I have been doing some planning for our trip the last few days. Just revisiting information that I recorded a few months ago, making sure my spreadsheet is accruate... all that good stuff. I got to thinking about what we wanted to do in Animal Kingdom. DW and I never really take the time to check out the animals, we usually hit the rides and leave the park after a couple of hours. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it occurred to me that there doesn't appear to be a platypus exhibit in Animal Kingdom. Is Disney really passing up such an obvious marketing opportunity here?

She visited many times over the winter when I was up there and says she can handle it. I don't have the heart to tell her two weeks playing in the snow is a lot different from slogging through it all winter. Maybe I should send her up to Wisc. to toughen her up.

That was a really good question. It made me wonder if maybe it was because platypuses, platypi..... (how do you make that word plural?) don't do we'll in captivity. According to wikipedia it looks like they can actually live longer in captivity (17 years) than in the wild (11 years). Maybe Disney was afraid doing an "Australia" land would scare people? The tag line could be "the land that wants to kill you so bad even the mammals are venomous"

After a great lobster dinner at Narcoosee last night, watched Hallo-wishes from BLT. Wow, what's better than fireworks? Fireworks at BLT with no walk thru the crowd or transportation to hotel.

We have been rocking MK today. Breakfast at CRT. FP at Peter Pan gave us special fast pass for Pan & philharmagic. We rocked Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and hit our first 30 + min wait for pic with Rapunzel. Will post pics later.

The good news is that two recruiters from schools DD is interested in spent a lot of time with her and basically guaranteed her admission. They talked money with me and because of her grades, the school will give $15 to $20K in scholarships. Now all I ned is to come up with the rest. Any contributions would be welcome.

So operation "convince DW we should go back to marathon weekend" was a success. I'm still waiting for 1 work thing to be finalized that I should hear about this week and then we'll book. She thought it was strange that for once in our marriage I was the one advocating spending money as usually my role is to encourage us to live on Ramen noodles and such.

Have any of you stayed at the refurbished rooms at POR? We have stayed at the updated FQ rooms and they were nice. I was curious if the update POR got queen beds too?

Silly newbie question Do any of the moderate resorts offer rooms with king size beds?

Update. I found the answer. Yes moderates do have king size beds, but they cost more than a standards double/double room.
