Okay, who started this about the chocolate chip cookies? I'll have you know that I had to go out and buy the stuff to make chocolate chip and M&M cookies, and it's all your fault!

I'm being a busy Sunday cook. I like to cook lots on Sunday, so I don't have to cook so much during the week. I like to cook, but I hate to come home from work and try to throw something decent together.

Kimmie, I don't see Dream around, so I'll break out the blender and make a big batch of getkimthruthedriversrehabschoolquick smoothies. These include strawberries, bananas, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate shavings and whipped cream on top. Will they do?

Dream, I checked out where you live on the map. Way too close to Ashland. Lots of hugs and keeping you in my prayers headed your way.

Hehehehe...that was me! I made some last night and passed them around. Can I have some of yours when they come out of the oven?

Alas...I'm on Emily's computer.....so sad. I don't like her keyboard at all. Kinda sticky.

Now if I could just get dh to move the computer to my desk. Sitting at this Fisher Price table for 2 weeks will kill my back.

Bonnie, I wish I were a sunday cook. Someday I'll ask you what you cook and store.

Hey Caren, (sorry couldn't resist) What do you want to play?

Anyone heard from Michele lately? I'm worried about her daughter. How they were able to see someone today.

I'll hold Kim's smoothie for her while she's working :teeth:

Evening everyone! I am sitting here all happy now that I got the dreaded weekly call to the in-laws out of the way. Oh did I tell you all what my BIL did earlier this week during a phone call? If I didn't you all will laugh when you hear it!

I got a down throw today and my cat has decided that it is hers. So what I will do in the next day or so is go out and find a very cheap pillow and find a nice flannel pillow case (or get fabric that they'd love) and make a bed for them out of that. Such mooches my babies are.

So are there any cookies left? :teeth:

Jennifer,
today it is chicken and noodles and vegetable chowder. That should get us through at least 4-5 days. It is easier in the winter. In the summer, we eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruit at my house. In the winter, I make a lot of things like vegetable soup, chili, spaghetti, beef stew, chicken and wild rice casserole, etc. Lots of things that are better after they have sat a day or two. I'm thinking about making some mac and cheese for me. The real stuff. My family likes the fake stuff.

And Jennifer, it was kind of tough to call you from Milan when I didn't have your number! You weren't around here when I was looking for you Saturday morning when I finally made the decision to go ahead and go to Frankenmuth. I never left my house till around 10, and didn't make it to Bronner's until after 1. You know, that would be a good road trip for all of us. Betty, Sherry, and Elaine could meet at my house, and then we could head for Frankenmuth and Birch Run, picking Jennifer up along the way.

Of course you may all have cookies! I have plenty left!

 Where's Jay? I hope we didn't scare him off!

I may head to bed early tonight, so if I'm not back soon, g'night all.

sniff, sniff, sniff Thanks Bonnie. I'll hang on to this, but I may refer to you all by user names. Otherwise I may still get confused. I feel much better now. :)

Karen, thank you for letting me join you in the names corner. :) Thanks for keeping me company! :)

Okay, I have a good one. My church is planning a thing for Halloween called "Trunk or Treat." Everyone gathers in the parking lot, opens their trunks (or hatchbacks for vans/SUVs) and the kids pass by to get their candy. Well, in our newsletter a few weeks ago, they detailed the plans, saying to hand out "candy, treats, gun, blah, blah, blah...." This happened before the sniper shootings began.. Seems as tho someone meant to type GUM, but actually typed GUN instead!! Since then, they've corrected the typo. I bet they got a bunch of phone calls to straighten them out!!

More cookies? May I have one please, Bonnie? :)

Um, Jennifer... the keyboard is sticky? That isn't really a good sign, you know. Ick....

Kim. Hey Kim! Kiiiimmmmmmm!!!! Snap out of it!!! I'm sure your mind has turned to traffic school mush after 8 hours of that. Aaack!!! I hope you're able to recover from that kind of intense studying. Hey, I know... here's a pic to snap you back to normal:

:teeth: You're welcome. :teeth:

I was just looking back on this thread & found a few treasures. Like the Natalie and Christie pics. Ahhh... Sets my heart a-fluttering. :) And this:
10 minutes to class and I'm naked and dripping wet-(just out of the shower, people, come on!)
Gotta run, crazies!
It *still* brings to mind an image of Jennifer. Naked, wet and running.

Sounds like subscription to a TV station is required for this one.

After the day I have had today I would be willing to play almost anything tonight. Geesh. I never saw one room take three hours and mess up a house like that one did. The kids have been warned. It doesnt get put away the first time I ask and it gets thrown away. We also rebunked their beds so they have more room in their bedroom. Looks pretty nice in there if I must say so myself.

Bonnie my family is just like yours. I love the REAL mac and cheese they they love the chemicals in a box. I cant touch that stuff with a ten foot pole.

Im sorry Betty but the vision of you sitting at this little tiny Fisher Price desk with your fingers sticking to the keyboard has me giggling.

Im worried about Michele's daughter too. I hope she checks in with us soon.

This is one reason why I wish I could cook for more than two people. It gets really hard to cook "real" food for just one since getting the portions down right is so hard. I only make things like that when I know my family/friends will be over. Otherwise simple dinners of meat & rice work best for the two of us. I must ask though, I lost a good recipe for mac & cheese... do either of you have one you'd like to share? I prefer creamy not too sharp of cheddar-y tasting :)

Michele... where are you??? I hope all is okay :)

Oh Karin, Carin, Sharon, Maron, oh yes I mean Karen, it is Jennifer sitting at the Fisher Price table, not me. LOL!!!!! Anyway, I don't mind being mistaken for Jennifer, she is such a great person. Actually, my laptop is on an oak roll top desk. So where does everybody do their DISing. I am in DH's home office. We have two full size desks in here and one little built in that Allison uses. We keep saying that we are going to make our piano room a girl's office but just haven't moved all the furniture. It also means that Steve would have to network two computers in another room. We have five computers currently networked in the house. What can I say, I live with a computer nerd.

I had a great time at nephew's house. He has such neat toys. Love the Leap Pad stuff. I should go over more often to play.

Glad Elaine is feeling better. I remember the days of cooking for two. It was always so hard. Love the little story about getting a pillow for the kitty. They are so spoiled. I don't remember a BIL story so please tell.

Hey...I am here. I stayed home this morning until I had to go teach sunday school. Regan stayed home with daddy, and then they picked me up and we went to inlaws for supper then back to church for Rachel to sing. Then home as soon as she was done. Got an exciting phone call that I was needed to sub, but then got the call back that they found someone else. Oh well, more time to dis....

Rachel is all better, she was the first one sick. Then Regan got the fever (she was the one who scared the crap out of dh and I this morning). She acted much better than Rachel, eating and more alert. I think her ears were just hurting because of the fever. We kept her home (except to see ds sing at choir) all day, so hopefully she will be up for school tomorrow.

Jay...feel free to vent away...I feel bad that you are having these problems. It is good that your boss is understanding.

Kim, don't you know not to make the policeman mad? I have it on very good authority that if you are nice to the policeman and not a smark aleck that you can get out of a ticket!;) Anywho, hope you are enjoying your class. Let us know if you learn anything new.

Mmmm......all this food talk, macaroni and cheese, stew, chili, makes me hungry. Hey can I have that wild rice recipe? That sounds real YUMMY!! Could you pm it to me, pretty please?

Hey I have run out of milk! But the HC sounds much better. No schnapps for me though either. You know how many calories alcohol has! Yeah, calories that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Oh, wait! I see smoothies....Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...........

Karen, how did you "rebunk" their beds? Were they already BB that you broke down? DD's have the land's end beds and my dh thinks he can make them bunks. Not that I doubt his capabilities, he is very handy! But...bunk beds scare me!

Bonnie, glad you got home ok. Please send me recipies! I just saw the chowder one too. Pretty please with sugar on top?:)

Jennifer...how long before you get your computer back? Sticky keyboard huh? Ick...;) I'm sorry we cant come up with any good names for you!

Jodie, I am glad your law enforcement is not telling the media jack. IMHO, the press is making all this worse. And yes, you need to continue to vent to us, otherwise your pm box will be full unlike mine. I am proud of your kids and even prouder of you. You are a great mom. ((((HUGS)))) and prayers, my friend.

Ok, I am off to lurk around for a few. I will check back before I hit the hay.

Elaine, you wouldn't like my recipe then. It isn't creamy and involves very sharp cheddar cheese.

The nice thing about the chili and spaghetti, etc. is that you can make big batches and freeze it in smaller portions. Then you could have such things for just one or two people.

I DIS in my "computer room" at my computer desk. It truly is my room. Lots of artifacts and reminders of the Eastern Shore of Md. (baskets of sea shells, lighthouses, and pictures of the beach and the ocean) along with a few Disney things. Has my hope chest and book case in here along with a wooden lateral file for the bills, etc. The room is about 8x11 feet, and painted a beautiful pale blue. It is away from the TV, stereo, etc and I am surrounded by my plants and two big bay windows. I can look out the window beside me and see the fish pond and garden I put in this summer. I could live in this room.

Um, Jennifer... the keyboard is sticky? That isn't really a good sign, you know. Ick....

Yeah well when you're sharing a computer with a 4 yar old...you take what you can get! Give ya one guess WHY she has her own computer????!!!

It *still* brings to mind an image of Jennifer. Naked, wet and running.

Now you're in trouble boy!!!! THAT WAS JEANNIE!!!! She's the naked dripping wet chick!!!! I'm not sure we can be friends anymore.....now that you think of me that way......

I've got more cookies....help yourselves....**jennifer walks to the middle of the screen and lays out a platter of fresh warm cookies**** Except you Jay, you're on my list!!!!

Bonnie, we must have just missed each other on line yesterday. Too Bad. But maybe we can work up some sort of meet there before the holidays :)

Cute kitty story Elaine...No I haven't heard the BIL story yet....do tell!

Im sorry Betty but the vision of you sitting at this little tiny Fisher Price desk with your fingers sticking to the keyboard has me giggling.

Yeah, that's me!!! Actually I moved the computer after Emily went to bed. Not much better. I have a very small desk in my "knitting room" (named by my children) and the monitor takes up the entire top of the desk! I have to pull the drawer out to prop up the keyboard and pull a side table over for the mouse  and it's still sticky:o

Hey Betty, You have us beat...we only have 4 computers networked in our house. Yeah...livin' with a computer nerd has it's advantages!!!!

I usually dis from my knitting room. When dh was off work for 6 months I painted and decorated 8 rooms in our house. The BEST is my knitting room!!! It's purple and blue with a chair rail all the way around, a shelf with my mystery book collection, scads of knitting stuff for the kitties to get into and a large shelf with my disney snowglobes on it. plus a couch with a throw that I made that inspired the room colors.

Evening Dorks!!
Betty, glad you had fun playing with the little ones toys!
;)

Jennifer....better take some Advil just in anticipation of the back aches you are gonna have sitting at that table!!!:p

Elaine! Love the story of the down blanket and your kitty!!! Sounds like my rotten pets. I have friends who say if they are down on their luck they are going to come and be my pet!!! Hope you get that pillow done soon so you cn have your blanket back!!

Kim!!! Do you have to do that thing all at once?? I bet your brain is fried!!! Lucy, thanks for making Kim the smoothie...she needs it!!

Jay! Stop pouting in the corner and take it like a man!!!;)

Still nothing from Michele?:( Hope she checks in soon!

Betty, dh and I each have a desk in our bedroom where we have our computers. My desk snuggles up to the window like a window seat sort of so I can dis and watch the kids playing at the same time. Of course I know my neighbors must laugh at the amount of time I spend sitting here!!! When I am not on my laptop I use my desk for scrapbooking.

Spent the evening with the in-laws. They had a birthday cake for me and all the kids sang. We forbade the kids (5 cousins) to blow out our candles long ago....too much ,um, well....spraying went on! I know ...ewwww! The in-laws gave me a new cordless phone which is great since my old one has a perpetual hum in it that drives me nuts!!! They had 4 candles...one for each decade...and one more candle chopped in half! Everybody is a comedian! The kids thought that was really funny...they will get theirs one day!!:p

Gotta catch the 10:00 local news. All schools here will be locked down tomorrow "with a strong police presence" through the day. We figured they would do that but it is now official. The kids are nervous. DS went to bed with a tummy ache...I stayed with him till he fell asleep. DD...my little analyst...had a million questions at bedtime...I knew she would. She has said little all day so I knew the wheels were turning. She is full of worries and concerns, some of which, sadly, I cannot take away. This just sucks!! Sorry. Tomorrow will be bad for all around here. Please keep praying that they catch this guy soon. Putting these kids on that bus in the morning will definately be one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Trying to be strong and positive.

Hope everybody has a wonderful night! See ya'll tomorrow!!

Acccck I cant get anything straight today. Must be dust on the brain from the kids room ROFL. The stupid thing is I looked to see who was who and I still typed Betty!!!

It is now 9:44 PM and my two are STILL up. They refuse to go to sleep! We have had four bathroom trips, six kisses, five HES BUGGING ME's, and four I NEED A DRINKS. Wait.....what do I hear but silence....could it be??? Maybe they fell asleep after I threatened their Yugio cards and the youngest with time out??? Oh shoot I hear them talking. I knew it was too good to last.

Let me see if I can find my recipe for mac and cheese. I have a crockpot version that came out really nicely last time I made it.

Well, Jay, if you'd rather imagine Jennifer that way that's fine by me...:teeth:, but boy, you don't know what you're missing, bud. :D

I've got some schoolwork that's makin' mincemeat out of me..will catch up later! BYE!

Hey. I just posted on that gun control thread. Please don't flame me!

Thanks, I got the recipes Bonnie. They sound yummy!

Well, I am off to bed before I get myself in more trouble.

Night all!!

Michele, did you get the recipes? They are in your PM mailbox.

No fair, Jennifer is double posting again! How will I ever catch up if she keeps double posting????

I need to go to bed. :p

Hey gang! Just had to say hi to Michele...glad your dd is feeling better!!

Also had to vent....you said it's ok? They have closed the schools here tomorrow....ALL of them!!! The baseball game is on so the 10:00 news is delayed but the thingy was running along the bottom of the screen announcing the closings!!! OK NOW what do I tell the kids I just spent an hour convincing their schools are safe?!?!? Any ideas welcome!! How about this? They closed the schools tomorrow so that they have a little more time to work out the details of the lockdown? Geez...this is so surreal.

Breathe....breathe....deep cleansing breaths....

OK what we need here is distraction...yeah...that's it! OK you dis-con ladies, are you ready for this. I talked to dh and kids this evening about discon and they said...GO!!!! Now before you get too excited I have LOTS of details to work out before I can even consider it!! How much notice do I need to give if I am not "official"? Where are you all staying? I guess the biggest concern is this sniper mess. If this is not resolved there is no way I can go, so knowing how last minute I can be with this is pretty important. Ya never know what a day will bring do ya?:p

Well I need to get to bed soon, so I'll make the story about my BIL quick :)

He called on the 17th to wish us a Happy Anniversary. For those of you paying attention our anniversary was on the 7th... no big deal as I am not one who puts too much on dates like that. So he calls from a restaurant to say all that to us and he happens to be there with an ex of Luis' (they dated like 2 weeks and then decided they were better as friends so you can't put much on that). So he is there bragging up how he is with an ex of Luis' and then he goes into how he has met up with two others here and there. He also on the phone to Luis brought up the one girl that he "stole" from Luis. Then tonight while talking to the in-laws, Luis' brother more or less had told his parents that he was on the phone and he knew he was getting me upset (because I was on the other line... which I wasn't) so he kept talking about that. Okay does that make sense? My BIL calls to wish us a happy anniversary only to talk about Luis' ex girlfriends and to try and get me mad (which he didn't by the way). After he had hung up, Luis and I had looked at each other and said, "He's a dork!" I hope I expained it right but my goodness... how pathetic can one be??
