Are there many strollerswap fans out there that would like to see this continue? If so, are there a couple of people that would like to become coordinators--help organize and keep track of the stroller?
I would like to coordinate the swap for a time frame--4 months, and, if we have 2 other coordinators that are willing to commit to a 4-month time frame, we would have April, 2004 thru March, 2005 covered.
Each coordinator would have a separate post--same info-just showing different dates, for example:
April thru July stroller signup --post/coordinator goofy4wdw59
August thru Nov stroller signup-- post/coodinator __________
Dec thru March stroller signup--post/coordinator __________
The moderators have agreed that the three posts can be stuck together at the top of the budget board. Interested swappers would contact the appropriate post/time-frame.
Then, we could leave it to others to continue for another year?
We need a new stroller to continue the swap. I'm going to donate a new fisher-price comfort lite LX stroller the last day of my vacation, April 2, 2004. I'll dispose of our "1st" stroller--after getting one last picture of it! (This one lasted longer than I think any of us thought it would!)
I'll do my post and a picture & stroller info after we see what interest/response there is to this.
A BIG thanks to mom2of2 and all the other strollerswap helpers for making it last this long!
Sincerely, Margaret - goofy4wdw59:D

Just a reminder that there are still dates available for the current stroller.
3/4-3/6
3/13-3/18
3/20-3/27
Send me a PM if you are interested!!

I would love to see this continue but am not sure I would be a good coordinator- I can't check in here as much as I would like some weeks....
Can you give a better idea of what is involved? Time wise. Also I am newish here and not sure exactly how it worked, like how the stroller was handed off for instance, or what you do if there is ever a gap (how is it stored/by whom)...

Also we are there from June 1-June 8th and could use a stroller!

I would love for the stroller swap to continue!!!!!

Let me know if we can be of any help...we will be at POFQ from Apr 27-May2 with a 2 year old and a 5 year old...sure can use a stroller!!! Let's continue this stroller swap...It's a wondeful idea and I'm sure a lot of people will love to make a donation !!!

Just PM me and let me know if we can help :wave2: !!!

I would love to see it continue! We will be there Oct. 31 - Nov. 7. This is such a wonderful idea.

I can't commit to co-ordinating (too many co-ordinating duties now!), however I would be willing to help with the purchase of a new stroller - just let me know how much, where and how to send!

My kids are past the stroller stage, but I will be in Orlando from May 20 through May 31, and will babysit/handle swap duties if I am needed. I remember the stroller days so well....

Thanks for the responses!
Keriann and HaleyB-- I'm new at this so mom2of2 may have more imput here as to what all is involved.
For a 4-month period, interested Strollerswap DIS'ers would pm/contact a "DIS StrollerSwap Coordinator" (how's that for a handle?:p) about availability for their vacation dates. The Coordinator would keep track of who has the stroller and for what date. Swappers contact each other to organize a swap and also keep the Coordinator informed of dates, contact numbers, etc. Also, a Coordinator would followup with swappers to see how their swap went, and, to make sure the stroller is where it should be.
There may be problems that are unavoidable, i.e., if there are "gap" dates--where no one is using or "sitting" with the stroller--the Coordinator will continue to try filling dates.
If the dates aren't filled, the stroller sits unattended for a number of days, for example:
Say the last swapper drops off the stroller at a WDW resort guest services for the next person on the list, and, there's a 6-day gap before the next pickup date. Guest Services sees much traffic, so, the stroller can be difficult to locate at times. A Coordinator may need to call & get involved in tracking down the stroller.
I'm hoping that this won't be too time consuming--it will depend on what issues may come up. The best situation is that all dates are covered and that swappers follow StrollerSwap rules so that all runs smoothly.:D
So, are there a couple of coordinators out there? :D :D

Anyone interested in coordinating...

August thru November, 2004, or
December 2004 thru March 2005?

Let's see if we can get the swap going for another year.

I dont think I could coordinate considering i've never been to the world and i'm pretty clueless.
but I would love to have the use of a stroller and to do anything else to help the swap along?
We will be there at least Dec 5-9 and perhaps a little longer, i'm just not sure yet!

Just some FYI for all the peeps out there!
I began the SS before I had even stepped foot in WDW so you don't have to be a WDW vet to be a coordinator.
This is what you would have to do.....set your user cp to accept emails when you get a PM. THIS IS IMPORTANT since the biggest problem is people not checking their pm's.
When someone requests dates, you check to see if the dates are available and request their name, resort and a contact #. You then add them to the list. As the date approaches you then PM the swapper and ask for swap details...when where etc. I personally did a follow up pm to check to see if all went well and to thank the person for being part of the swap.
YES there were slow times when I had to ask for sitters but those dates quickly filled and I didn't need all the sitters that I asked for. It's nice to have a back up but I didn't always need one. I also maintained a back up list in case I had a cancellation but I rarely had to use it.
As long as the swappers and swappees make their own arrangements and communicate with each other, as a coordinator it's pretty easy. This doesn't always happen but in the 40+ swaps that I have done the swap goes off without a hitch.
Don't shy away from this because you think it's going to be too time consuming. With multiple coordinators and only have a short window it won't be that time cosuming at all! You aren't committing to a year or more, just a few months.
OK!!
All that being said here's my open dates.....
3/13-3/24 that's it!! Then the swap is over unless pple help out goofy4wdw59. She leaves WDW on 4/4 so if there isn't someone after her.....

I too think this is a great thing to continue as I am a mom of two girls (4 years old and a one year old). The great debate is should we bring our double stroller (side-by-side), two single strollers, or rent them in Disney. The stroller swap seems like it is the way to go. The kids have a comfortable stroller and it saves money!! I would personally need a stroller April 30 - May 8, 2004 and again November 13 - 16, 2004 if those dates are open.

Now about being the coordinator - I am not so sure I would be that good at it. I have been to the world too many times to count so that is not the problem - I too am just a bit nervous about the down times and what to do. I am not on the disboards everyday so would that play into this? I need a bit more information on exactly what to do.

Thanks and hope to help.

Lisa

Hi - I have the time and hopefully the energy to be a coordinator. I check the boards just about every day! I'm happy to take the August through November coordinator slot.

I'll be in Orlando Sept. 17-28th and could use a stroller then.

How about some stats on the new stroller - weight of the stroller, max weight of the child, features (cup holder, canopy, basket, etc.)?

Let's keep the stroller swap going!!
