended and think that is not such a good deal either. But I have heard MANY rumors about FD of some sort so keep positive :)
If you book SW for Thurs you won't lose any $$ if you have to cancel and switch to Friday. You can use the credits right away to re-book.

Just my two bits on the fountains - my kids LOVED the squirting fountains and I ended up packing swimsuits and a towel on the days I knew we'd be around them (MK and Epcot). They could've spent hours playing in them! It was a nice break for the two older ones on a day we didn't return for naps, while our youngest napped in the stroller, and was also good at Epcot for dh and I to eat while they played. They got thoroughly soaked every time, so if you think it's something your son would really love I'd pack the suit and/or change of clothes.

Oh, Disneychix, you put all these ideas into my head! i'm such a minimalist, the idea of not bringing so much in my bag is very tempting. I'm not worried about Jay having an accident, that's incredibly unlikely, I'm just worried he'll spill drinks or ice cream all over himself. I'm always terribly overprepared. :confused3 I don't think Syd would have a blow out either, since we're using disposables as inserts in a cloth diaper cover, and you just don't get blow outs in cloth since there's real elastic, and on the back too. I don't think I've ever even had a pee leak in the 3.5 years that I've been doing it. So maybe she doesn't need a change either. Plus, I'm not against buying some cute clothes if I have too...:scratchin

2. I have never brought a bathing suit or swim diaper in the parks for the sole purpose of letting DS play in the fountains. Just not something we've done. He went and played near the fountains once but he didn't soak himself, just stuck is arms in a bit.

I don't think J.J. has that kind of self control. If he gets wet, he'll be all wet!

3. Changing standing up is a good thing! I did that with DS even on the changing stations cause I think they are sooo gross anyway. I usually just bring into the bathroom 1 diaper and a travel thing of wipes. Completely smart to change standing on the tables...they really gross me out! Plus, my kids always try and run away from me when I change them, so changing tables in general are a bad idea...I really prefer to change them on the floor.

4. I left everything in the stroller. My whole diaper bag and stroller bag. I only make sure I don't leave wallets, cameras, phones. I like this philosophy and I want to adopt it for my own! I'm such a worried type A person...I'm working on it!

the problem was that the thurs flight we need is airtran. But free dining came out, so no problem anymore. Now I just have to wait for my travel agent to get back to me and hope she did a good job. So far she's just stressing me out. On the plus side, if she lets me down I can always book during the General Public offer on Monday.

replies above

I think J.J. will love it. Maybe I can just stash the stuff under the stroller. I know where the fountains are at epcot...does MK only have Donald's Boat? That might be closed already. Just wondering where to be prepared!

Donald's Boat and Ariel's Grotto at MK. We did Donald's Boat. Fountains at Epcot were where they had the most fun though.

Thanks for the info! I have no idea if both of those will be closed or not, but if they aren't, I'll have to check them out!

Whew, all that fretting for nothing! I did not expect that free dining would really be offered today! In fact, DH would not believe me for like, half an hour once I told him people were saying it was out. Actually, he still wouldn't believe me until I told him that Dancegrl624 (Meghan) had posted that she had gotten it, and I knew she wouldn't lie! Somehow that he believed. :confused3 So thanks for posting on that thread Meghan, or DH would still be in denial!

I e-mailed my travel agent this morning but I didn't hear back from her all day. :scared: In fact, we didn't hear from her until DH called after work, and even then she had to call him back. So I don't know if she did it this morning or what, but that was pretty frustrating, and I'll probably just book the rest of my trips this year myself, I mean she's nice, but that was not the way I wanted to spend my day without any contact with her at all! We used her last trip because DH didn't want to be on the phone all day at work waiting, but it seems like people got through pretty early today.

Anyway, all that drama over, we got exactly what we wanted, free quickservice at Pop in a standard room for 9/23-10/3. Amazing!

The next thing we need to look into is booking our flights, and also I want to search around and see what some of the bigger meals are at Disney, because I want to see what we can do for sharing meals so that we can use some meals for breakfast too. I'm sure there have to be threads on the dining section of the DIS that can help me with that!

Also related to dining, I need to look into what vegetarian meals there are (I just tend to eat that way, and J.J. sometimes thinks eating meat is mean, and sometimes doesn't, so who knows what mood he'll be in on our trip), and I need to e-mail disney dining about Syd's food issues and see what info they can give me, because she's still sensitive to preservatives.

I'm very excited to have all this work to do! :cheer2:

I'm so glad I could help!!!! I've recently thought about becoming a TA, but I personally don't think I could book a trip using one! I'm such a control freak and I actually LIKE doing all the calling, planning, etc.

One of our personal favs for CS is Sunshine Seasons at the Land. Tony and I always split a meal there. Most entrees come with 2 sides, a drink and a dessert....so it's a lot of food. We usually end up getting the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with glazed carrots and mashed potatos. Yum! I'd go over to allears.net and look at their menus. You can get a good idea of how big CS meals will be.

Glad that the question on my PTR got you thinking. I love how DISers are so helpful! And we can ask these questions without them rolling their eyes. :disrocks: I am so glad FD came out for Visa Card holders/coming out for general public.:cheer2: I sure hope all of us are able to get the rooms we want! :cloud9:

I think I am going to have a change of clothes for DD, they do not take up much space. Torn on the swimsuit, but probably not.

Yay for free dining!! :cheer2:

At the top of every page on the dis boards you can click where it says "Dining" and then navigate to menus of most restaurants at WDW. And anything not found there can be found on allears.net. I have literally spent hours looking at those menus and deciding where we could eat that everyone would like and also get the most bang for our buck (well, Disney's buck since it's FREEEEE).

I'm so glad that Free Dining came out! I am not getting it since we'll only be there for one full day, but I knew that so many people on here were looking forward to it. So when I saw on Twitter that it came out, I was so excited for everyone! :cheer2: Glad it all worked out for you. :)

Hooray for free dining!!!
We have a big backpack diaper bag that we bring to the parks. I leave a change for each child in the bag. When changing a diaper, I usually just grab and diaper and the wipes rather than dragging the bag into the bathroom. We're pretty free and easy with leaving the diaper bag on the stroller (without any valuables). I've never had a problem.
We haven't had experience with the water play areas yet but I guess I'll either pack bathing suits or have the kids wear them on days when that would come up. :confused3
