The Dutchies first time to Orlando! *UPDATE 7/27 on pg 11; The end (with surprise!)*

Wow, I'd have to agree with everyone else: your English is great!

And also, I just went to DLP for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was nice, but WDW is my absolute favorite. You are going to love it!!! But, be warned: the two rides that are better at DLP are (1) Big Thunder and (2) Space Mountain. So don't be disappointed!! :)

Hi and thanks for joining my trip report!
I have heard from others that Big Thunder & Space Mountain (and some say Pirates too) are better in Paris, so I'm not expecting great things from the Orlando versions ;)
But I'm positive I'm going to love WDW anyway!

Hiya Marjol

Just wanted to drop by and wish you a wonderful vacation :sunny: You are going to love Disney and Orlando, We loved it and can't wait to return there.
Say Hi to all the characters and the dolphins for me, I am sooooo jealous!!
Dont forget to write a long long and detailed trip report after you return ;)
with lots and lots and even more pictures :goodvibes
(have some fun for me, cause we're not going till 2008)
Have a great time!!!!:thumbsup2

See ya on the boards :grouphug:

Thanks, but we'll have to wait and see...

My boyfriend is sick... since yesterday, I think it's the stomach flu.. :sad2:

He really looks bad, I'm hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.

It would be absolutely terrible if we had to cancel this trip, because we can't even reschedule to another time :sad1:

:wizard: He's feeling better, thank god :wizard:

He got very sick last night, but after vomiting he felt a lot better and he hasn't had any troubles this afternoon (it's 6.30 pm here).

So we're going! I'll try to do a last update later this evening!

Hi Marjol,
good news your boyfriend is feeling better!:thumbsup2 A friend of mine had a stomach flu last week but it went over after 2 days so I`ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I wish you a safe journey and a fantastic trip to WDW:wizard: I am already looking forward to your TR!

Thank you, isma! :goodvibes

This is my last pre-trip report :cheer2: Although I've been counting for 130 days or so, I really can't believe we're leaving in a couple of hours  :woohoo:

And I also couldn't believe it when my boyfriend got sick on wednesday. At first, I thought he'd be OK the next day, but he got even sicker :confused3
I cried a lot last night, thinking our trip would be off :sad1:

But after vomiting (a lot! Sorry for the details ;) ) last night, he is feeling much better now. He didn't have any major problems all day, so I guess he'll be fine in the plane tomorrow, which is what I feared most. I mean, he can also lay in bed in Orlando (while I visit the parcs :rotfl: ) but being sick in the airplane for 11 + 3,5 hours...

But, back to the heat of the moment! I guess we've packed almost everything. I'll check again early tomorrow.
This picture shows our suitcases :rotfl:

I'm saying hi to you from Orlando! :cheer2:

We've been here for a couple of days now and already visited the Studios, Epcot, Universal's Islands of Adventure and Typhoon Lagoon and loved it all! :woohoo:

And we're back!

How can I get this trip report moved to the trip reports board?

Welcome Back.. How was your trip? I am dying to know how it went.. Did you try pming the mod for this forum?

:wizard: Day 1, Leaving home. Orlando, here we come!:wizard:

And with this sentence, I'm starting my trip report. I loved doing the pre-trip report thing, but I'm sure I'll enjoy making the real trip report even more. I hope you'll enjoy! And again, please bear with me on the English. I'm positive I'll make a lot of mistakes, but hey, it's not my home language and I barely ever speak it, so I have an excuse ;)

So, on the first day, may 5th and we got out of bed at 4.30 a.m. I know, that's early... even if you're leaving at 6.00, but I hate to have to rush and I love taking things slow.. so I got up at 4.30. I was so glad that Gerbert was feeling much better! He didn't vomit for a whole day now, which looked promising. I took a shower, ate some breakfast, re-checked the packing lists and checked my e-mail and visited some sites because I had some time left (what a surprise :rotfl: ) My mother and grandmother promised to take us to the airport (which is a one hour drive from here) and they were exactly on time. So we got in the car by 6.00 and were at the airport at 7.00, where we had almost 3 hours left before our flight left. We used the internet check in, so we only had to drop our suitcases off, and went through customs.

We ate something in a diner (travelling makes you hungry!). Gerbert ate his first real meal for three days and didn't have any problems eating, so he was totally healed! :)
After that, we looked around in shops for a while and before we knew it, our boarding time was there! We were asked a lot of questions again (they're really suspicious!) and after that we could finally board our plane. Oh wait, I took a picture of it first!

Our Continental Airlines flight to Houston was quite nice. We loved our personal entertainment screens, so we could each choose the movies we'd like to see. I watched "Catch and release", which was OK, but not really special, and "the Little Princess", which was cute. I have no clue what Gerbert watched.. I think he didn't like that movie too much.
Here we are on the plane:

We got lunch on our flight. We could choose between chicken, beef and vegetarian. We both had the chicken, whitch was actually quite nice. It was filled with cheese and we got a salad, some pasta, beans, bread roll and a nice cake with it. Here's what it looked like:

We also got some snacks and lots of drinks, it was really nice!
After more than 10 hours, we landed in Houston. We had more than 2 hours to catch our next flight, so that should be OK. We had to pick up our suitcases to go through customs again. They were there pretty quickly.

We went through customs and got rid of our suitcases. We walked to our gate. Because we still had a lot of time left, we enjoyed a frappuchino at Starbucks. We don't have Starbucks in the Netherlands, so we really like do drink some frappuchino's while on vacation in the US! And notice the bags under my eyes, I must have been very tired after three nights of almost no sleep because of the sick boyfriend!

Our second flight was pretty uneventful as well, it left on time and took only 2,5 hours. There were small tv screens which showed some comedy's and entertainment programming, which really killed time. We got a turkey sandwich as a snack, which was pretty good!
We landed in Orlando around 7 pm and immediately went to the baggage claim to get our suitcases. We hoped they would get there fast, so we wouldn't have the entire plane in front of us at the car rental. But unfortunately, we had to wait a long time.. by the time Gerbert's suitcase was there, almost everyone was gone :sad2:

Well, we still had to get our rental car, so we went to Alamo. The line wasn't that bad and it took us about 30 minutes to get our paper work done. We walked across the street to pick out a rental car. We picked out a shiny red Chevrolet Cobalt, which looked like this:

After we picked out our car, we drove to our hotel. We stopped at Publix on the way to our hotel to get some drinks and stuff for breakfast the next morning. We finally arrived in the hotel (Courtyard by Marriott Lake Buena Vista) around 9.30 pm. The check in went pretty fast, there was nobody in front of us. We got room 276, which was on the other side of the hotel. When we were finally there, we checked out the spacious room. The beds were really comfortable as well. I was very glad to go to sleep. It was a nice first day, but I was really looking forward for the next day! I'm pretty sure I dreamed about Disney that night... :cloud9:

OMG Marjol you are doing really good in translating... You would think english was your first language... I too  starbucks.. We don't have one close to us so its a treat for me too... I love the picture of the two of you on the plane its perfect.. I can not imagine being on an airplane that long.. Especially with my 3 kids..:scared1: You are doing a great job and I can't wait to read more...

Marjol....My daughter(13 years old) and I just read your whole trip report from page one. It's hard to believe that English isn't your first language. You are terrific at translating.

I loved the Paris trip report. My daughter and I were facinated by the pictures and your descriptions of DLP. She now thinks we should go there.
Maybe we will someday.

You and Gerbert make a cute couple. We can't wait to read more. I'm subscribing to this TR so I can keep checking for updates.

Crossfamily told us about it on another thread. I'm glad she did.

crossfamily: Thanks for reading the first day. I'm glad you liked it. And the flight wasn't bad at all, but I can't imagine doing it with 3 kids either :rotfl:

nsalz: Thanks for reading my entire trip report! I always like to know who is reading! Hope you'll stay for the rest. :)

Like everyone else, I want to comment on your command of the English language.
You spell, punctuate, and have better grammar than most Americans!
I'd love to be bilingual. I envy Europeans that ability.
You two are a cute couple. Looking forward to the rest of your report.
I need to talk my husband into visiting DLP!

YAY I'm so glad you're back and posting your trip report! I hope you had a fantastic time, and I can't wait to read more!

Welcome back:banana: , it sounds you guys had a great trip and thanks for sharing your report! I am really enjoying it and love the fact that you post so many pics!:surfweb: Waiting for MGM Studios installment... Wow, it really was a long journey to get to Orlando:eek: I know how tired one feels after the long flights and the jetlag... hope you felt fresh the next day for the Studios!
