I had trouble getting into the boards for several days, so last night I spent about 1-1/2 hours here, DH kept asking "what are you doing?" then "why" then asked if I've met someone on-line - I told him "Yes, about 60,000 or so and most are just as obsessed as I am" :teeth: Anybody else out there go through this?

As a SAHM I just don't have much adult conversation during the day. I hate just sitting there, watching the tv so I come to the dis boards. My poor dh just rolls his eyes now since I seem to start a lot of my conversations with..."Today on the dis boards someone said......". Nope he doesn't get it. But, he has gotten the whole WDW thing, so I guess I won't complain!

My DJ is the same...why do you tell things to strangers? Why do you read so much on "that Disney site?"
He loves Disney as much as I do, but doesn't get the "community" part.

My ex never did either. However he did appreciate it when the trip came and I knew what I was doing.

I am fortuante that my DH also has on-line friends and message boards he reads. In fact, he went over to the Netherlands a couple years back as a guest of some of the people on one message board. Before you get any ideas, :), my DH is an engineer and a geek so the people he meets are the same and the place he went to was a company doing computer graphics and DH did some work for them.

DH has reaped the benefits of me reading these boards. He is now a full-fledge concierge fan and we wouldn't have known about it without these boards. We also love all the restaurant reviews...wouldn't have known about child care without reading it here...and LOTS of other things.

It also helps that DH loves Disney as much as I do...he works to support our habit. :)

goofy4tink, it seems like we're living similiar lives!!! I'm also a SAHM and you don't receive much intelectual stimulation for a 3 YO!!! (See even my spelling has suffered!!!) I DIS a lot, and DH doesn't get it sometimes, but when it helps us with our WDW trip, or saves us money with a code he LOVES the DIS. I usually don't DIS too much when he's home, but sometimes I just have to. I've tried to explain to him that it's a community of people trying to help each other and those of us who love WDW. Sometimes we'll come up with a question we don't know the answer to, or an opinion on something, and I'll make a post. He loves the responses, and usually we receive good advice. So, I tell him, that I offer my advice when I can to offer back what I recieve. He does get that, but doesn't realize that there is just so much activity here, if I only visited once a day, I'd probably be on for at least 2 hours!!!!

My DH doesn't get it. He says I'm addicted, but I'm not....honestly.....I can quit any time....really......

LOL DH doesnt really care, he's not very computer savy, he's just getting the hang of the internet now...(I know I know)...but anyway's, he at first was asking me what I was looking for, and I just kept repeating, Disney, Disney, Disney..

In the last week or so, I've gone and updated our budget spreadsheet for our upcoming trip...I put in rack rates, for our hotels, gate price for tickets, rain forest cafe prices....and then I went and put in what we actually paid, and how..ie. entertainment card, vouchers etc... he's completely baffled that I saved as much as I did.

Now he'll say- so whats up on that disney board today?

LOL

My dh is addicted to the DIS boards too! :earsboy: :earsgirl: Sometimes I think his obsession has even surpassed MINE! We seriously fight over who gets to sit at the keyboard and who has to sit in the other chair to watch. :p We just love this place!!!!! ::yes::

My DH is the same way . . .he rolls his eyes and such when he walks over to the computer and sees that I'm STILL Dis'***.

But he sure appreciates all the wealth of knowledge and cost saving tips I have received throughout the years . . .

DH also just stated the other day "all you ever talk about is WDW" well no duh . . .

My DH "gets it", understands why I'd spend time on a Disney message board, and definitely appreciates all the info I've gathered over the years here from the DIS boards (especially when we were planning our first big WDW trip), but he has absolutely NO interest in talking about anything having to do with Disney. He doesn't mind at all that I do, though.

When he got his new Ford truck last summer he joined the Ford Truck World message board and we went to a fund-raiser and one other meet with the people on that board, but then we got busy remodeling our family room and other things so he's lost interest in that, although I think he reads it every once in a while. DH and DSs have gone with me to a DIS meet before, too, so I can't complain. It also helps that we all have our own computers so it's not as if I'm keeping anyone else from using it.

I think at this point he's a bit proud of all of my Disney vacation knowledge because a couple of the guys he works with have consulted me when planning their Disney World and Disney Cruise Line trips. He brags to them about all that I know. :sunny:

My DH doesn't get it either. I usually do cruise chat on Friday, and he definitely rolls his eyes when he comes in the computer room. He was happy with the results, just the same "what do you possibly have to say to these people all the time."
