Oh my God! I really wish the room would stop spinning around. My head- ACK! Oh yes...a massage, Jay... pleeeease!! Serious brain freeze happening over here.
rolleyes.gif
You wouldn't believe the headache I have! :( I'm crawling off to bed in a minute, but had to stop and check in on everybody, and I have to say I am SO glad I did!!! JODIE!! DisCon is a definite maybe?!?! :bounce: YESSSS!!!! :bounce: I LOVE IT!!! :teeth:

I'll check in tomorrow AM and make my pathetic attempt to catch up, but did have to say one more little thank you. ;)

Ummmm... Jay? Oh my! What can I say?! Seriously huge hugs and kisses to you for THE picture. :p That is just soooo much nicer to look at then those countless pages of text spouting endless stats, rules, regulations, blah blah blah. If anyone happens to accidentally run across another picture or two, I'll be finishing up the last 9 page unit and taking the final in the morning and am sure I'll be needing a little break now and then. :teeth:

Ok guys, I'm toast for the night... I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Ah.. I love an empty thread...

Jay let me repeat Kim's sentiments..thanks for THAT pic.. I am ROFLMBO...what a COMPROMISING picture...

Kim...tsktsk. Were there any cute guys at traffic school?

Elaine-that BIL is just  that he doesn't have a rockin' gal like you and that he has to pick through leftovers. ;)

Is Michele's DD ok-I missed that :( And I also missed WHY Jennifer's fingers are sticky...do I want to know?

Betty, I half caught McCain singing-I am such a happy girl that I caught that-it was horrible and hilarious!:( :teeth: Karryn, I agree with you, I love betty's name too. Bette is also nice, very sophisticated looking.

Bonnie's cooking! Excellent-glad to know rumors of another strike were unfounded.

And the best news-I hate you Jodie;)-Jodie may go to DISCON!!!!YAYbooYAYboooYAY! I'm torn :teeth:. And I think you've got a smart answer for your kids...thinking of you and yours.

SHerry and Marilyn-MIA?

As for me-just finished my thesis proposal, last paragraph took me 3 hours (prob. cause of all the DIS breaks) and tomorrow, Monday, I will get up, go to the gym, then go applepicking and a little hike to see the foliage. I'd take pics but did I mention we lost our digital camera in San Fran last week-duh on us.

And all you Great Lakes folks are happily chitchatting about road trips-is no one else in the chilly hostile NorthEast? :( :)

See you tomorrow night-I think this may be my LONGEST post at the LAST WORD!

Ok all, I posted an update on page 105, I think. Go back and read it. Bonnie, we must have posted at the same time, because yes, I did get them.

Well, I got a call at 10:22 last night to sub, so this is a quick hello!

Off to get the girls up. Talk to you later!

GOOD MORNING!!

Good Morning!
Don't have time to read what all I missed right now! Just wanted to say HEY!

Good morning everyone!!!! Just getting my oldest ready for school and me ready for work but I had to stop in and say HI!!!!

Good morning all.

Michele, I hope your day goes well.

The Booger Story by bfeller

One of the hardest substitute positions for me is with the developmentally delayed, severe physical handicaps, severe behavior, and downs syndrome. For one I do not feel properly trained to handle all the situations that may come up and the mommy comes out in me and at times I just want to sit and cry because these are children whose futures are so limited. I am not trained to be able to pick up some of them that are strapped into their chairs to be able to pick them up and help them in the bathroom and some can not communicate, they may use sign language (I don't know it) and some do not.

We have a down syndrome boy in the 7th grade that seems to have a chip on his shoulder quite a bit. On this day, he came into the class in a bad mood and started pushing all the other kids around. He was not a happy camper. There were 8-9 children in the room and they are included in classes whenever possible. There were also 3-4 aids in there to help me out. But why am I in charge when the aids know better what is going on. I usually feel very useless. On this particular day, Mike was kicking his shoe off. Literally, it would go flying off his foot over heads and land. Then he would demand that one of us would put the shoe back on him. At first the aids and I complied because he was having such a bad day. But after the 5th time we started to tell him no. We explained that this is not appropriate behavior for school and that he would not be kicking his shoe off again. The day goes on and he is acting out with everybody. Incidently, he kicked the shoe off at lunch and it went flying across the cafetorium and hit someone in the head. He was talked to be assistant principal. Somehow, near the middle of the day, I am left alone with Mike. This shouldn't have happened but I think the aids had had enough. I was working with him and making no progress. He kicked his shoe off and demanded it put back on. I said no that he was responsible to put his shoe on and that it was not appropriate behavior. The aid walked in at one point and reminded him that one more write up in his plan book would get him a detention or visit with the principal. OK, so now I realize that this is a habit with Mike and there has been a problem with behavior in the past. Again I am left alone. We are working on English grammar. He is doing quite well because he has a high level of funchtion. Then he stops and kicks his other shoe off. I sit there and tell him NO. Then he picks a booger out of his nose and flings it at me. (don't know whether to laugh or cry) I now explain that this was going over the line and would be reported. (you have to realize that we have used every trick to get him to behave but at this point he is acting out) He gets mad and stands up and grabs me (he is bigger than me) and tells me he is taking me to the office to see the principal. So I figure we may end up there eventually, so I might as well go with him. (Also, I don't have any idea if this kid who has been hitting, shoving and flinging shoes has a physical history and just don't want to find out) Long story short the principal was not happy with Mike. I make history as the only sub that has been escorted to the principal by a student. His mother was called not because of this incident alone but because of his history. And the BOOGERING was the last straw and the physical handling of a sub. I made a decision that day not to take any more assignments there because I felt so awkward. I am not comfortable handling this situation. Of course I have ended up in there since then because the lead teacher for these kids really likes me and goes in and will change my assignment at school. I did finally talk to assistant principal in private and let her know that I was not comfortable subbing in that class.

So this is my experience for getting boogered. It was not pleasant. Also, I hope that I have not offended anyone who may have a child that is in this situation. I would never want to hurt anyone's feelings. I just am not trained to be in this position.

The End.

Morning everyone. Well, today's the day. I get to take my PC in to have them install the rest of that software package. But I'll still have the problem of trying to get the programs to run. :( They brought our database back up this morning & less than an hour later, I couldn't get in. Now I'm at square one. Can't work. Can't do anything till midnight. Maybe not even then. Oye.....

Betty, that's some story! I don't blame you for rethinking what classes you sub. DW worked as a sub for a while, but never experienced anything like that!

lilboo, I'm glad you enjoyed the pic. We always see the action shots or the fancy posing shots. But we never see the graceful side of our favorite celebs. I figure this is a way to show off the graceful side of speedskating to all the ladies. ;)

Kim, I'm glad you like the pic. I had a feeling you would. :teeth: I'll take all the hugs and kisses I can get. :) BTW, did I mention how much I love being the only guy on this thread? :teeth:

Good morning/afternoon everyone! Well, I doubt there's any way I'll ever actually get caught up with you all (my Ya Ya post count must be looking pretty sad these days) but here goes my best shot!

BTW, did I mention how much I love being the only guy on this thread?
...and we love having you here too, Jay. ;)

Betty, All I can say is, Thank God that's never happened to me while subbing!! Like you, I wouldn't be subbing in that class again any time soon.

Well, Jeannie... unless you count the...uh, pictures on my screen saver, :teeth: I'd have to say that, no there were no cute guys at traffic school. I'm doing it online. :p Which brings me to the next thing I wanted to say... don't laugh at my sweetie!!! :p This picture just proves he looks gooooood no matter what he's doing. ;)

Ummm... about looking like our clipart... does this mean I look like Timon, Boo Boo or Apolo to ya'll??

Bonnie, Even a icky ole' frog would be cute in a Santa suit!! :p As far as bribing Elaine is concerned... pics of Boo Boo and green M&M's usually do the trick. But, as she said, she really wouldn't even need a bribe if it means she gets to help someone torture me. I suppose you could also bribe half the people on this thread for my address now that I think about it. LOL!

Betty, I have to do traffic school because I was a baaaad girl in my WC. :o I was stopped for going over the speed limit just an eentsy weentsy bit. Oh, and Michele? I was the sweetest little thing ya ever did see, and he gave me a ticket anyway. :( I even batted the big brown eyes and everything...no dice. Not only that, but I showed my innocence and naivete when having to ask him how I went about taking care of this mean nasty ole' ticket because I'd never had one before. Still no dice. The guy was a rock. Drats.

Betty! Awww.... poor Teddy the turtle!! Send him to me!!! I love turtles!! :p

Elaine!!! Gacky! That was mean! *Kim scrolls VERY quickly past icky frog picture* SHUDDER!!

Okay, so how many names have I gotten wrong so far? Seems to be the latest trend around here. So Jay... are you getting the names yet or are we all turning into one big Ya Ya blur? :p

Elaine, Your BIL sounds like a seriously insecure individual.... what a weener.

Names? Do we like our names... who asked that one? Mine is dull. DULL DULL DULL! Kimmy is ok, and Kimberly is fine, but Kim, is BORING. I would've rather had the name I was supposed to have had, but Mom chickened out when her Mom freaked over the name. It was supposed to be Colby. *Sigh* Instead, I get stuck with Kimberly/Kim.

Michele, How is Regan today? I do hope you're having a good day of subbing too. :)

Jodie, Oh I feel awful! When is/was your birthday? It was probably mentioned on here a thousand times and I totally spaced it. :( Concerning the schools closing...well, you already know my feelings on that one. :) I do hope you and the kids are having a good day together. Give them a big YA YA hug for us, okay?

Well, I have one more unit and then the final to take... hopefully I'll get to check in with you again soon. :)

Afternoon all! Just got back from the farm. Emily's class went to the farm to feed tha animals, hay ride and pumpkin patch. Very fun, but we adults lost track of time and by the time we were loading them back up in the cars they were falling apart fast. Past their lunch time, poor kids. I have just a second before I have to put the last of my GS meeting supplies together and make the scouts a snack. Don't even have time to check out the rest of the cb :(

Jodie, how are the kids doing? how about you? I'm wondering if you took a day trip or something. Hope whatever it was it was not too stressful.

Wow Betty, not a good boggering story :( But I guess most aren't

Jay, I'm so frustrated for you!!! The firm that was writing the code for the company that my dh was hired to take over, restaff and clean up after, has been dragging thier feet and not making drops when they are suppose to. He too sits around waiting for others to GET THIER ACT TOGETHER!!

Hey and hello to the rest of you that are off to work. I hope your days are going well.

Off to put together some space experiments....one is examining the inside of a candy bar....Which center do you think they will like best? :teeth:

YOU DIDN'T MISS IT YET!!!!! I know when it is!! and I'm gonna beat you to the birthday board too!!!! :teeth:

Hey Kim...dh didn't transfer my favorites over to this computer....can I pretty please have the link to the smiley site?

Oh, yeah and I keep forgetting to give Jay a big hug :) Wanna keep our man happy ;)

Kim's just trying to get her post count up. ;)

Thanks for the hug Jennifer. :) I feel better now. You know, I almost feel like I'm in a little harem here. :teeth: Must keep all other men out..... :teeth:

LOL!!! No fighting amongst the Ya Ya's ladies!!! Jennifer, I don't remember telling my birthday date.....hmmmm.....maybe, but it's foggie...that's what happens when 45 looms!!! Kim...it's this coming Friday. Doing anything special you ask? well let's see....Driving Cotillion carpool, going to Pumpkin lighting at the elementary school (if it's not cancelled!), going to the book fair and helping the Cubs sell pizza at Pumpkin Lighting....ahhhh...nothin like a relaxing day!!:p

I have been glued to the TV all day. I just turned it off after the 1:00 news conference. If any of you wonder what Richmond looks like, just tune in to any news chanell...been on all day!! How weird this all is!! Connie Chung and Katie Couric are here...shoot...the BBC is here!!!! In case you don't know, the police converged this morning at 8am on a white van parked at a pay phone at an Exxon station here in Richmond. They have 2 people in custody but nobody is saying that it's the sniper. They have confirmed the shooting in Ashland was the work of the sniper though. A lady here in town saw this van parked in a school parking lot this morning at 7am. She was driving her child to school since she had not gotten word of the closings. She called 911 to report this and that the van pulled out of the parking lot going East. Local channels are saying that this note the sniper left at the scene in Ashland had a phone number as well as some very specific threats. The leap you cn make here is that he threatened the local schools and that caused the "about face" the school superintendants made at 8pm last night. Unless assured that these men in custody are indeed the snipers, schools are likely to be closed here tomorrow as well. The superintendants will make that call after a 4pm conference call. The high school where this van was parked this morning is right on I95 and he was parked there at the time students would normally have been arriving to school. My question is why would he be parked right in the OPEN?? And how could this guy, who has been so smart about things, get caught at a pay phone, the number of which he had supplied to the police? Sounds fishy.

Soooo..we have enjoyed a nice rainy day indoors feeling more like we are in a dream than real life. I keep saying this...this is sooooo weird!

Kim....just in the planning stages for dis-con so I have not decided yet. You know that the big cotillion dance is the last Friday of dis-con and I hate to miss that. Caitlin needs her Mom here to help her get ready. I am very torn. When will you be there? I think I have Elaine's dates down and everybody else is in Orlando right?

Betty...nasty boogering story. That must have been very frightening. If you sub there again I would be darn sure they did not leave you alone again. Isn't it strange for a Down's child to be violent? I always thought those children had the very sweetest of dipositions...guess there is an exception to every rule.

Have fun at your meeting Jennifer!! Sounds like fun! My assistant leader and I took advantage of our "snow day" to plan our make-up meeting for Sunday. We need to get busy on our bronze award!!

HI JAY!!!! I think Jay has me on ignore!! He hasn't spoken to me in days!!! ****Dream sulks off the screen to go and do some laundry****

Well, I am back from subbing. Pretty good day in all. Nothing like your story, Betty. That is just awful! Really pushes the limits of reasonable and acceptable behavior in school.

Both DD were able to go to school today! Yes! But, I am off to pick them up.

Oh, Kim--maybe you should have tried crying? Is your car red by any chance? But then again, how fast were you driving? Did you pass your course?

Sherry I got your pm about that other show we watch. I will pm you back when I have some more time!

Be back in a bit!
