I just posted to a onsite vs offsite thread and it got me wondering:

Does the DLH ever offer "hard to pass up" deals??

Whats the best standard room rate you've seen?

Sometimes Disney sends out pincodes for 30-40 percent off room rates. They also had a deal going--5 nights for the price of 3. So those are pretty good deals. Getting a pincode can be tricky. It is sent to certain people, and there is often no rhyme or reason to it. I think if you sign in to the Disney website and "save" offers (go in, check out what it would cost to stay at a resort hotel for your next trip--then click "save this offer"). You can do this without paying for anything or risking any money--it basically just saves the offer for a number of days. I think this is the way I got a pincode one time--because the day after I did this I got one! These pincodes come out all around the same time, so you will see people here saying they got one, and then you should go check your inbox for one. So right now I don't think there is a pincode going around, but eventually there will be (probably after the holidays). This isn't a coupon code that can be used by anyone--you have a pincode that is tied to your email address, so it can't be shared.

The only way I have saved a good amount was last summer. I planned a trip with my girls--and only had a few weeks to make arrangements before our travel. I think it was like 2-3 weeks prior. I went to the Disney website, and there were NO rooms left anywhere on site. I called and they said the same thing. I then went on Expedia.com and searched for hotels, and there was a deal for a "View" room at the Disneyland Hotel for 239.00. I then searched for a coupon code for expedia, and found one for 20 % off. I booked the room right then for our nights, and ended up paying 190ish for our room. The reason the Disney website didn't have these rooms available when I checked was that it was so close to my travel dates and they had already been sold off to Expedia. Many hotels do this when they don't sell all their rooms they dump them on websites like Expedia for reduced rates. So keep checking around for good deal closer to your travel dates. They do go fast, though--I got our rooms, and then when I checked back a few days later there were none available.

Thank you!! I am pretty savvy when it comes to saving money at WDW, but DL is a whole other kettle of fish. I am trying the "saved offer" route, and will also keep checking hotel sites like Expedia...but where did youget the Expedia coupon code? I'm impressed by that!!

I just googled "Expedia.com coupon code" when I was purchasing the rooms that I found on expedia for a reduced rate. I do that when I buy anything online--either macys.com or shoebuy.com or whatever--I just google for coupon codes. It is easy to do and often you will find something.
