Day 6, May 10: Animal Kingdom
After the usual getting up, taking a shower and eating a sandwich in our room, we got in our car around 8.30. Today was Animal Kingdom day!
Although I'm not really a big fan of animals in captivity (I don't like zoos, for instance), I was looking forward to this visit! From what I had seen, Animal Kingdom was a very nice themed park, which is something I do like.
We arrived at Animal Kingdom before nine and parked our car very close to the entrance. When we entered the park, we were just in time for the official park opening.
When the ropes dropped, we walked straight to Expedition Everest. I had heard so much about it and was dying to try it. When we got there (AK needs to update the sign posts, Expedition Everest isn't on them!) there were just a few people in front of us and we got in line. We picked up a fastpass on our way.
We were in the ride withing 5 minutes and really, really liked it! What a great themed ride

Fun and thrill in one ride!
We decided to go a second time because it was still a walk on when we got out. We took some pictures of the things you see when you go in the standby line, really cool!
After riding EE twice, we decided to try something else and to come back later for our fastpass time.
We went to Kali River Rapids. The sign said the waiting time was 60 minutes, but a friendly castmember told us that wasn't true, they had just opened the attraction.
And it turned out to be a walk on too. Not just that, we were also the only two people in our raft! That was pretty funny.
Gerbert got really wet, but we liked it so much that we wanted to ride again. There was still no line when we got back, so we got to stay in our seats. We were joined by two women, who were in ponchos, but still got really wet.
We decided we were wet enough now, and walked back to Expedition Everest to use our fastpasses. We walked by some monkeys on the way. I love monkeys, so we stopped to look for a while and then walked to EE. The fastpass line is a lot shorter, but there still wasn't a big line, so they weren't really usefull. But the third time was still pretty great!
We got some pictures of Expedition Everest when we got out.
We left the beautiful themed Asia and walked to the terrible looking Dinoland USA. It looked like a fair and we didn't really like it. We tried the Primeval Whirl, but didn't like it at all. It's too shaky! We skipped the other kiddie attractions and went to Dinosaur.
That was a big surprise for us. We really liked this one! It was so cool!
After riding Dinosaur, we saw it was 11.00 and we decided to get in line for the Nemo musical, which I really wanted to see. The line was growing pretty fast. This was one popular musical!
We got great seats in the middle of the back section. And wow, I really enjoyed this musical. It was excellent! The puppets, music, actors...everything! I immediately decided I would see this one again when we got back to AK next week!
Still impressed with the Nemo musical, we got a bite to eat at the Restaurantosaurus, which was a McDonalds in Disney style.
I love the McDonalds nuggets, so I got a nuggets menu, which was exactly as expected

I liked the special Disney design fries-cups.
After eating, we walked to the 3D show It's tough to be a bug. We saw a Disney character meeting point on our way there and got our pictures taken with Pooh, Tigger and my favourite, Eeyore!
We saw It's tough to be a bug and loved it. It was quite scary for kids though, we heard a lot of screaming and crying. We especially liked the part where they let the bugs leave the theater first!
After this, we headed to Africa, to ride Kilimanjaro Safari. We got in what later turned out to be the longest wait during our whole stay, and waited for 40 minutes. But it was worth it, we really liked the safari! We saw a lot of animals, like these elephants.
After the safari, we took the train to Rafiki's planet watch, but we did't really find anything we liked there, so we took a train back and walked over to Camp Minnie and Mickey to see the Lion King show.
On our way there, we walked past Lilo and Stitch, and I had my picture taken with them.
After the picture, we got to the Lion King show. There weren't many people there, maybe because we were there during the parade?
The show was great, but we liked the Nemo show better. I liked all the acrobatics, but missed the Lion King story, like the musical in Paris, who tells the story.
It was around 5.15 when the show finished and because the park was closing at 6, we decided to walk to the exit. We had seen everything we wanted and we would definately come back to do some things again!
As a surprise, there were a lot of Disney characters at the exit, so we got our pictures taken with Minnie, Donald and king Louie from Jungle Book!
We drove to Downtown Disney. We felt like seeing a movie and went to the AMC to see what was playing. We decided to buy tickets for the 3D version of "Meet the Robinsons", which was playing in an hour or so.
We crossed the street and ate a great pizza at Wolfgang Puck Express.
We had some time before the movie and visited the Virgin Megastore. I saw some great Grey's Anatomy (my favourite tv show!) shirts, but they were too small..
The movie was very entertaining and it was nice to see it in 3D. It was really quiet in the movie theater.
After this movie, we went back to the hotel and went to bed instantly, because it had been a long, but very nice day. Animal Kingdom is great!
