The Empty Nesters Magical Mystery Tour *1/28* Link to New Girl's TR p141

Your travel plans all sound wonderful! Nice to have so much to look forward to! :)

We'll be there in Feb. too. Caitlin is doing the half marathon so were going to go and cheer her on and then decided since we're going to be there, we may as well do the Family 5K. Should be fun!

I always love your AK photos. You always capture the parks beauty! :goodvibes

Do you remember if the veggie burger was good? I have not had a Disney veggie burger, but might like to, if it's worth a try

I enjoyed all the Nemo pictures. Nemo is one of our favorite movies, and that show is also a favorite of ours.

I love Williamsburg. We went last year with friends and it was interesting to say the least.

My DH is set to retire in 2 to 6 years. Still working on that since the city is giving his department a hard time. Part of me is excited that we will be able to travel more and part of me wants him to work for a long time. It will be a new adventure. I can understand the mixed feelings.

October sounds great. We are doing our first cruise in November and I did join a FE group. I don't normally like new situations so I thought this would be a great way to have some people I "know" in advance.

I love the gorilla pics. I could spend an entire day just watching them. I could caption the one but it wouldn't make sense. It reminds me of the baseball director at the club my grandkids play for. He couldn't get his own way and took it out on the kids by withdrawing them from an elite tournament. I am just a little angry at his attitude because my DGS was supposed to play in that tournament.

I need to see the Nemo musical again, it's been a long time. I use the line from Bruce all the time with my mom. She is always trying to get me to eat more fish - I just tell her "Fish are friends, not food!"

At least I am on time with an update for once.

Sounds like some great future plans coming together. I didn't realize you had a fundraiser page on FB.......I'll try to locate it sometime today.

Quite a busy day you had. I love walking the trails at AK! There are always interesting things to see. I actually got to see Lily the last time I visited the gorilla habitat.

Veggie burger? I figure why bother. If I can't have the meat added in, I'll just forget about the bun too and have a salad. Much easier and less messy to eat............ :rotfl2:

Nemo is such an awesome show! How lucky you got to sit up towards the front. Like you, I normally get there late and am stuck near the back. I never seem to time it right. :confused3 You got some great close up shots! :thumbsup2

Anyone have a caption for this picture?

This new play toy blows!!! I thought they said they were installing us a new rockING horse???

A Happy Ending

I never realized they had a Cyclops operating the hammerhead shark character............ :scratchin

We'll be at the WL from Oct 22nd to Oct 27th. It would be fun to "run into each other" while you are still there. :)

Sounds like you have some great plans coming up! I hope they all come together great for you and Happy Anniversary!

I love the shots you got at AK! I hope your stomach starts to feel better - it stinks to be miserable on vacation. :worried:

All of your travel plans sound great! I do hope you decide to run the phm and with training for your bike race... I bet you could fall into phm training pretty easy. Course... sounds like you are there no matter what so at least I will get to meet you then, yes? :goodvibes

Love the gorilla pics and Nemo ones. I think it is interesting that the same actors seem to be still doing the show.

Ooooh I LOVE Busch Gardens. I liked it more when they (and SeaWorld) had free beer, but...

Haha, I hope Caitlin has bought stock in World of Beer (or at least is in line for some kickbacks). She's made that place a Stacey Must Do.

Ooooh, a gorilla caption challenge. I thinking we have a misbehaving gorilla and he's clearly on a time out. "Even on a time out, he's STILL bigger than Gaston!" or "Don't look, I'm updating my Facebook status on my phone".

God that Nemo show is so impressive. I've still only seen it one time, but with all your lovely photos, I feel like I've seen it again.

Great pics as usual and I enjoyed "half the normal amount" of pics from Nemo.

I can't wait to here about your cruise. You all are going to LOVE it! We just did the Fish Extender on our trip. There are some great aspects and some not so great aspects. Our group had about 22 state rooms in it so it took us quite a bit of time. A smaller group would have been much more manageable, especially since we had to fly with all of our gifts. You all will love your cruise either way though! I can't wait to see your pics of Castaway Cay...I'm sure they will be phenomenal.

Your travel plans all sound wonderful! Nice to have so much to look forward to! :)

Thanks Dawn! I am always planning that next vacation! I feel very blessed and lucky to be able to plan so many wonderful vacations!

We'll be there in Feb. too. Caitlin is doing the half marathon so were going to go and cheer her on and then decided since we're going to be there, we may as well do the Family 5K. Should be fun!

That's awesome! I am so excited you will be there. I registered for the phm today. With so many DISers doing it how could I not? I'm scared, but very excited! You'll have to share all your travel details with me as we get closer to the time. I am sure Caitlin is going to kill this race. Her running times are really impressive!

I always love your AK photos. You always capture the parks beauty! :goodvibes

Thank you! :good vibes

Do you remember if the veggie burger was good? I have not had a Disney veggie burger, but might like to, if it's worth a try
.

I remember it being yummy, but different from the veggie sandwich I had several years prior. I think that was more vegetables and this was a patty. Now I see its a black bean patty with avocado topping. I know that's not what I had.:confused3

I enjoyed all the Nemo pictures. Nemo is one of our favorite movies, and that show is also a favorite of ours.

Me too! :good vibes I think the show is awesome. It's so well done! And just think - you will be watching it VERY SOON!!!!!!!:cool1:

I love Williamsburg. We went last year with friends and it was interesting to say the least.

Isn't it great? I love it there. I'm not sure what it is. I think its the combo of all the history stuff (so I feel like I'm learning something or at least attempting to) and the fun you can have at the theme park and water park. There is also so much around the general area. I always go for short trips, but I wish I could go for a week sometime because there is a lot I want to do in Norfolk and Newport News.

My DH is set to retire in 2 to 6 years. Still working on that since the city is giving his department a hard time. Part of me is excited that we will be able to travel more and part of me wants him to work for a long time. It will be a new adventure. I can understand the mixed feelings.

I definitely has mixed feelings. He's done well with his retirement account and he's pretty adamant about it. We'll see how it goes. :rolleyes1

October sounds great. We are doing our first cruise in November and I did join a FE group. I don't normally like new situations so I thought this would be a great way to have some people I "know" in advance.

I definitely need to meet a few people ahead of time. I'm just not sure why it feels like work to me. I promise to get started socializing soon!

I love the gorillas, too! They are super cool.

OK - that coach/director is NOT cool! I don't blame you at all for being angry. Why take it out on the kids? Crazy! I hate when adults act like babies. :sad2:

I need to see the Nemo musical again, it's been a long time. I use the line from Bruce all the time with my mom. She is always trying to get me to eat more fish - I just tell her "Fish are friends, not food!"

:rotfl2: That's probably the line of every person who doesn't care to eat fish. OMG - too funny! :rotfl2:

At least I am on time with an update for once.

:thumbsup2 I'm rarely on time, so you certainly have me beat!

Plans are sounding great.

Have you done Busch Garden in Tampa before? We weren't thrilled with it the last time we were there.

I think part of the reason we've not committed to a cruise is those darn fish extenders. I have no desire whatsoever to participate in them and I am afraid it makes me an unfriendly DISer.

I really want to go to Williamsburg one day.

Great pictures of the gorillas, and spectacular photos of the Finding Nemo show. I'm torn between Nemo and Lion King for our September trip (and don't think we'll have time for both).

We love Williamsburg too. We've been a couple of times. Always have to have dinner at the Kings Arms when we're there, and catch an 18th century play or the crystal concert.

Nice job in keeping the Nemo pictures to a minimum.

Show Time

Hey All.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Before I start my update I want to give you a future trip update because I have a few things on the horizon.

First - At the end of August I will be taking a short trip to Williamsburg, which is my second favorite vacation destination after Disney World. There are so many things I enjoy doing there, but I will definitely be hitting Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. I am seriously considering buying a Busch Gardens AP so I can use it again in Florida.

October is our 25th anniversary trip. We will be staying 2 nights at VWL and 3 nights at VGF. Of course, the WL pool is closed while we are there. UGH! :faint: But with our pool hopping privileges and a car I am sure we will be just fine.

We plan to go to the MNSSHP on the 19th. We have something special planned for our anniversary on the 21st. We won't have a Disney Park pass, but if we get that BG AP we will be heading to Seaworld for a day or two. I would also like to visit Universal Studios for a couple days, but I really don't want to get too overbooked before the cruise. I would like to have a day just to chill at the Grand Flo and do nothing. One of the things I really want to do this trip is finish the World of Beer (or whatever its called) that Princess Caitlin seems to love so much. I’ve got to see this place for myself.

Then its time for our first cruise. We are doing a 4 night Cream double dip that sails on the 23rd. I have to be honest. I haven’t really gotten into the whole fish extender thing. Is that bad? I’m subbed to a FB group and I guess I should try to meet some online friends, but I haven’t really felt like it. Am I missing out?

After the cruise we had a night at BCV. We invited K&T to come spend some time with us on this trip. I was going to book them a studio at WDW, but instead they want to pick us up from the cruise and now we are all staying at the Ron Jon Resort for one night. Apparently, they stayed here before and loved it. We'll see. They are going to drive us to the airport the next day. So I reluctantly canceled our one night at the BC. BOO!

Awesome plans.

Anyone have a caption for this picture?

MAn.... Timeout again...

Wanna hock a luggie

I snorted at that. Hehe

Sounds like some great future plans coming together. I didn't realize you had a fundraiser page on FB.......I'll try to locate it sometime today.

I am pretty psyched about our future plans! I am officially registered for the phm and I'm hoping that some of my DIS friends that I met in May will decided to visit WDW that weekend!

Quite a busy day you had. I love walking the trails at AK! There are always interesting things to see. I actually got to see Lily the last time I visited the gorilla habitat.

Lilly is so darn cute. I should post the picture of her as a baby in 2010. I got a couple great shots of her then. I think the gorillas are really super cool. I love watching them.

Veggie burger? I figure why bother. If I can't have the meat added in, I'll just forget about the bun too and have a salad. Much easier and less messy to eat............ :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I actually really like veggie burgers and veggie sandwiches. Well, most of them. I have had a couple crappy ones that have left me crying "where's the beef?" :rotfl:

Nemo is such an awesome show! How lucky you got to sit up towards the front. Like you, I normally get there late and am stuck near the back. I never seem to time it right. :confused3 You got some great close up shots! :thumbsup2

Thanks. I am pleased with most of the shots. Being closer than usual really did help with the pictures! In the future I will try to get there a little earlier. It really was a better seat!

This new play toy blows!!! I thought they said they were installing us a new rockING horse???

:rotfl2: Good one! Seriously? That rocking horse is not going anywhere! :rotfl2:

I never realized they had a Cyclops operating the hammerhead shark character............ :scratchin

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: I see that now! Great eye!

We'll be at the WL from Oct 22nd to Oct 27th. It would be fun to "run into each other" while you are still there. :)

We'll be at WL 10/18-10/20 and then VGF 10/20-10/23. It would definitely be fun to meet. We'll probably do something for breakfast on 10/23 before we leave for the port so if you are up for that let me know. Or maybe sometime on the 22nd.

Sounds like you have some great plans coming up! I hope they all come together great for you and Happy Anniversary!

I am pretty excited for the anniversary trip. I'm really striving for a perfect balance between relaxation and "go, go, go". I just know its going to be a great trip.

I love the shots you got at AK! I hope your stomach starts to feel better - it stinks to be miserable on vacation. :worried:

Thanks!

I wasn't miserable, but I certainly was not myself. Stay tuned for more on THAT. :crazy2:

We love Williamsburg - actually honeymooned there, stayed in one of the houses in the historic district.

Great pics from Nemo!

We'll be at WL 10/18-10/20 and then VGF 10/20-10/23. It would definitely be fun to meet. We'll probably do something for breakfast on 10/23 before we leave for the port so if you are up for that let me know. Or maybe sometime on the 22nd.
Either breakfast on the 23rd or maybe meeting for a drink before dinner on the 22nd would be fun. We can plan something as we get a little closer to the trip dates. :)

Nice Nemo pictures! Love that show, although I ALWAYS tear up. Every time. Same thing with the movie. :sad1: But it's a good cry!

I don't have a caption for that gorilla picture. :scratchin Interesting! :)

Can you believe my family has never been to Williamsburg? And it's relatively close! We probably should address that.

I haven’t really gotten into the whole fish extender thing. Is that bad? I’m subbed to a FB group and I guess I should try to meet some online friends, but I haven’t really felt like it. Am I missing out?

Nah. The point of your trip is to have fun and do what you want. We didn't bother, and made out just fine.

We have a rental car arranged that we can drop off at the port. We are on the same cruise with Podsnel. I know its going to be a blast.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My dear husband is set to retire in May. Even though I am very happy for him, I have very mixed feelings about it. *sigh*

Congrats Denny!

Back on the home front I am training to do the MS Bike to the Bay here in Delaware in September. I haven’t ridden this ride since Brian was in 3rd grade. That’s a long time! But I’ve gotten inspired by a lot of my younger friends that I see getting into fitness and I work with much younger people in my new job and many of them are really into fitness.

With all the running you do, I didn't think fitness was a problem!

Anyone have a caption for this picture?

Not one I can type here.:confused3

Keeping with my theme of not taking good food pictures here’s all I got - a partially eaten veggie burger at Restaurantosaurus

If it's a veggie burger, it can't possibly be a good food picture. :rolleyes1

All of your travel plans sound great! I do hope you decide to run the phm and with training for your bike race... I bet you could fall into phm training pretty easy. Course... sounds like you are there no matter what so at least I will get to meet you then, yes? :goodvibes

Well, as you know I am officially IN for the PHM! :cool1: You and Cynthia have been hugely helpful in sharing tidbits with me. That running site is fantastic. Thanks to you I think I found a great race! I have to admit, I stopped doing races years ago because I always got the butterflies SO bad before any race. I realized it wasn't supposed to be stressful and I was always a stress ball for no good reason. So I just decided to keep running for fitness. But this seems like such a cool experience that I can't pass it up.

Love the gorilla pics and Nemo ones. I think it is interesting that the same actors seem to be still doing the show.

I know, right? They always look like the same people - especially Nemo's dad. I am sure they have some regulars, but he ALWAYS looks the same. Must be the glasses! :rotfl:

Ooooh I LOVE Busch Gardens. I liked it more when they (and SeaWorld) had free beer, but...

I have never been to the one in Tampa, but the one in Williamsburg VA is really lovely! It's not Disney, but its a really decent theme park. The only gripe I've ever had is that they should queue their lines a little better. They leave too many empty seats.

Haha, I hope Caitlin has bought stock in World of Beer (or at least is in line for some kickbacks). She's made that place a Stacey Must Do.

Seriously! Now I know I HAVE to go there. I was telling Denny about it the other day. I love discovering new places. As much as I love Disney its really silly not to explore other places while in the area. And I really do love me some beer! ::yes::

Ooooh, a gorilla caption challenge. I thinking we have a misbehaving gorilla and he's clearly on a time out. "Even on a time out, he's STILL bigger than Gaston!" or "Don't look, I'm updating my Facebook status on my phone".

:lmao: OMG Rob! They are ALL seriously funny! I definitely like the FB status comment! Sometimes I feel like that too! :rotfl2:

God that Nemo show is so impressive. I've still only seen it one time, but with all your lovely photos, I feel like I've seen it again.

I try to see it about every other trip. I just get so wrapped up in it. And I always take far too many pictures. This time I think I got the camera settings just right! :thumbsup2

Great pics as usual and I enjoyed "half the normal amount" of pics from Nemo.

Thanks! I think I did a pretty good job of cutting down the number pics. There were really very few that I did NOT post. I'm proud of myself! :rotfl2:

I can't wait to here about your cruise. You all are going to LOVE it! We just did the Fish Extender on our trip. There are some great aspects and some not so great aspects. Our group had about 22 state rooms in it so it took us quite a bit of time. A smaller group would have been much more manageable, especially since we had to fly with all of our gifts.

I know I am going to love the cruise. I haven't met anyone who doesn't love them.

I can definitely see doing a smaller group. I love bringing gifts to people, but I've only ever done it on a small scale. I am so NOT creative so just figuring out what to get 22 staterooms seems seriously difficult to me. Not to mention having to pack them to fly. It just doesn't sound fun to me and, like Kathy said in her later comment, it makes me feel very un DIS friendly.

You all will love your cruise either way though! I can't wait to see your pics of Castaway Cay...I'm sure they will be phenomenal.

I can't wait to take tons of pictures of EVERYTHING. CC looks amazing and we are doing a double dip so we will be visiting twice! :cool1::cool1:::yes::
