Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Well I am home from work for the time being and hoping that the phone does not ring LOL....I have a little over an hour to eat all the bacon I want and drink anything I want. I think I will cap things off with a Lunesta with a nyquil chaser just as the clock strikes midnight just so I can sleep well ha ha. Andy, I appreciate the gesture of no pics of princesses or bacon until after the test in the am ha ha. I might not be able to type after I get home. He is going to do a radial artery access instead of a femoral artery access. I will be off work until next friday so I can keep caught up reading on here even if I can't post...but I can hunt and peck with left hand I bet  If you dont see any messages on line from me then maybe one of the Dads who have Shari on their facebook list can check with her to see if Ernie (the local funeral director) has been consulted to do my hair:laughing:...You guys take it easy and keep me in prayers!!!

Excellent! Hopefully, your recovery will be faster this way!

There's a left hand joke here somewhere, but I'm just going to let that go...

God bless, buddy.

This has been quite the beverly morning. Excuse me while I break some of this news... Got a call late last night that my paternal grandmother passed away. She was just over 90, so it's not entirely unexpected... but still surprising to hear how quickly she faded. Just found out there will be no services, but still may need to make a trip to Ohio.

Then... I get to work and start telling my supervisor the news so she is in the loop. She looked like she was already on the verge of tears... so I ask what was wrong. Last night one of the girls on the soccer team, an eight year old friend of her family, was struck by a car when crossing the street to get to the field. She was airlifted with a skull fracture and is currently in ICU in stable, serious condition. She's in a medically induced coma for now. Please pray for her.

It's one of those days that reminds me life is fragile. Hug those close to you and remember that we only have so many marbles left.

Thinking of you this morning, Christopher!

:thumbsup2Well, it looks like I have gotten myself into a situation!! Went to cardiologist today because of the persistant chest pressure. He said he wanted to do a heart chat...I was like ok...and pulled out my work schedule to see when I could fit it in :rotfl2:..He then looked at me and said....I am going to do it tomorrow ....So I am headed to work this evening and on call until 7am and then I am going to get things fixed and checked...so cross your fingers and say a prayer!!

Man o man, prayers out to everyone. Really sorry about your loss Don. We need some good news around here.

Dinner in Canada tonight was Cesar Salad, McCain's Frozen French Fries, and Store bought Chicken Nugget's.

I honestly don't see what the buzz 'round here is... :rotfl2:

I've lived here 40 years, and can honestly say I've never had (or have seen) a mushroom risotto filet or cheddar cheese soup! ;)

Two dining credits for THAT?:rotfl2:

OK, Gentleman:

We finally have everything packed, the checklist made for the morning. As my wife works for the school system, she is going to school w/the kids until they can be credited for being there a full day (which is 1030am). I will then pick them up and we will be on our way on a 12 hour trip to Orlando. Wooooooo!!! I'm tired, but excited!

6am comes fast, I'm going to bed now.

So I'm not sure if this goes here, the "Introduce Myself..." thread, or both, so I'm safely opting for both... I've ran up close to a few hundred posts or so, most over on the Cruise Thread. Since we're leaving on the Wonder in 10 days, I'll need a new DIS addiction to switch to after my return and TR, so I was told on another thread to get my rear over here. So here goes! Hope you guys'll have me!

Welcome to the club :cool1:

Brian, congrats on 5,000 posts

Good morning men :thumbsup2

Haven't posted in a while. Been fairly busy around here the past week or so. We had a three day weekend last weekend which was spent at my MiL's home, doing some farm work. I think I've mentioned this before, but I am definitely not meant to be a farmer. :lmao:

I'm in the middle of my final day as a teacher for students. I'll then have a week and a half off. Not exactly sure what we'll do during that time, other than trying to prepare for our move to Pohang.

We move out of our current home on the 17th, but don't officially move in to the new place till the 18th. We'll probably just grab some blankets and sleep on the floor of the new place.

I'll be starting my new job at POSCO (Pohang Steel Company, one of the biggest companies in South Korea) Management and Innovation Consulting (POMIC, for short) on the 20th. It's gonna be a huge change for me, not only the atmosphere of a real company job, but also being back to a 9-6 schedule.

Have a great trip! You've got a pretty short drive to Orlando. When we drive and hit Nashville, I know that we're almost half way!

Welcome to the club! We're doing our first cruise at the end of the month and I can't wait! But be careful what you wish for - the Dad's Club can very very addicting. Especially if you like bacon.

So let me get this straight - you left Wisconsin, flew half way around the world, and were asked to help out on a farm. How cliché. :sad2:

Good luck with the new job!

Congrats, and in my over-tired state I read it as you were working for PANIC, not POMIC.:rotfl2:

Steve I'm praying for you this morning. I hope that everything turns out alright. Enjoy your pseudo- one handed staycation.

Don I am hoping your family and the family of this girl are doing well. I hope no news was indeed good news.

StopherLots of prayers being said for you and your family for all the things you have going on.

Good morning gents. This mornings airport is Scenic CVG. Ohh well 2 hours and then I get to go home.

This weekend is operation try and persuade DW that we need to go back to WDW for marathon weekend even if we only have 1 park day to keep costs down.

Top of the mornin' gents!

Here's one for Trennr

cornmazeforblondes.jpg

The sad part is every day they have to send out a rescue party for the 3 or 4 blondes who wandered off course and got lost in the woods.

The DISDad's has been more then a group of Disney loving fathers. It has been a place where we can all get together and talk openly about problems in our lives, celebrations we want to share, and even tell a fart joke once in a while. The DISDad's is not a group of strangers on the internet, but a group of men from all corners of the globe who all share the love of Disney and Family, a group I am proud to call my Friends.

So I couldn't think of a better place to post my number 5000.

Thanks guys.

party:Congrats! Well said, we're like the Shriners, but with better hats!:earsboy:

she also got a kick out of eeyores eyes on this bus poster.:lmao:

Yeah but there's always the Swiss Chalet Festive dinner to look forward to.

Not to mention Shreddies and Habitant French Canadian Pea soup.

Not sure if I missed it, what place do you guys settle on?

Steve
Good morning gents. This mornings airport is Scenic CVG. Ohh well 2 hours and then I get to go home.

Brace yourself, its full blown winter here in Raleigh, 47 this morning! I'm surprised they weren't out brineing the roads.

First of all, it means I've spent WAY to much time around here. :rotfl2:
Congratulations on 5000, and you have not spent way too much time around here. :lmao::rotfl2: Your reasons for coming here are a spot on description of all of us. :thumbsup2

Also... I'm pretty exhausted from converting Zerphonics to regular English! :lmao: Thanks for you updates, Dave! :thumbsup2

Hey Barry... are you driving on your upcoming trip? I-65 crossing the river into Louisville has been having 12 mile, 2+ hour backups during rush hour the past month or so. They've had to close one of the bridges, so basically getting across the river and into Louisville (or back to Indiana) is a mess right now.

So let me get this straight - you left Wisconsin, flew half way around the world, and were asked to help out on a farm. How cliché. :sad2:

tonight while walking around the countries, there was a guy pushing a stoller, holding a beer glass in one hand and the stroller and pushing it along. the rest of his party was a step behind him. i saw them coming because the little girl (2 years old?) in the stroller was flippin out. the guy in front of me went running to the clown pushing the stoller.:confused3 here the guy as hes walking, pushing the stoller is dumping beer on his daughters head!:sad2: the guy didnt seemed to be bombed but wow!!!:sad2:

Holy crap, I just spit bacon all over my monitor. Which is weird, because I wasn't even eating bacon. :confused3

Nope, we're flying. I'll be sure to look down at all of those poor folks stuck in traffic, then go back to my in-flight WiFi. That's right - assuming I can wrestle the laptop away from DD trying to watch a movie - I can post on the DIS from the plane. Maybe I'll really test the bandwidth and do a Skype Video Chat. :lmao:
Thanks for the info, though. Bambi and I have talked about it and we've decided that the next few trips will all be flying. As much as I hate to pay that much for the plane tickets, it sure does make driving a lot easier when everyone in the car is potty trained.

Nah, I'll argue that point. If they're in a diaper, you don't have to stop a half mile after every rest stop so someone can use the bathroom.:rotfl2::lmao:

I've been missing a lot of posts and have tried to backtrack a bit, Stropher, prayers out to you as well, and anyone else I've missed...

he gets the dad of the year award for this trip!!!!

Still the worst I've seen was a dad and mom who got busted by in-store security (rare as that is) WITH THEIR KIDS!!!!! We had no idea how to handle this, other then try to give the kids some treats etc while we waited for police to eventually show ( and child services) Can you imagine that?:scared1::sad2::confused3

Well, it's been a week now, and things are looking up for Amelia at the new school. First off, there is not masses of homework comming home everynight. She is getting things done in class now, not just sitting there. This new school seems to have a better handle on how to help students. I know she is getting reading help for an hour or so a day, and has made new friends. There was a hiccup the first day, when the Baby Simba zipper pull she got at WDW was stolen off her backpack, but the next day it was "found" on the backpack, so someone let their conscience be their guide.:goodvibes All in all, this school seems a lot more focused on helping students. She even has a class trip comming up, a huge improvement over last year, not one.

10dedfish, I know you've had some issues too, but I am not sure how to help?:confused3 It was not a case of Amelia not being challenged, just the opposite, she was overwhelmed. We thought we could give her a leg up by going into the French Immersion program, french being our spanish here, but it was a struggle for her and put her way behind as a result regular english, and basic reading skills. When she had issues last year, we thought it was a factor of changing teachers early on (her new one was a guy with little people skills, and us pulling her out for a week to go to WDW (although, being grade 1 October, she didn't miss very much). Live and learn I guess.
