The Disney-fication of our Non-Disney Vacation...an October 2013 TR

So, instead of a movie NIGHT this month...we had an entire movie WEEKEND!!! Brian is finished with his schoolwork for a month, and he was so ready to relax and PLAY! He won a really large Legos set at a gamer weekend event he attended over the summer. We had been saving the project for this very weekend. So...are you ready for some STAR WARS fun?

Decorations were not a problem...we just raided Gabe's toy box!

Now, before I post the picture of OUR Tie Fighter Ties, I would like for you to see what we were going for:



Isn't it cute? Here are ours...



Yeah..."NAILED IT!" Brian and I thought they looked a little....perverted. But they tasted just fine!

Death Star Popcorn Balls:



These look better than they tasted...just to sweet and sticky for my preference.

Wookie Cookies...they look like normal chocolate chip cookies, but it really was a recipe called Wookie Cookies:



Charity made the cookies, and they were delicious!

Tatooine Blue Milk:



This was YUMMY!!! I just used some of the blue Hawaiian Punch singles for this...and it was SO GOOD!

The big project we had been saving since the summer? A Legos Millennium Falcon.

My first thought was that the Tie Fighter Ties were a little ummmm pornographic too.

I would have loved both the popcorn balls and the cookies because the sweeter the better for me!

So do the legos sets come with instructions? Or did you have to print them from the internet? I really want to give Jim this for his birthday in January:

But I'm afraid it's going to intimidate him a bit! He ships stuff all the time on Container Ships so the set would be perfect for him.

Going back to the "fashion" stuff, no I don't think I had an high top Candies. I did have tennis shoes that looked like saddle shoes. I had them in all different colors to match whatever outfit I was wearing at the time. I tried to find an example on the interenet but couldn't find them.

I am "affectionately" calling this Christmas Craziness Week. We have something going on EVERY NIGHT this week. Last night was round 1, a Christmas concert at the high school. Brian manned the camera. It was difficult to get pictures of Jillian, but he did his best. Jillian wore the dress with the black and gray stripes:









They did a great job. We could definitely see improvement from the first concert we attended for this year in September!

There is a whole web site called "Pinstrocity" or something similar to that. It is dedicated to situations JUST LIKE THIS. It is hilarious!

Yes, we have all six of the SW movies, and we got through four of them. There was always at least one person watching at all times. It was a great weekend.

I cannot wait for you to join us! I will have a place at the table for D~ and the rest of you when she takes her "road trip to Disney" trip someday!

I last left off with some SPICY fare from Africa. Today we pick up from there. After leaving Africa we passed by Germany. Dad got one of the Brats on a Pretzel Roll. I didn't get a picture of it, but he really liked it.

From Germany we headed to the place Jillian had been dreaming of for weeks....we headed to Italy. That girl LOVES her Italian food! While she and Brian stood in line I took this picture of Gabe and Charity:



Then we all chowed down of this deliciousness:



Ravioli Di Formaggia all'Emiliana (Baked Cheese Ravioli with Creamy Beef Bolognese Sauce, Parmesean Cheese, and Melted Mozzarella). This was SO GOOD! We actually got each family member his/her own order of this. It was that good!

And this could not be forgotten:



Cannoli al Cioccolato (Chocolate-Covered Cannoli filled with Ricotta, Chocolate, and Candied Fruit). YUM!!!
Italy was definitely a hit all around for sure!

After enjoying the yumminess in Italy, Jillian had one other treat she REALLY wanted:



Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream. I thought this was just okay. Not enough chocolate, in my opinion. But, Jillian enjoyed it, so that is what counts.

My mom and dad are not very fond of Italian, so Dad headed to France for one of these:



Some sort of Gelato, I am sure. I have no idea what kind, but he enjoyed it...but then again, my dad LOVES his ice cream any way he can get it!

While in France, Gabe and Charity got to meet someone pretty special:



I have to say, we are not that into characters, so interactions are never anything to write home about. But,the kids do enjoy getting the autographs.

AND, while in France Brian and the girls decided to be VERY adventurous. Gabe and I decided to sit this one out...



Escargots Persillade en Brioche (Garlic and Parsley Snails in Brioche). Jillian immediately started gagging, and proceeded to sprint to the nearest trash bin. Brian thought it was okay, and said he MAY eat it again in the future if given the opportunity. Charity, our LEAST adventurous eater.... LIKED IT! Yep, she liked it. I won't rate this, since I refused to try it.

However, there was one thing France had that I was interested in:



Creme Brulee au Chocolate au Lait (Chocolate Milk Crème Brulee topped with Caramelized Sugar). Again, YUM!!! I seriously could have licked that bowl clean. It was FABULOUS!

After leaving France, we got a fellow park visitor to get this wonderful picture for us:



I this picture! You can see how happy we all were to be there and be together.

While breezing through England, Gabe and Charity got to meet a Practically Perfect friend:



We were all getting pretty stuffed at this point...but there was one more country we HAD to get to!!! Can you guess where we went from this picture?

Oh Canada!!! This is where our food journey would end. When going to F&W one MUST have the offerings of our northern neighbors:



I can say these were delicious, but I was so full that they did not get the attention they deserved. But, I tried them! Since we will probably never dine in LeCellier, this was a must try for us. Glad we did it!

Overall, we LOVED this entire Food and Wine experience. I cannot wait to go back for a couples only experience at some point. But, we definitely made the most of our first time doing it!

You guys did make the most of your time around World Showcase, you got tons done.

I so wanted to try that Cheese Ravioli in Italy. If only I had skipped that awful Lamb Meatball at the New Zealand Booth.

Next time in France, get the Beef Shortribs, they were awesome! My one and only time trying snails was actually in Epcot. We ate at what is now Chefs De France when I was 7 or 8. I will always try something once.

The ice cream your Dad had was probably from the new ice cream shop in France. I've heard the ice cream is really good and they also have ice cream martinis!! Got to try one of those someday.

Such cute pictures of the whole family on the bridge and the ones in Canada. Too bad you were so full for the Canada stuff, it was so yummy!

Hahaha... I had similar interchangable Converse Cheer shoes too... Of course, you made me go dig out my Cheer photos... YOu can just make out the shoes if you squint really hard. And don't mind the big hair/lipstick - I promise, I was totally in style for the times.

I am back on the DIS after having to take a break to get things done for Christmas. I am happy to report that this morning I finished the last of the Christmas shopping and wrapping. Now I can enjoy the next 24+ hours.

I did quickly read about your Star Wars weekend and the rest of your Epcot day. Your Star Wars weekend looked great with more well-themed food. There are three BIG Star Wars fans in my house, too. They would've loved your movie weekend.

I loved the rest of your Epcot day. It looks like everyone had a great time and enjoyed some delicious food. Your mom and dad are the cutest. Love the pictures of them.

I don't want to rush along your TR but I can't wait for you to start your PTR. I have so much to tell you about our trip. It really was awesome and definitely our best vacation yet. I can't wait for you guys to go next year. I look forward to your planning. I need to live vicariously through you. We did rebook another cruise while onboard. I'm not 100% sure we'll be taking it BUT I really hope we do because I can't wait to cruise again.
