The Duggars family TV show premieres this Sat.

I read that TLC is sending the Duggars to Disneyland and to a Western dude ranch. That will be a great experience for the family.

I agree! I think that it's kinda neat that they are getting some freebies, because even though they have chosen this lifestyle, they are OBVIOUSLY not trying to live above their means- I saw plenty of generic items, and Michelle mentioned during the show that they bought everything in the kitchen (stove, commercial dishwasher) 2nd hand. They shop at Aldi's. So, it's not like they have been peddling for items all along.

And really, it's not much different than the people who use fertility treatments, find themselves knocked up with 6 or 8 babies, and then Huggies donates diapers, Chevy donates a Van, etc.

Chobie--maybe your posts on here are coming off more strongly than you intend. It's just that it seems that everytime someone else comes on the thread supporting the Duggars in anyway, you seem to have a problem with it. But then you go on to say you are not judging them. That's cool if that is how you feel, but it does come off sounding like you are. Why are you so passionate about how much you don't agree with these people's choices?

BTW all, the show is on again on Sunday, noon central, 1:00 eastern and pacific.

I did not say I was not judging them on. I am judging them based on their putting themselves on TV.

What I did say is I think the people that say they are only being judged because they are conservative Christians are being disingenuous. What really got me going on this thread was people trying to turn this into a Christian and/or Conservative bashing thing when it was not. And people insisting that those of us who think they are creepy are calling them abusive when no one has.

As far as my posts coming off strong -- that is how I intend them. I strongly beleive they are doing a disserve to their children and have a right to do a disservice to their children. And I strongly beleive that this has nothing to do with their religious or conservative beliefs.

Maybe we should just get back to discussing perpendicular tatertots?

Chobie--I understand what you are saying. Thanks for the explanation.

Gotta go make some TaterTot casserole for dinner now. (I refuse to use the word Hotdish. I don't care if I have lived in MN for 18 years!!)

So, no one has any idea what God wants for other people? Does mean that no one knows if God doesn't want women to have abortions, or gays to get married, or children to pray in public schools?

And God doesn't want women to have fertility treatment?

And when you say you have no idea what God wants unless you are "very religious" do you mean very religious in ANY religion? Or do only some very religious people from some very select religions know what God wants?

Thats right! No one knows what God wants for other people lives. Abortions, gay marriage, and school prayer are public issues, not personal family issues.

As for being very religious to know what God wants, I was referring to people who are anti-religion of all kind and then seem to want to use what they think "God's" opinions would be to make an arguement. I think if you are Christian, you know what Jesus wants for you, if you are muslim, you know what Allah wants, ect.

I also don't think this is a political/religion thing. I think people are bashing the family because they are traditional and are having what society thinks is too many children. I have read WAY to many threads about population control and how selfish people with big families are. Not to mention how agrivated people on the board get with traditional gender roles. :rolleyes2

I think it's selfish to have big families with no money. I have no beef at all with the Duggars. They have an abundance of whatever they need, and I honestly think that Michele Duggar is a rather cute person (I would last about one day before committing justifiable homicide of Jim Bob, so I give her credit for finding a person who is a good match for her). I do think that five people to a bedroom with minimal wage potential is a recipe for disaster. A social worker I once met had a hilarious quote about this: "They're like the Titanic and they're taking on passengers!"

I have made it only to page 21 so far but I didn't see this comment....all those boys had fairly different J names but one of the girls names was Joy-Anna and the baby was Johanna.....how the heck you keeping those straight? :rotfl2:
It seemed to me the boys got more individualized attention......hmmm

The Duggars have more than five to a bedroom and you said they have an abundance of what they need, so who exactly are you referring to with this particular comment. I may have missed something. :confused3

I'm watching it now.

HOLY CRAP!!! FOUR washers and FOUR driers and a dishwasher that do a load in THREE minutes!!

The one little girl said if "Momma" ever gets pregnant again she hopes it's TWIN girls!! Oy vey!!

I'm sorry and I *DO* mean to be judgmental (I don't care), those people are KOOKS!

I bet before all is said and done they have a few more kids. KOOKS!!!

I can picture that scene "Every **** is sacred" from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.
